âŠADORABLEâ€ïžâ€ïžâ€ïžâŠ
If you think Kakashi reads porn, youâve only watched Naruto through TikTok videos.
[An other long post because this is one of those misconceptions again that take me out.]
---
There is a difference between a running gag and a character flaw. And somewhere along the way, fandom decided to collapse that difference... which honestly makes me a little sad.
Yes, Kakashi reads the Icha Icha series written by Jiraiya. That is canon.
But what those books are, and how the narrative frames them, matters a lot.
So let's look at them - what they are:
They are adult romance novels.
They are text-based fiction (yes, with erotica in them, but also with plot, emotional arcs, longing, and melodrama woven into the story.) They are publicly sold and serialized.
They are treated in the Naruto universe as mildly embarrassing comedy.
What they are NOT:
They are not depicted as graphic magazines (everything's based on the reader's imagination)
They are not framed as moral corruption hidden behind a cute cover.
They are not presented as something dark or predatory (They really aren't)
The joke about the books is simple.
Kakashi reads them at the worst possible times - during missions, during conversations, in moments that demand seriousness.
The humor comes from the contrast: An elite, battle-hardened jonin calmly holding a smutty romance novel while chaos unfolds around him.
Thatâs the punchline.
Not that heâs depraved. Not that heâs secretly sick. Not that heâs a predator.
If that were the intent, the framing would be entirely different.
Canon even reinforces how harmless they are.
When Naruto returns from training with Jiraiya after three years, he brings Kakashi the newest volume of the Icha Icha series as a gift.He also penly admits that whatâs inside the book is boring. He says he doesnât understand why Kakashi likes it. But he gives it to him anyway, because he knows Kakashi enjoys reading them.
And what's also important is that:
He isnât disgusted. He isnât scandalized. He isnât disturbed by the content - and he clearly knows it to some extent.
If these books were meant to signal predatory behavior, the narrative would not treat them this way. Naruto, the teenage protagonist, would not casually hand one over with mild annoyance and a shrug.
The story frames Kakashi's reading habits as a character quirk. Nothing less, nothing more.
And from the Kakashi retsuren novels we also get to know that he genuinely enjoys reading in general... these books just happen to be his favorites.
Then thereâs how Kakashi relates to women based purely on what we actually see in the canon materials.
(Yes, i do consider the novels canon as Kishimoto supervised them.)
He respects Tsunade.
Not just formally as Hokage, but genuinely. He listens to her. He trusts her judgment. There is no condescension in how he speaks to her.
He is consistently kind to Sakura.
He mentors her seriously. He protects her. He acknowledges her growth. He takes her potential seriously - not as "the girl on the team," but as a capable fighter and medic.
And then there is Rin.
What Kakashi carries for Rin lasts a lifetime. It shapes him in his youth, haunts him for years, and follows him into adulthood.
Even after a long while, even when his trauma becomes integrated and quieter - he still remembers her, but now from a place of quiet acceptance.
And most importantly:
He never catcalls women.
He never makes sexual comments toward them.
He never disrespects women because they are women.
He never treats women as inherently weaker or lesser.
There is no canon moment where Kakashi belittles a womanâs capability simply because she is female. There is no casual sexism. No entitlement. Nothing.
His âIcha Ichaâ gag never spills into how he interacts with actual women in his life. The boundary is absolute there.
And when you move into post-war canon - Kakashi Hiden - the direction becomes even clearer.
His romantic interest there is not naive. He doesn't fall for a young and easily influenced women or someone who would be dazzled by his power.
He quietly falls to a mature woman, who is politically competent, emotionally complex, carries her own trauma and strong in her own right.
If Kakashi were written as a shallow pervert archetype, that would not be the narrative choice in the novel either.
Instead, he is drawn to someone who mirrors him in depth and resilience, to an equal in age, experience, and strength.
That is why reducing Kakashi Hatake to a âfunny porn addictâ ignores the framing, the consistency of his behavior, and the emotional depth of his character.
If weâre going to critique characters, letâs critique what is actually there.
Because canon Kakashi is many things: mildly detached, grieving, guarded, sarcastic, deeply loyal, profoundly shaped by trauma.
