Is Radovid not what Jaskier would have been if he hadn’t become a bard? If he’d had his ‘stayed life at court’ and never became a wandering bard, he would be wearing a very similar mask to the one he perceives on Radovid’s face.

I think that’s why he looks so sad when Radovid plays his song back to him. Because maybe Radovid could have been an artist too, but being Redanian royalty leaves no room for that kind of freedom or honesty.
