This is true, and honestly sure do whatever at this point (I literally don't care about the pronouns part, Ive addressed that before and pronouns do not equal gender, I think its fine as long as people don't purposefully use a pronoun to be a dick) but you still have to note that the canon is that Jax is transfem, whether people like or accept that or not. It's been canonized. No going back now. Also, if you genuinely have good intentions or just keep it to yourself or something for the sake of wanting to be represented, ok fine I understand that, but that doesn't mean people won't take this and use it with malicious intent to try and disregard Jax's canonical status or to otherwise be blatantly transphobic. I'm not saying every single headcanon that goes against her transfem identity is done in bad faith or could be legitimately harmful or malicious, I'm just saying it's completely possible and just because you have permission doesn't mean you need to be an asshole by projecting transphobia (or let's be real, transmisogyny) onto a character you happen to dislike being transfem for whatever reason.

A reaction youtuber I like reacted to the final episode and I was. Pretty nervous at first because he started the video with “Sometimes I miss things, sorry if I miss obvious themes/scenes”, so imagine my relief when he clocked the gender dysphoria thing IMMEDIATELY and said, explicitly, “Okay, so trans Jax is just canon now, right?”. He did use he/him for Jax for most of the video (they/them during parts he added during edited), but added a small disclaimer at the bottom of the screen that said it didn’t occur to him to switch pronouns until after and that he’s sorry for using he/him. And it’s just both relieving and baffling to me that a man who has openly identified as cishet and who said he missed themes understood the message better than so many queer, sometimes even trans, people

It's cultural appropriation given the crew's racist history and white people now taking over the song and claiming it as a (white)trans women's anthem, even though they don't bother listening to Black songs any other time. Also the singer for the cover loves Shadman.

Someone in the notes mentioned how art is meant to be shared and interpreted however, but I do want to point out that doesn't mean you can never misinterpret. Since this site can only ever understand these struggles thru cartoons: it's like how in COCO the villain stole his best friend's song about reuniting with his beloved daughter, and changed the context to a flirty and sexual love song. That's just terrible, but imagine everything Black people produce goes through that process.

I personally am not black so this usage doesn't impact me at all outside the trans symbolism the song is used for IN THE EPISODE, but I was curious to see what other people thought about goose using that song rather than one by a non black artist.

I have no ill intent with this poll and take no stance on this myself as I do not believe it is my place to speak on, I just thought the short brought up an interesting discussion around this choice that id like to see the community's opinion on.