But a predatory pervert?
Thatâs a ridiculously wrong fandom take.
And if his only "perversion" is reading smutty romance novels publicly without harming anyone, without disrespecting anyone, without objectifying the women in his life? Then that says more about how fandom chooses to frame him than about how he is actually written.
Especially when you consider who Kakashi is early in the series.
He is carrying unresolved trauma. He is living with active survivorâs guilt. He is emotionally isolated because he avoids connection out of fear of loss.
It is not unreasonable to read his attachment to those romance novels as escapism - as longing filtered through distance. Stories about connection, intimacy, and emotional closeness consumed safely on a page.
For someone struggling with intimacy because of complex PTSD, that interpretation makes far more narrative sense than the caricature people reduce him to.
You can dislike the gag. That's fair. You can critique Kishimotoâs humor.
But turning Kakashi into a meme about porn addiction isnât all right.
Itâs a wild fan take that collapses nuance for the sake of exaggeration.
And Kakashi - as he is written - deserves much better than that.

Sorry again for posting such a long take on this one, but my nerves catch on fire when i hear someone casually calls him a pervert because they were too lazy to actually get to know the story and the narrative around the character.

I find it kind of funny that Shane is labelled the "i can fix him" romance of sdv but...he really isn't. You, the player, actually do very little in terms of "fixing" him. You watch him have a few breakdowns, and you intervene when he's drunk on the cliffs, but...he's the one who decides to start going to therapy. He's the one who decides to quit drinking. These are not things that you ever encourage him to do. You can headcanon certain interactions all you want, but this isn't like "the player chooses the genre of Elliott's future book." You have no impact on whether or not Shane cleans up his life. You support him at a few key moments, but the desire to change and be better comes from Shane, not the player.
You don't fix him. He fixes himself.
Not my art!!

7 MINUTES IN HEAVEN
title speaks for itself GRRAAAAAAHHHHHđŠ đŠ đŠ
USHIJIMA WAKATOSHI
You didnât even want to play.
It started as a silly party game. Spin-the-bottle. Then someone said, âLetâs do 7 Minutes in Heaven!â and suddenly the bottle landed on you.
And Ushijima Wakatoshi.
Cue stunned silence. Some giggles. A very confused (and very tall) volleyball captain blinking slowly as someone gestured to the closet.
ââŠI donât think heâll fit in there,â someone whispered.
He tried. He actually tried. But when he gently knocked over a broom and muttered, âApologies,â someone quickly pointed to the bathroom instead.
And now you were perched on the edge of a cold bathtub while Wakatoshi stood near the sink like a polite guest unsure if he should take his shoes off or not.
He hadnât said a word. He wasnât awkwardâjust so calm. Like he was in a pre-game huddle instead of a dim bathroom with soft yellow light and one nervous girl.
Finally, you mumbled, âSo... this is happening.â
He looked at you. âYes. I believe we are here for seven minutes.â
You let out a tiny laugh. âYou sound like you're giving a weather report.â
He blinked. âIâm sorry. Should I not be?â
You covered your mouth, trying not to laugh harder. âNo! Itâs cute.â
He tilted his head. âCute?â
Your heart flipped. âI mean. Not like cute-cute. Just. Youâre... you. And itâs nice.â
Silence again. He looked down at your hands. You were fidgeting with your sleeves.
âIâve never played this before,â he said softly. âWhat⊠usually happens?â
You looked up at him, cheeks warm. âIt depends. Usually something dumb. Or something... fun.â
ââŠFun,â he echoed. âLike talking?â
âYeah. Or kissing.â
Oh god. You said that.
You said that.
He didnât reactânot with surprise, not with a flinch. He just⊠looked at you with those deep, steady eyes.
And then he asked, âWould it be alright⊠if I kissed you?â
Your brain short-circuited. âY-Yeah. Thatâs⊠yeah.â
He stepped forward. Slowly. Carefully. Like you were something precious and he was afraid of breaking it. His hand brushed your cheek, warm and impossibly gentle for someone so strong.
And thenâhe kissed you.
Soft. Curious. Sweet.
Like he wasnât sure if this was okay but hoped it was.
