Why the sun and the stars prophecy mentioning that something of equal value must be left behind in tartarus gives me a strong gut feel that jason grace will once again save the day......for one last time
Cliffhanger
an unconscious jason is carried off by a Valkyrie as odin watches on all of this with a smirl on his face
I just realised something about those who hate jason complaining him that he is the foil of percy and in every way opposite to him. The truth is they want him to be but in reality he is not. To be very Frank reading jason again' and again it becomes apparently clear that every character in the heroes of Olympus share similarities and jason is not a cold blooded emotional ruthless rule following duty bound mission focused guy( just because you want him to be percys foil doesn't mean he is ) but actually very opposite to that he is emotional compassionate hates rules unorthodox roman a perfect mix of deliberation and recklessness if it comes to it
He is very much his own character whose story just needs to be fleshed out and written and that's the only fix needed for his character is to actually complete his story
i just reread the lost hero so this is another jason grace appreciation post for all those who say percy is automatically better bc he took way less time to become praetor:
leo and piper were both made head campers of their respective cabins in the same amount of time and neither cabin was missing a leader at the time the way camp jupiter was when percy arrived. this is because they clearly showed that they were part of a bigger prophesy and had more experience. percy clearly showed himself to have that same level of power and influence on the world when he was part of the quest at new rome so of course they’d make him a leader.
jason led camp against krios at the battle of mount othrys and reyna said he had only had the praetorship a few months before being taken by hera, meaning he was made a praetor at the feast of fortuna in june before the battle. he was already a praetor before any major battles or prophecies and he earned it entirely on his merits and not just on the fact that he was a child of a great prophecy. of course it took way longer; he had to earn everyone’s respect without any major victories (also remember it took him years but he is fifteen years old of course they wouldn’t make a two year old praetor but he was respected enough to get the job at age fourteen!!).
he gained admiration and respect for the fifth cohort without battling giants or defeating titans. he did it all by being a great guy. he single-handedly toppled the black throne without having invincibility plus a full army who would risk their life to keep him alive like percy had in new york. percy was a leader of the army because the prophesy was about him, but jason was a leader because he earned the title. every single time i say how much i love jason, someone comes out of the woodwork to say “percy is more powerful!” i don’t care. i love percy but not everything about jason is a reflection on percy. the only reason you don’t like jason is because you formed your opinions of him in the lost hero when he literally had zero memories and if you allowed yourself to actually read anything he says or does beyond that you’ll see why he’s awesome.
Whenever I see comments on how everything that happened to jason made sense, defending the writers action in trials of Apollo aka burning maze , I couldn't help but think about how the writer goes all Rowling harry potter style when it comes to percy alone : simple and fairy tale, happy story ending
But when it comes to jason alone he goes all George RR Martin and game of thrones on jason : realistic, nuanced, dark ( he tries to but fails as it is apparently clear he is trying to make a colorful world dark to up the stakes but never really it was natural and immediately in the next book makes frank survive idk what to say)
Either have a fantasy fairy tale world or a dark world please don't be biased and pull off something like this
My boy jason was really dreaming about reyna when he was falling to his death
There was this fanfiction I once read where jason and reyna were married and had three kids
Twins : Romulus and remus
Youngest one: cleo
And it was so wholesome man imagine jason reyna hylla thalia in the whole picture
Romulus takes after reyna
Cleo takes after the grace family
Remus is the foil for romulus
Hope : I no longer try to get close to anyone people who I care about have a tendency to die on me
Landon: CHALLENGE ACCEPTED!!
I've always seen posts on how if jason was brought along with thalia and the fight scene where thalia sacrifices herself nothing really changes in this au except for the addition of jason but most of those au posts forget one crucial point: lupa and her pack of wolves . Jason was roman at this point, sold to juno like a toy/ pawn so his life basically belongs to her , so the wolves would call out to him maybe in dreams maybe psychically or literally trying to confront him to take him with them with jason refusing it initially but the moment he sees thalia in a life threating danger he trades that he will call come with them in exchange for their help to save thalia
And after that thalia is saves with jason disappearing miraculously and that would be my au for that
After seeing jason literally having lightning crackles all over his body and the way he was just willing to go hand to hand combat with the ice goddess ( if you see jason choosing hands over swords it is not the son of jupiter you are seeing anymore it's the dangerous son of lupa who literally tore apart a Titan with just his bare hands and if jason does this we know the enemy is f***ked) after seeing thalia frozen just for a few minutes imagine what would jason do if he knew about all the shit that thalia went through in pjo
I sincerely doubt if luke would be able tolerate jason breaking bad
i think there is a fundamental misunderstanding people make when approaching Jason’s character, but to explain it I must first go on a tangent -
One of the things that’s really interesting with the demigod characters is that, while they are independent personality-wise of their divine ancestors, and their personality is never fully reflective of their divine ancestors, demigods still always have personality traits that are strongly related to an aspect of their divine ancestor(s). For a lot of demigod character this is even the same trait that presents itself in different ways, particularly in CHB. Demeter kids tend to be rooted - usually presenting as them being stubborn and resistant to change or opposing opinions. Apollo kids tend to be self-focused. Hades kids tend to be driven by their relationships/bonds to others. Percy and Tyson are the only Poseidon kids, but Percy’s seems to be that outwardly he appears to be an unpredictable wildcard, when this is not necessarily true. The sea is not wholly unpredictable - if you learn it, you will learn the patterns that drive it, and that it is subject to many outside influences (the moon, the sun, winds, etc). It just looks unpredictable to those who do not bother to learn (which, btw, is a GREAT metaphor for ADHD imo).
