It was probably the fourth time this week, probably more, probably less. Jason had lost count, but he couldn’t help it. Something felt odd, strange. Different. Too different for his liking, and he couldn’t fathom it. Completely unable to understand it, Preston had changed, he had changed too much since the incident happened. Jason hated it, not because it was Preston, not because of what had happened, but because it wasn’t the Preston he knew. The Preston he fell in love with, this one was different, he wasn’t like he used to be. And Jason couldn’t understand it, and that drove him insane. That broke him. Something felt wrong about this whole situation. Something felt so wrong. And because of this all situation, Jason had grown distant with him. And at the same time, he grew distant with Sage.
But Sage wasn’t going to let that happen, he kept insisting that Jason needed to talk to him, to explain what was wrong, but he couldn’t. He just couldn’t find it in himself to do it. But eventually, after another attempt, he just stopped running away even though he couldn’t just yet find the right words to explain what he was feeling. “I... I don’t wanna talk about it.” he simply said, his eyes avoiding his boyfriend’s gaze, as if he was ashamed of himself and of the way he started acting with them both. “Nothing’s wrong. It’s not that. Can you let me go, now? There’s someone I wanna see.”