When he pulled back, his voice was barely a whisper. âYouâre⊠very soft.â
You laughed quietly, forehead resting against his chest now because honestly you couldnât make eye contact. âYouâre not so bad yourself.â
A knock on the door made you both jump. âTimeâs up!â
He stepped back, flustered but still composed. âThat was... nice.â
You looked up at him, cheeks warm. âWanna walk out with me?â
He nodded.
And just before opening the door, he asked, âWould it be alright if⊠we tried that again sometime?â
You smiled. âYeah. Iâd really like that.â
GOSHIKI TSUTOMU
Goshiki had mentally prepared himself for a pop quiz, a practice match, even accidentally calling the teacher "Mom." But absolutely not for being spun into a closet with you.
It was dark. Cramped. Smelled faintly of lavender dryer sheets and someoneâs leftover cologne. You could barely shift without brushing knees, and the moment you didâ
He jolted like he'd touched a live wire.
âH-Hi,â he whispered, voice cracking halfway through.
You grinned. âHey.â
He was clearly trying to keep it together. Bent slightly at the knees, arms crossed like he was afraid of offending a coat hanger, and eyes trained firmly on the wall.
âThis game is kinda weird,â you said softly.
âI-I donât know why I agreed,â he blurted out, panicked. âI think my brain⊠glitched. Like, full system error. My dignity is currently on life support.â
You tried to stifle a giggle.
His eyes widened. âNot because of you! Youâre not weird! Youâreâuhâyouâre really nice. And warm. I meanânot like, temperature warm. I havenât touched you! Not in a weird way! I mean like⊠your energy. Your presence. Itâs warm? In a good way?? Oh no, Iâm making it worse, arenât I?â
You were giggling into your hand now, biting back a full-on laugh.
Then you leaned just a little closer. Your voice dropped into something gentler, softer. âTsutomu⊠do you want me to kiss you?â
He froze.
Absolutely, prehistoric-animal-sensing-danger still.
âUm. Iâuhâmaybe? I mean. Yes? I wouldnât be against it. Definitely not against it. Thatâs a yes. Probably. I meanâyes. Yes.â
You smiled, heart fluttering a little at the way his voice squeaked on the last word. So you leaned in and kissed him.
Short. Sweet. Gentle.
Like pressing a daisy into his hand and watching him short-circuit.
He blinked, mouth slightly open.
âIâŠâ he whispered, stunned. âI think I forgot how to breathe.â
You giggled again and rested your hand lightly on his arm. âThatâs okay. Iâll help you remember.â
Outside, someone knocked on the door. âTimeâs up!â
You turned the handle, but before opening it, you looked back at himâred-faced, wide-eyed, chest rising way too fast like his heart was trying to punch its way out.
He mumbled, dazed and completely flustered, âIâm gonna need emotional support after this.â
You smiled, eyes twinkling. âGood. Because I was hoping you'd let me be the one to give it.â
And that? That almost made him faint.
SHIRABU KENJIRO
Shirabu didnât even want to play. âIâm here to drink soda and survive high school, not spin bottles like an idiot,â he grumbled, arms crossed, glaring at the circle of chaos around him.
But then you spun the bottle. And it landed right on him.
Now, here he was, sitting awkwardly in a dusty closet on top of someoneâs old board games, knees bumping against yours every time one of you so much as breathed.
âThis is dumb,â he muttered into the dark, voice sharp as ever.
You leaned in slightly, eyes playful. âYou could just enjoy it, yâknow.â
He rolled his eyes. âEnjoy what? Breathing recycled air and contemplating my life choices?â
You smiled. âMe.â
Silence.
Dead silence.
And thenâhis ears turned such a violent shade of red you were half-convinced he was overheating.
âYouâre so annoying,â he mumbled, avoiding eye contact, but it sounded suspiciously soft. And then you leaned in and kissed him.
Just once.
Just enough.
His eyes flew wide open, stunned. His brain short-circuited. His whole body paused for exactly two seconds. Then, mumbling something that sounded like "unbelievable," he leaned in and kissed you back.
It wasnât gentle. It was clumsy, a little desperate, a little too quickâlike he was trying to make up for the time he wasted pretending he didnât want it.
