UPDATE!!! Please stop scrolling and help a disabled person!
Hi! Most of you know me as Amanda: genderfluid, pansexual, extremely fond of rare pairings, cats, and jewelry. What you may not know is that I spent all day Thursday and Friday in the hospital - which blows because now I can’t start my brand new Barnes & Noble job for at least two weeks. I could be selling books right now but nooooooo.
The day before I was supposed to start at BN College, my back gave out, and I ended up being admitted to the hospital for observation and an insane amount of pain killers. I apparently have a bulged disk, and it stopped juuuust short of me requiring surgery.
I’m getting home nursing out of all this starting tomorrow, which is nice since 1. my car is still busted and 2. neither my wife nor I can drive atm, but it doesn’t solve some immediate issues. I get a visit from a home nurse for pain management once a week, and a visit from a physical therapist to try to get me moving. Right now I’m still on bed rest until at least 8/18. This has resulted in me losing the job with BN College. I understand - I’d make the same decision as a manager too - and I’ve been invited to come back in October (and I so will!).
Unfortunately, the loss of that extra $2000 I would have earned between last week and the end of September is causing a lot of problems.
First of all, I have these four to feed:
Secondly, themonkeywithakeyboard is down to only having one pair of pants that fit - and they’re capris and fall is soon. She also has no bras or binders (we’re both genderfluid) and needs both badly!
The third issue is that if I go back to taking the bus when classes start back up, I’m going to make my back worse and then I will probably need surgery. I don’t have time surgery! I’ve got a degree to get! I need that car! My super sweet mechanic has been able to give me a sharp discount - my return lines from the engine to the gas tank are completely rusted through, and my brake line ruptured when some Air Force bitch nearly killed me on Route 4 last Monday and I had to slam on my brakes.
I can’t do this on my own. Chloe’s looking for work, but not having luck. There are four very big ways you can help, and they don’t take a lot of time!

I just know we can’t make it until the end of the month on our own, especially since we have no idea when I’ll be taken off of strict bed rest and may not even get to start my TA job on time (August 20th). I’m only allowed up to go to the bathroom and even that much hurts like hell. With the car dead, I also have to come up with gas money to bribe someone to take Chloe grocery shopping. We just really need help, and we have to have a car for me by the time school starts on August 25th. Have to.
