One of the best tips I've ever received from my tailor was, “Shop your size.” Purchasing a size bigger than what you normally wear may not end with the best fit. You create more work for your tailor and may pay more out of pocket.

This window pane suit by Banana Republic was hemmed up and slimmed down. It turned out to be a painless exercise because I shopped my size.