Your hands tangled in his hair. He made a low sound in his throat when you tugged his hoodie. âWatch the collar,â he muttered, scowling into your mouth.
But then he grabbed your waist like he forgot how to not touch you.
You ended up in his lap somehow. His hands ghosted under your shirtâjust a little, just enough to make his brain completely malfunction.
You leaned back, lips barely apart, whispering, âYou like this, donât you?â
He rolled his eyes againâbut the sharp inhale he took totally betrayed him. âShut. Up.â
You didnât. You just kissed him again.
And again. And again.
At some point, time stopped being real. Minutes? Hours? Who even knew?
Thenâ
Click.
âGuys?â
The closet door creaked open. Light poured in.
You were still on Shirabu. His hoodie was halfway off his shoulder. Your faces were flushed. Chests rising and falling like youâd just run laps.
You both stared at the doorway like startled deer.
Gasps from the group. A very clear camera shutter. (Goshiki, you little gremlin.)
You scrambled back like the floor was on fire. Shirabu yanked his hoodie up, scowling with the fury of ten suns.
âYou didnât even knock?! What if we wereâwhat if I had myâYou know what?! Iâm not doing this.â
He stormed off, face blazing, hoodie wrinkled, and lips very, very kiss-wrecked.
Later that night, someone had the audacity to ask:
âSo⊠you liked it, huh?â
Shirabu didnât even blink. âIâd rather wrestle a cactus than talk about it.â
But when you winked at him across the room, he immediately looked down. And smiled.
A tiny, shy, completely out-of-character smile that heâd deny for the rest of his life.
KUROO TETSURO
It was supposed to be a joke.
âCâmon, itâll be fun,â your friends said.
âTotally harmless,â they said.
And now?
Now you were squished into a dim, definitely-too-small closet with Kuroo TetsurĆâand he was smirking at you like a cat who just spotted a cornered mouse.
âWell, well, well,â he drawled, leaning casually against the wall, ankles crossed. âDidnât know I was your type.â
You nearly choked on your own breath. âW-What? Youâre not.â
âSure,â he said, eyes gleaming. âThatâs why youâre blushing so hard I could toast marshmallows on your face.â
You flailed. âItâs dark in here! You canât even seeâ!â
âShy, jumpy, and adorable,â he muttered, like he was ticking off a list. âCheck, check, and check.â
You backed into a coat. The coat stabbed you with its hanger. You tried to act normal about it and definitely did not succeed.
Kuroo took a step forward.
Not threatening. Not fast. Just⊠slow. Confident. Like he knew he was in your head and now he was redecorating.
âSo,â he murmured, voice dipping low, âweâve got about seven minutes of uninterrupted darkness⊠What do you wanna do, kitten?â
You squeaked. Squeaked.
Your ancestors felt that secondhand embarrassment.
âI-I donât know! Talk? Maybeâuhâmaybe not talk???â
âWow. Convincing,â he chuckled.
And thenâas if he hadnât already shattered your brain into glitterâhe leaned in close.
So close his breath fanned your cheek. So close you could smell his cologne and the stupid mint gum he always chewed like a cocky menace.
âRelax,â he whispered. âIâm not gonna bite⊠unless you ask nicely.â
Your soul left your body.
He kissed youâsoft at first, teasing, coaxing. And when you finally kissed back (shy but definitely melting), he hummed like heâd just won a game.
When the door finally creaked open, both of you blinked into the light.
Kuroo? Hair a little messier, smirk fully loaded. You? Probably looked like a tomato that had been microwaved and emotionally unprepared.
âFun?â one of your friends grinned.
Kuroo stretched like a cat, then winked at you. âLetâs just say... she didnât hate it.â
You smacked his arm.
He leaned down and whispered, âYouâre cute when you get all flustered, yâknow that?â
You were never trusting a spin-the-bottle circle again. But also... maybe closets werenât so bad.
KENMA KOZUME
It was definitely not his idea.
Kenma had been peacefully playing a game on his phone, hoodie sleeves pulled over his hands, when someone (probably Yamamoto, because chaos) shoved him toward the circle.