Jason and Thalia represent two specific spheres for Zeus/Jupiter (and in Jason’s case, Hera/Juno as well). Thalia is Zeus as King of the gods. She is a natural leader. She works well in leadership positions and tends to lead logically. This is why she’s the lead Huntress of Artemis.
Jason does not represent Jove and Juno as King and Queen of the gods. Jason represents Juno and Jove as mother and father of the gods. This is why he tends to fall naturally into leadership positions in groups but simultaneously struggles in them in some scenarios but not others. He dislikes leading an army and being seen as perfect and above others because he is not acting from the perspective of a king, he is acting from the perspective of a member of a family unit. He is not the leader of an army, he is a wolf in a pack. He leads emotionally. He’s protective of his group. Yes, he is a bit of a dad-friend! But at the same time he is adverse to putting himself above the group! Yes, he falls into leadership positions, but only to a certain degree. He works best in a group he’s familiar with. He works better in smaller groups.
To Thalia those specifics don’t matter, because she’s not working from a more personal perspective like Jason does. Thalia could lead groups Jason is normally put in charge of, but Jason would not be able to lead Thalia’s groups. But also Thalia is not devoid of Zeus-as-a-father-god traits either! That was basically her entire dynamic with Annabeth (and Luke)! And Jason isn’t wholly devoid of Jupiter-and-Juno-as-rulers-of-the-gods either, he is capable of tapping into that- and he does so! But he is always primarily Jove-and-Juno-as-parents-of-the-gods first and foremost.
And that’s a really interesting character trait to play with! It’s so cool picking apart characters and seeing how they embody traits and aspects of their divine ancestors! And you can lean into that in so many things! If you’re writing meta/character analysis, if you’re writing a specific character for a fic or something, if you’re making a demigod OC - heck, I use this sort of analysis of what traits are common for demigods of specific divine ancestors for assigning cabins/etc to characters (and people, if I am requested to do so).
Amazing analysis of jason grace
Out of all the people he spent his years with it was only the picture of thalia grace that jason chose to have in his dorm room in the boarding school he was in and even in his last moments it was the picture of thalia that he chose to see before he knew he was going to and went to die . I wish if only thalia knew how much her Little brother loved and cared for her.
Jason is such a sucker for family just give this kid his own family and his happiness but no he just had to be butchered for no reason but I digress
Still to this day I can't beleive that they made a evil dimension to be the father of a phoenix
Just was thinking about how landon and hope would marry and would start their own family and I realised there was something interesting I could about this
Since the handon kids would be a walking nuclear power if their parents powers passed to them respectfully nature retaliates tries to create a balance and a loophole
They would have twins who would be each others loopholes one kid would take after landons phoenix aka god powers but would be dormant and would appear like human and weak initially until he starts to activate it gradually and grow just the way landon does the kid would be immortal just like landon who can only be killed by....
Enter the second twin who is a Tribrid takes after hope and this second twin will be the loophole created to kill the other twin that takes after Landon
And hence we could have the kids journey itself as a spin-off
Landon’s healing tears (when he comes back as a phoenix) are the loophole for healing Raf so he can live his life outside of the prison world without dying.
I thought rafael was king Arthur's bloodline right maybe his resurrection could happen with the help of his king arthur lore , not to say Landon's healing tears won't but rafael gotta have his storyline as well
Man I just wanna see no humanity god/hades landon to give the super (waste) squad the beating of their life they deserve especially mg and Kaleb
Oh man Landon couldn't even have a change of clothes despite him being one of the literal protagonist of the show
