6 yrs ago I was dating a truck driver and we were trying to start our own company but neither of us had any dispatch experience. I applied every where with in an hr of our home for a dispatching job with no luck. So after being told no a hundred times because I didn’t have any driving experience I went and got my CDL and started driving. 4 ½ yrs ago I got a driving job with the company Im with now and ended up screwing up my shoulder on a delivery so they moved me into Dispatch on the 3rd shift. I worked my way from 3rd to 2nd to night manager to 1st shift dispatcher. 2 ½ years ago I was promoted to the Dispatch Managers position. I was responsible for 200+ drivers, all dispatch personnel and 2400+ stores in 7 states. I loved it. A year ago my GM & Director were let go and new ones were put in place. I was demoted back to 1st shift Dispatcher because I didn’t have the knowledge and experience for that position. Ive been told Im the best dispatcher this company has ever had in 75 yrs. I enjoy it and Im good at it but Im not happy. The new GM has made me train my replacement who has zero experience. If any thing goes wrong at all, all 3 of my bosses come running to me for answers. Yesterday I accepted a position with the company my former GM runs making $7500 less a year. Im scared shitless about it but I think it will be the best thing for me.
Sorry for the long post but don’t have anyone to bent to right now.