âItâs your turn, Kenma!â
He blinked. âNo, itâs not.â
âIt is now!â
The bottle spunâand of course it pointed to you. Of course you smiled like the universe planned this from the start. And now here you both were: squished inside a closet with hardly enough space for air, let alone feelings.
Kenma sat cross-legged, back against the wall, hoodie strings clenched between his fingers. His knee brushed yours and it was over for him.
ââŠHi,â you said, voice soft like a secret.
â...Hey.â His voice came out rougher than expected. His cheeks? Full-on LED mode. Someone please unplug him.
You tucked your chin on your knees. âThis is kind of cute, donât you think?â
âCute?â he echoed, like the word glitched in his brain.
You giggled. âYeah. You. This.â
Kenma looked down, tugging his sleeves over his hands. âIâI donât really do well with this kind of thing.â
You tilted your head. âYouâre doing just fine.â
He peeked at you through his hair. âYouâre⊠really close.â
âMhm,â you hummed, sliding a tiny bit closer. âBothered?â
ââŠNo,â he admitted, breath catching.
You reached out and gently cupped his cheek, warm beneath your fingers. He stiffened for half a secondâthen melted. Absolutely melted.
âStill okay?â you whispered.
He nodded slowly.
So you kissed him. Light at first. Barely there. Testing the waters.
His whole body went still. You pulled back slightly, gauging him.
And thatâs when he leaned in.
It was shy and hesitant and everything. His lips brushed yours, sweet and unsure, and then againâlike heâd figured out how to breathe through kissing and now he didnât want to stop.
One hand found your waist, feather-light. You tugged on his hoodie, deepening the kiss just a little, just enough to make his fingers twitch against you. The world narrowed to this one space. Warm breath, tangled knees, a hoodie that smelled like him, and kisses that turned into more kisses until the timer on this tiny moment of heaven was dangerously close to running out.
When he finally pulled away, cheeks flushed and eyes dazed, he exhaled softly. âIâI think my game just crashed.â
You laughed, kissing the corner of his mouth. âWant a restart?â
âI want another seven minutes,â he murmured, surprising even himself.
The door creaked openâ
âMY BOY IS BLUSHING!â came Kurooâs voice before a shoe was thrown and the door slammed shut again.
YAKU MORISUKE
âItâs just a game,â they said. âItâll be funny,â they said. And now Yaku was trapped in a closet with you and regretting every decision that led to this moment.
Wellâmaybe not every decision.
You were sitting way too close, your knee lightly bumping his, and you were looking at him like you were planning something.
He didnât trust it. Not one bit. Also, his face was already on fire.
âYou okay?â you asked innocently.
âIâm fine,â he muttered, stiff and tense like he was bracing for impact.
You tilted your head. âYou donât look fine.â
âIâm totally calm,â he added, which wouldâve been more convincing if his voice didnât crack halfway through.
And then you grinned.
âProve it.â
ââŠHuh?â
You poked his cheek. He flinched.
You poked the other one. âStop thatâ!â
Then your fingers slipped under his arms and started tickling him.
âAUGHâY/N!!â he yelped, twisting and trying to squirm away but failing miserably in the tiny space. âNOâWAITâTIME OUTâ!!â
But you were merciless.
âSay youâre flustered!â you laughed.
âNEVER!â he squeaked, trying not to kick the closet door open.
You leaned in closer. âSay it~â
âIâokay, okay!! Iâm flustered!! Happy now?!â he gasped, breathless, red, and borderline combusting.
You grinned. âVery.â
He glared at you with wide eyes and a red face. âYouâre evil.â
You, shrugging sweetly: âYou love it.â
He opened his mouth to argue, but before he could say a word, you kissed him.
It shut him up real fast.
His hands were frozen at firstâthen they found your waist. And then it all melted.
What started soft turned into something needier, warmer, and a little desperate like heâd been holding back since the door closed. Like maybe he wanted this just as badly as you did.
Your hands slid into his hair. He kissed you like heâd been waiting a long time to do it properly. And despite how flustered heâd been earlier, now he was leading itâpulling you close, tilting your chin up, mouth hot and just shy of reckless.
The air in the closet shifted.
So did your knees.
