Japanese onomatopoeic expressions

あつあつ- something that looks piping hot, or a couple who are head over heels for each other.

あっぷあっぷ- someone floundering in water and almost drowning 

いきいき- someone who looks like they are full of life and energetic 

いやいや- reluctantly with a heavy heart 

うとうと- describes someone napping or dozing 

がつがつ- describes someone eating greedily or someone who hungers after something 

がぶがぶ- someone gulping down a large drink thirstily 

くたくた- something that looks withered or someone who looks very tired

くるくる- a  small object spinning around or someone who is quick at moving or coming up with ideas 

けちけち- someone who is stingy and tightfisted. 

ごちゃごちゃ- describes something in a jumble

ざあざあ- the sound of rushing water, often pouring rain, or the sound of static on a tv

じゃぶじゃぶ- the sound and action of splashing in water

すやすや- sleeping peacefully 

ちくちく- a sharp object pricking something 

ちびちび- describes doing something little by little to make it last for as long as possible, like small sips of a drink

9th August - What is your favourite summer ‘beach read’ book?

so because i read a lot, i have a lot of books that i tend to reread every summer and so associate them with summer. (i don’t have any ‘beach’ reads cause i don’t go to the beach lol). some of the books i reread tend to be the harry potter series (cause i read them for the first time during summer) and various romance novels, none of which are particularly well known but just are comforting to read and make me smile

most of the time i just settle for a bearable temperature. but joking aside, i quite enjoy picnics with my family although it’s not often that we actually go on them. i also really love the summer party that my little village in france has
