Name: Jasmine Hart Age: 25 Sexuality: Bisexual Gender: Female Portrayed By: Willa Holland (not negotiable) Availability: Closed
“I don’t really want to talk about Annie.”
→ Background
Jasmine, Poppy Hart’s sister, has always been a lot different from the older girl. She’s always been less outspoken and confident than Poppy. She kept herself on the sidelines, writing in her notebook and listening to her music, never really getting involved in much of anything. She liked it better that way, closing herself off after her parents divorced. She felt angry, just like her sister, but it simply developed in Jasmine in a different way than it did in Poppy. Poppy seemed to channel it into her actual personality, whereas Jasmine kept it inside half the time and pretended it wasn’t there, exploding every now and then without feeling able to control it.
Jasmine was definitely a target for Annie. The girl always butted heads with Poppy, who wasn’t as easy to back into a corner, but Jasmine was a different story altogether. She didn’t seem to have any backbone, she couldn’t stand up for herself. She just didn’t know how and it didn’t help that she was better at writing down what she wanted to say than she was at talking in general. She always sounded like an idiot if she tried to fight back and, eventually, didn’t even bother trying. She just kept her head down and tried to get on with it. Make it through school, was what she repeated over and over again in her head. She made it through school, of course, but not without a few more incidents including one where Kelly Sharpe stole her mobile phone and passed it on to Annie. Jasmine didn’t know that Annie had told Kelly the phone was hers, she just thought Kelly was being spiteful because of her loyalty. She spent weeks worrying about the phone and then, in the middle of the school cafeteria, Annie stood up and read out embarrassing texts she’d sent a friend about a popular boy she had a crush on but had no chance with in a million years. It was the most humiliating moment of her life and she spent the next few weeks pretending to be ill… and every lunch time after that hiding in the a toilet stall.
→ Back to Baberton
Annie’s disappearance, and discovery of her body years later, didn’t really make Jasmine feel anything. She was sort of numbed to it. It was horrific that someone would do something so terrible, of course, but she couldn’t say that she hadn’t entertained fantasies of doing away with Annie herself. Not that she’d ever follow through on them, though sometimes she felt angry enough to, but still. She didn’t go to the funeral and doesn’t attend any of the memorials. She just doesn’t have any respect for the dead girl so why should she go and pretend to be upset about the fact that she’s gone? Good riddance, as far as she’s concerned, and she’s certain that’s not just her repressed anger talking.
These days, she’s working part time at AJ’s, Baberton’s only nightclub. It’s a bit creepy making her way home in the early hours of the morning after a shift when there’s a killer on the loose… but sometimes Jasmine doesn’t really care what happens. Every now and then it feels like it would be better if she was, wouldn’t it be better for everyone? In her spare time, she plays guitar and writes songs, which is what she’d like to do professionally. Even if her mum thinks it’s a stupid pipe dream that she’s never going to be able to attain. What does her mum know anyway? The woman’s too wrapped up in her boyfriend to notice much of anything.
Currently, Jasmine is grieving very badly for her ex boyfriend James Addison. They had just moved in together before he was killed during the carnival in 2019. Jasmine can’t afford to move somewhere else and she feels him everywhere. It’s so hard to move on and let go… even harder to accept he’s never coming back.
→ What’s Her Secret?
Refused to become a part of the -A Team when she was invited to join (after what Annie did to her) and is now being tormented by -A for knowing the team exists.
Attempted suicide when she was sixteen, Annie’s persistent bullying becoming too much for her. She took a bunch of pills, chased them with alcohol, and hoped she wouldn’t wake up. She did, however, and the only thing that proved she’d done it was the fact she felt sick for days after. She hadn’t taken enough and, because she felt too dumb to tell anybody, she never got the attention people like Sarah Clarke received. She hasn’t attempted again but, every now and then, she feels like she should.
Spotted her sister and mother’s new boyfriend kissing in the living room one afternoon a couple of weeks ago, though Poppy didn’t see her. She’s felt weird about it ever since. Especially because she feels like Lewis was deliberately making her uncomfortable about it. Eventually this all came out and Lewis was nasty to her sister in the end and Jasmine feels guilty for not speaking up sooner.
