Thoughts on Six WE reusing costumes?

lol let me get this straight.

we were SO ANGRY when it was reported that there were no alt costumes. we were attacking everyone involved and spamming our instagram stories. however, we get alt costumes, and now we’re angry that they’re being reused? are we just gonna sit here and complain? do you 14 year olds want jobs at six now? because clearly you appear to know better than people who have professionally trained in marketing and have years of experience of marketing shows?

For the record it is not a marketing team thing. It is a costume and production team thing. And this is the sort of thing long running shows do. Which is really good. Six is no longer a hype new musical. It is an established show in the west end. And they are acting like one.

Long running shows reuse costumes as long as they are still in good condition. Those things are not cheap to make and refitting for a new cast member means they can both save money and not retire a perfectly functional costume just because it isn't brand new. And we have been saying costumes are likely being reused since cast change because it was an obvious next step in the set up six to run for many years road.

So sure the alt costumes are not "right" for the covers they will be worn for. Guess what. They haven't been right since 2021 or 2019 if we are being honest. Those costumes were designed for a very different alt system in a very different show that never expected to grow as much as it did. If Six had been designed as a big budget long run aimed musical from the start I promise you alt costumes would have been very different.

@lightleckrereins hey! thanks for your insight! yeah, i put marketing because the main argument ive seen is that it was a point of ‘attracting fans’ and that if they reuse alt costumes then that would mean that they ‘don’t understand their audience’. as i said, it’s entitlement and we’ve been given so much for so long that unfortunately some people think it’s reasonable to demand and expect six to give them what they want and give them everything that fits their perfect imagination of what six should be. and when it doesn’t go their way…. we end up having to make posts abt it 😭

hey everyone! sorry for the silence recently, it’s been a crazy few weeks. i decided to delete the last alt dates i did (which i believe was week of 08/01 - 14/01) as there were tons of inaccuracies and i couldn’t keep up with all the changes.

i plan on bringing back the alt dates schedule for next week to kick off february!

Seymour debut was delayed by 3 months due to a knee injury

Parr debut was delayed a month and a half due to Bells Palsy

Aragon debut has been delayed due to illness

re megs parr skirt: i asked a simple question, no need for the passive aggressive response. it’s not that deep 😭😭

The last post I made was in response to your ask talking about Meg wearing a skirt for Parr, and it really pissed me off. I hadn’t heard a single bit of praise in regards to Meg actually making her debut as Parr, and all I heard was quite popular fan accounts complaining about the fact she was wearing a skirt instead of pants. It’s quite disrespectful to blatantly ignore someone’s debut in favour of focusing on what they are wearing on the bottom half of their costume. Don’t get me wrong, this alt costume situation is sad, as some of my favourite costumes are alt costumes, but it should not overshadow the fact that someone made a debut in their dream show.

meg wore a skirt for parr?? what the fuck six.

I think it really shows the state of the queendom that when a swing debuts in a track and does an incredible job, instead of celebrating that, all we can focus on is whether she’s wearing pants or a skirt. People want to use this excuse of ‘but we want swalts individuality’, but by completely ignoring the fact that this swing has debuted in this role, you are essentially doing what Six has been doing by stripping away alt costumes. In reality, the whole ‘individuality’ and ‘alts getting a costume to separate themselves from the principals’ basically ended when the second load of alts came in and got the same costumes. A sparkly costume should not define who a performer is or how they portray a role. It’s a fucking skirt.