Somehow you ended up in his lap, his back against the wall, your lips still tangled and breaths short between kisses.
You pulled away slightly, just to whisper: âStill flustered?â
He smirked, breathless. âVery.â
And then he kissed you again like he didnât care if the whole team heard.
When the door finally opened, you were both a little rumpled, a little pink, and definitely not making eye contact with anyone.
Lev blinked. âDid you guys⊠wrestle?â
Yaku grabbed the door, slammed it shut, and yelled through it: âWE NEED ANOTHER SEVEN MINUTES. THANKS.â
KAGEYAMA TOBIO
Kageyama stood by the wall like he was buffering in real life.
âSeven minutes!â someone shouted, plopping a bottle into the middle like it was a bomb.
The bottle spun.
The tension? Horrible. The squeak it made? Worse.
Thenâit pointed. At you.
Everyone: âOHHHHHHH!!!â
You: âNice.â
Kageyama: âWhâHUH?â
He stared at the bottle like it just personally betrayed him. Then he stared at you like you made the bottle betray him. Then at the closet like it was the final boss.
âCloset. Now.â Bokuto shoved him toward it like a freight train.
He stumbled in. You followed with the energy of someone going to a vending machine.
Click. Door shut. Game on.
Kageyama stood in the corner like you just caught him stealing snacks.
You tried. You really did. âSoâŠâ
He flinched. âHMM?!â
ââŠYou okay?â
âYES.â
ââŠYou sure?â
âIâIâam alive.â
ââŠOkay then.â
He was breathing like someone just made him run laps in emotional turmoil. Fists clenched. Cheeks red. Brain in shambles.
You stepped closer. âYouâre nervous.â
âWHAAâNO.â His voice cracked halfway through. âI meanâyes. But NO. But also yes. Wait. What was the question?â
You snorted. âRelax. Itâs just a game.â
He opened and closed his mouth like a confused baby bird. âActuallyâI was gonna say something. Before this. Like. Way before. But now weâre in a closet and itâs worse. I mean better. I MEANâconveniently horrifyingâWAIT NOââ
You poked his cheek. âTobio.â
He made a tiny squeak. âMep.â
You smiled. âJust say it.â
He stared at you, face hot enough to toast bread. âI like you, okay?! Iâve liked you for a while. And I think about you all the time and youâre always nice to me and I donât know how to flirt so I just yell and give you milkââ
You leaned in, cupped his face, and kissed him.
He made a tiny âmrrph?â Then a âhhhfâ!â And maybe a whimper?
Full panic. Zero control. His brain yeeted itself into orbit.
He kissed backâshaky, soft, like he was afraid heâd explode if he messed it up (which, in fairness, he might).
You pulled away after a second, smug. âStill alive?â
He blinked. âIâuhâpossibly?â
Someone outside yelled, âTIME!â
He jumped. âWHAT?! NOâWAIT, I BARELY GOT TOââ
You grabbed his hand and opened the door.
He followed you out, dazed.
Everyone: âOhhhhhh~â
Kageyama: âMmfrhrrgh.â
You: âDonât worry, he confessed. It was adorable.â
Him, whispering in shock: âI made noises.â
You, grinning: âYeah. You absolutely did.â
TANAKA RYUNOSUKE
âYOOOO letâs GOOOOO,â Tanaka howled when the bottle pointed at you, standing up like he just got called to the big leagues.
You rolled your eyes but smiled. âDonât get ahead of yourself, Ryu.â
âOh, Iâm already there,â he winked, straightening his collar like he was walking into a music video and not a dusty broom closet.
But the moment the door clicked shut behind you two?
Silence.
You turned, expecting a smug comment or at least a dumb little laughâbut Tanaka?
Tanaka Ryunosuke was frozen.
Back pressed to the wall, eyes staring ahead like he was being interrogated by the FBI.
ââŠYou good?â you asked.
He nodded.
ââŠYou sure?â
He nodded faster.
You raised an eyebrow. âRyu, you were literally barking ten seconds ago.â
âI panicked,â he croaked, voice cracking like a puberty rerun.
