Anthony is in California filiming on the night of jasmines last show and they get into a big fight about him not being there. He ends up supposing her during curtain call be proposing.
She yelled at Anthony through the phone for over ten minutes, how it was her last night and he should have been there to support her. Nobody went to go check up on Jasmine after hearing the thirty minute call was heard in the background. Nobody dared to knock, nobody dared to interrupt. It just wasn’t going to happen.Anthony himself could hardly barge into the conversation, Jasmine was extremely relentless and didn’t skip a beat.
“Anthony, you have got to be kidding me right now. You have to be kidding.” Jasmine was fuming, there was smoke coming out of her ears. Of course, he had to be filming this week, the week of her last show. “It’s my last show; you know how important it is for you to be here!”
“Jasmine!” That called Jasmine to attention and she fell silent. The room was still for a second. “There’s nothing I can do about it anymore.”
Jasmine heard a sigh from the other end of the line; was she really that much of a bother that the man that she loved couldn’t come to see her last performance, not to mention that it was the musical that brought them together, that without it, they wouldn’t have ever crossed paths?
He spoke again. “Look, Jas, I tried my best. They wouldn’t let me take off for the weekend. I’m so sorry I can’t be there tonight—”
After hearing Anthony sound so sympathetic, Jasmine had to cool off. She didn’t want this fight resulting in her getting dumped. “It’s fine. I’ll see you whenever I can. I love you.”
“I love you more, baby girl. Break a leg.”
“Hey, isn’t that Lin in the audience, with Vanessa?” Jasmine whispered in Mandy’s ear as they stood in the wings, getting ready to head out for the curtain call.
“Yeah, that is him. Wow, he came all the way from London just to hear you one last time.” Mandy sneakily added in that reference and her younger counterpart giggled. “There’s a lot of the cast here, hmm, I wonder why.”
“I mean, this last curtain call isn’t that important.” Jasmine shrugged. “But I’m not going to complain, I’m happy they’re all here.”
It was time for them to go out and take their bows, Jasmine’s final bows in her case. They did as such and Mandy and Lexi nudged Jasmine to take her spot in all her glory. She took her spot with a renewed confidence. It was okay that Anthony wasn’t there, of course she was upset, but it was okay.
“What the heck I gotta do, to be with you?” Jasmine’s head whipped around faster than it ever has before. Her eyes gazed around and ended up on Anthony walking out from the wings, with a microphone in hand. Daveed, Oak, and Lin (how the heck did he escape from the audience?) walked in behind him, singing “What the heck I gotta do?”
Her hand instinctively cupped her mouth and she tried not to cry, but she could feel the waterworks building up at the back of her eyes.
“Who do I have to be, for you to marry me?” He dropped down to one knee with the box open and the ring shining brightly, just as he said the last two words. Daveed grabbed the mic from Anthony’s hand and put it in Jasmine’s direction.
“Oh my God, yes, a million times yes. Oh my god, I love you Anthony.”
