Just a reminder that I am no longer active on this blog
Maybe I will be in the future if/when Jasper comes back, but as of right now I have no interest in returning to this blog.
Do you by chance know where I could watch what seems like the new Steven universe episodes? They seem to involve jasper!! :D I don't wanna miss anything.
Sorry, I’m not active on this blog anymore and haven’t been keeping up with su and wouldn’t happen to know
Tumblr needs to learn...
…that just because a character reminds you of someone, THEY ARE NOT THAT PERSON!
Same goes for characters you identify with. Its great that you’ve found a character to connect with, but they are not you.
I’m really sick of seeing posts like “this character reminds me of my abuser, why do people like them?”
Because the world doesn’t revolve around you. Other people don’t have access to your specific memories. We’re not a hive mind, even if fandom mentality tries to prove otherwise.
Yeah, it sucks that a character reminds you of someone negative in your life. But that character shouldn’t be blamed for that. I know that’s a difficult thing to do, because if something does have that “this reminds me off…” feel to it, you have a kneejerk reaction to it. Be it good or bad.
But you don’t get to use your specific history to police what other people like. Being an abuse victim is not an “I win” button. Because, guess what? You’re not alone. On the other side, there’s other people who may have similiar experiences. In fact, there’s a big chance that there are.
So when you use your specific history to “win” an argument/discussion, you are essentially saying that your history is more important than anyone elses. And, sorry, but it isn’t. You are the main character in your own story, not anyone else’s. Everyone has survived something, you are not unique. Its harsh, but true.
Don’t wanna see a specific character or topic? Blacklist it. Block it. Its your own responsibility to keep yourself free from whatever topic upsets you. Not anyone else’s.
Another argument I see a lot is “Jasper is an abuser, because I was abused” which…….do I really have to point out the flaws in that argument? Ok, maybe Jasper ticks of some warning signs for you. That sucks. But Jasper is not that person. And you are the only one who might have that reaction to her. Other people might find her to be a character they can identify with. Your experiences are not more valid than theirs.
What makes this argument worse is that certain posters that use this argument will also make stuff up to further their argument and, yes, the “I was abuser” WILL be in there somewhere. Because fandom thinks that that makes them some kind of authority on the subject. News flash, you’re not.
This attitude has led to other people feeling like they have to divulge their personal history in order to be allowed to counter-argue. And that is such bullshit. Like I said, your personal history is not an “I win” button. Its not about you!
Its gotten to the point where whenever I see posts that start with “I’m a abuse survivor…” I immediately check out. Because at this point, those posts are not going to be an interesting take on a character, a plot point or a story. It will instead be an entitled rant about why OP is right and why everyone else should agree, peppered with “I’m an abuse survivor” as a way to silence everyone who might disagree.
The people on Tumblr needs to realize three main things:
1) A character reminding you of someone doesn’t make them that person. That’s an association fallacy.
2) Your personal history is not an “I win” button. Its not unique, other people might have a similiar history. And theirs is just as valid as yours, so listen instead of talking over them.
3) Last, but not least: Its not about you!
When new su episodes air but they pick up another sub-plot completely unrelated to Jasper’s Redemption and she isn’t even mentioned
Judging from how after the ship crashed and she got stranded on Earth that Jasper took zero effort to contact Yellow Diamond (compared to Peridot whose number one objective was getting in contact with Homeworld to get off the planet) and instead chose to live out her revenge fantasy of destroying Rose Quartz while ignoring the actual mission objective of checking up on the Cluster; and judging from how Yellow Diamond specifically asked Peridot “where is the jasper I assigned you” and then sent the Ruby Squad to retrieve her, my guess is that it was Yellow Diamond who chose to take Jasper to serve under her after the War.
JASPER: I can either stay here on this garbage planet filled with Gems who, at best, want to shatter me or, at worst, want to imprison me within my own mind…
…or I can go back to Yellow Diamond.