You stepped closer, arms crossed. âSo Mr. âLetâs GOOOOâ suddenly forgot how to talk?â
âI didnât forget,â he mumbled. âI justâuhâIâm⊠mentally buffering.â
You bit your lip to hide your grin. âWow. Never thought Iâd see Tanaka Ryunosuke, High Priest of Chaos, rendered speechless in a closet.â
âI talk a big game, okay?â he finally muttered. âBut Iâve never actually been this close to you. Like, this close-close. Voluntary-close.â
You blinked. âWait. Are you nervous?â
âNo,â he said, voice cracking again. âMaybe. Shut up.â
You laughed, stepping forward and gently flicking his forehead. âYouâre adorable.â
He looked like he might melt through the floor.
And before he could combust entirely, you leaned in and kissed himâquick, warm, right on the lips.
He made a soft âhnhnn!â Followed by a helpless, breathy whimper that mightâve broken his soul in half.
He stood there, lips still puckered, eyes wide, like his entire system just blue-screened.
Then, dazed, he whispered, âI saw God for like two seconds.â
You giggled. âSeven minutes of heaven, remember?â
Tanaka, recovering from cardiac arrest: âI thought Iâd be louder in here.â
You: âSame.â
Door swings open.
The team: âWHATâD YOU DO IN THERE?â
Tanaka: â...........Taxes.â
BOKUTO KOUTARO
The bottle spun. It landed on you.
The room went, âOOOOOOOHHHHH!!!â
And Bokuto? Bokuto blinked like someone just unplugged him.
âWait, wait, wait,â he held up both hands. âWHY is everyone yelling?? What does it mean?!â
Akaashi sighed from the couch. âIt means you go into the closet with her.â
âWhat?!â Bokuto looked at you, then the bottle, then you again. âWHY THO?â
âBecause youâre the chosen ones,â someone snickered.
âCHOSEN FOR WHAT?!â
âTo be alone in a dark, tiny closet,â you explained calmly. âFor seven minutes.â
Bokuto gasped. âAM I IN TROUBLE?!â
You grabbed his hand. âNo. Youâre in a party game.â
âOh. Okay!â he beamed, and followed you like a confused golden retriever.
The door clicked shut behind you.
Bokuto squinted at the darkness. âOkay, so⊠now what? Is this like hide and seek? Sardines? Are there sardines??â
You stifled a laugh. âNo sardines. Just you and me.â
He hummed, then realized the closeness. Then realized your face was right there. Then realizedâhe might actually be sweating a little.
âOh,â he said.
You smiled, leaning against the wall. âYouâve never played this before, huh?â
âNope! I was homeschooled.â (He wasnât.)
You giggled. âYouâre cute.â
Bokuto.exe: CRITICAL SYSTEM ERROR
âHUH?!â
âI said youâre cute,â you repeated. âAnd I donât mind being in here with you.â
Bokutoâs voice came out half-pitched. âY-you donât?!â
âNope,â you said, now closing the space between you with all the confidence of someone who knew exactly what they wanted. âIn factâŠâ
You reached out, placing your hands on his chest, feeling the way it tightened under your touch.
âI was kinda hoping the bottle would land on you.â
Bokuto looked like he got hit by a flying volleyball and liked it.
ââŠYou mean, on purpose?â
âYes.â
ââŠLike fate?!â
âSure.â
You kissed him. He squeakedâthen whimpered softly against your lips, as if his brain short-circuited and his heart had too many feelings all at once. But his arms instinctively went around your waist and thenâsuddenlyâhe was kissing you back, eyes wide, then slowly fluttering shut like a Disney prince realizing heâs in love.
When you pulled away, he was just standing there. Blinking.
ââŠBokuto?â you teased, poking his cheek.
âYeah,â he whispered. âThat was DEFINITELY better than sardines.â
The door burst open.
Bokuto stumbled out, still holding your hand.
âIâM IN LOVE!!!â he shouted at the party.
Everyone cheered.
Then, softly, under his breathâ
ââŠOh my god,â he whimpered. âShe kissed me. She kissed me.â
Akaashi blinked. âHeâs broken.â
âHeâs so happy,â someone whispered.
âHeâs ascending,â Bokuto whispered. âDonât talk to me. Iâm in the clouds.â
(this was also rotting in my drafts......)
