I once believed you were something rare the kind of love people don’t question
I gave you meaning you never asked for, built you into more than you ever were.
but then I realized it wasn’t you I was holding, it was everything I poured into you,
every soft place, every quiet hope, every piece of me that made you shine.
and when I took it back, when I finally chose myself, you were worth nothing at all.

Karma

I thought once
you were something rare
the kind of presence
you hold onto
with both hands.
I built meaning around you,
gave you weight
you never carried yourself.
Then it came to me, quietly
what made you shine
was never yours.
It was the way I loved you,
the way I saw you
like something worth keeping.
And when I gathered that love back,
when I let it return to me,
you faded
not into pain,
not into anger,
just into nothing
I needed anymore.