i tend to draw malachite with a tuft of fur/hair going down her back and neck and i cannot believe i have yet to draw jasper with it too
Unnff! Fucking chills all over! ❤️
This is actually so hot
“Jasper shouldn’t be redeemed because children need to learn that you can’t save everyone.”
Except not every child will identify with Steven. Ideally, yes, children will watch this show and see themselves in Steven; the protagonist, the hero. I’d even agree that it’s simply human nature to cast ourselves as the protagonist of a story, because we want to believe that are the main character of our own narrative.
But this doesn’t always happen. Not every child comes from a supportive home, and not every child will see themselves as the protagonist in a “you can’t save everyone” narrative.
There are some children who see themselves as unlovable and worthless. Some children are alone and angry, some children have make mistakes and even hurt others, and when they look at Jasper, they will see themselves. When you reinforce the idea that “you can’t save everyone,” what some children will hear is, “I am not worthy of redemption. I am that one person who cannot be saved.”
That is why it is so important that we tell children that love conquers all, and that redemption is possible for everyone, even if you’re broken and angry, even if you make mistakes. Even if you lash out sometimes, even if everyone seems to hate you. You can still have a happy ending.
I keep trying to render gifs of Jasper but they keep corrupting
OH NO THAT WASN’T INTENTIONAL
can we just take a moment to consider what Jasper had to go through trying to catch all of those corrupted gems like
a corrupted gem runs into a supermarket trying to escape from her. Long story short, several thousand dollars in property damage ensured
Jasper trying to construct some sort of trap in order to catch the gems. Lots of trial and error
corrupted gems escaping from their cages
the first time Jasper sees a corrupted gem and she’s just “what the actual Fuck is that”
Jasper trying to tell the difference between an earth animal and a corrupted gem. Accidentally captures a bear
consider Jasper wrestling the bear
the zoo is filled with free “corrupted gems”
Jasper evades the police for stealing zoo animals
some of the petting zoo ducks imprint on her
Just fucking imagine what she had to go through to catch the one from Kindergarten Kid. Imagine it.
Jasper learns there is a big difference between what humans think a kindergarten is, and what gems think a kindergarten is
no Jasper do not headbutt the goats
omg i had to draw this <3
“Even though the filler episodes are very cute and nice, I’d really like to get back into the plot. The crewniverse cant just corrupt Jasper and have her bubbled and then just say “Well that’s that.”“

Damn it, Amethyst.
Question for the jasper fandom.
Hey guys, I have an honest question. I know the jasper fandom is made up of mostly people over 18 but how do you feel about younger jasper fans?
Would you be willing to talk to younger jasper fans? I know they are young but young people are capable of being mature and guys…a lot of them need people to talk too.
They want to have safe spaces and if they are part of the fandom, I think we should be willing to give them that. Most of them need it now more than ever.
Of course!!!! I´m a safe refuge!! Come to me, y’all!! Every Jasper fan is part of our family!!
I'm here to help anyone of any age~
honestly I think my favorite thing about Jasper is that she’s such a fucking drama hoe
So far she has:
-gotten a cape specially made for the sole purpose of wanting to look dramatic and fabulous in front of her enemies.
- put on eyeliner for a fight.
-literally paused what she was doing just so “Rose” could take a menacing picture of her, before disappearing into the unknown.
- made an exit walking backwards into the ocean, and paused to say a one liner before sinking down completely when it was so totally unnecessary of her to do so.
If/ when Jasper gets redeemed all I’m saying is peridot is gonna have good run for her money in terms of the biggest dork in the group
Not to mention she came out of her exit hole FLEXING my god I love her
Jasper is a Drama Queen and I love her ♡♡♡
I was mad and sad the past couple of days so I put it all into a grumpy, lumbering Jasper
Have my newest Jasper fart.
In light of the most recent Steven Universe episodes, I felt in necessary to make this. Feel free to put it on your blog if you want to join the Official Jasper Rescue Squad.

When Jasper initially disdains fusion as "a cheap tactic to make weak Gems strong", do you suppose she has anyone in particular in mind? Rubies, expendable common soldiers, seem to be made with ready stackability in mind (Crystal Ruby's sin being her choice of partner)--but I'm betting that Jasper--a Gem from the wrong side of the tracks, but who won the gemetic lottery--is pointedly distancing herself from those *other* Beta Kindergarten Quartzes, who probably do rely heavily on fusion.
Yes! A very good point coming from Anon here. There is a dichotomy between the gems we’ve seen who’ve needed to fuse in order to accomplish their tasks (e.g. the Rubies) compared to those who don’t.
For instance, Sapphire immediately response with “Of course not,” cutting off Ruby when the latter asked if she’d ever fused before in The Answer. Higher-ranking, rarer gems, aren’t expected to have to fuse at all.
And I’ve mentioned before, that Jasper has been trying to distance herself from the Beta quartzes and the corrupted quartzes. She’s trying to find a tangible difference between them so that she can justify the system she’s been led to believe is “good for gems.”
Which brings us to two interesting points. First, that Jasper ended up corrupting. That’s a tear in the fabric of her mind. And I’ll talk about it at length later on, but it speaks of a dissonance, like she’s forgotten who she’s supposed to be. And to someone like Jasper, whose first impressions are that she’s absolutely certain of where she stands, it speaks a lot of what’s actually going through her head.
Second, that Jasper knew how to fuse. In Jail Break, she asks Lapis to fuse with her. She puts out her hand and twirls the Lapis before dipping her. Jasper knows how to do the fusion dance, and she knows the kind of mental synchronicity fusion entails. Contrast this with how Pearl and Amethyst tried and failed to form Opal in Giant Woman and we get to see how fusing isn’t that easy.
This shows us that Jasper has had some fusion experience before, and likely it wasn’t a very good one for her to have the notions she did about fusion when she first arrived.
