Lon Chaney as The Phantom in The Phantom Of The Opera (1925) gifting us with one of the scariest monsters in cinema history.

Conrad Veidt as Cesare in The Cabinet of Dr. Caligary (1920) one of the films that launched the German Expressionist movement.

Max Schreck as Count Orlok in Nosferatu (1922) the first movie about the now legendary Dracula. 

Brigitte Helm as the iconic robot Maria in Metropolis (1927) a cinematic achievement of gigantics proportions. 

Benjamin Christensen as The Devil in Haxan: Witchcraft Through The Ages (1922) the most horrifying silent film you will ever watch. 

Paul Wegener as The Golem in Der Golem (1920) another expressionist jewel you should not miss. 

Conradt Veidt as Gywnplaine in The Man Who Laughs (1928). He does not play a monster or villan here, he is rather the victim of sick people and nasty royalty. I had to include him for this portrayal has become part of the Horror Culture for ever.

Buick Streamliner, 1948. Designed and manufactured in the 1940s by the mechanical engineer Norman E. Timbs. 
Timbs designed and fabricated much of the project himself, which included a custom aluminum body and steel chassis. It took him over two years to finish. He had worked as an Indy 500 designer, the model was influenced by the Auto Union Stromlinie and Mercedes-Benz Stromlinie which took part in the 1937 Avus GP. What you notice is Edith takes on the gothic qualities of the house. Another thing about working with working with Guillermo is he understands how important it is for his designers to be involved early on in the process; he values us. The house really dictated how to approach the costumes, from a sculptural point of view, to give them extra depth, to give them a painterly quality. I didn’t want to get myself caught up in detail that didn’t feel like it meant anything, like generic lace or decoration. So all the details we made and they all came from the symbolism of the characters or the house itself. The leaves on Lucille’s dress were constructed by hand, with a single piece of cording. And for Edith, the motifs of the flowers, she blooms. It was about trying to create an atmosphere.
