kgminhwan:
minhwan needed jay. he needed to find him and ever since being with soohan he had been desperate to get back to him, and soohan had been helping– or well, he’d been helping until minhwan had gotten caught in a trap, his paw unable to be broken free and pained noises should’ve escaped his throat but instead came out throaty and broken. but that pain had been noting compared to the way a broken and burning tree had fallen onto him, straight onto his back and he’d heard the snap; or rather felt it. he could still move, but the pain was intense, and not just from the injuries caused by the tree, but the burns too from the fire that licked at his skin. it almost had him choking really, enough that he nearly gave out there and then. but minhwan had been lucky, and luck had brought mei who had helped him to where he was at now. where minhwan can see jay, smell his scent too and it’s like his vision is only zoning in on him now as the small wolf tries it’s best to drag himself forward.
his injured paw held close to his body, and it’s easy to see where he’s burned or the way his back caves in more than it should. it looks distorted, and he knows it– but he needs to get to jay. and if he could’ve made the noise, then a distressed and strangled cry would’ve left the poor wolf as soon as jay had gotten to him. minhwan sees the injuries too, but his mind focuses on just having jay with him right now all the same, and if he could cry right now he would. instead, minhwan nuzzles at the side of jay’s face, leaning into the touches before pressing their heads together gently, just taking in his presence and how easily it calms him. for a moment, he can forget the hunters or the way it reminds him of the past. he can forget his fear. but he knows in a few moments it’ll come back. but for now he can let jay know he’s alright– and that he hears him. they’d both get out of this safely this time.
jay is almost ready to just collapse, to just curl into minhwan’s side and let his body give out to the pain and the fear. but they’re not out of the woods yet, jay may have found minhwan, but that’s only the beginning, now he has to get the werewolf to safety. and minhwan looks... bad. his back looks like it’s broken almost beyond repair, his fur and skin burned, one of his paws bloodied and mangled. he needs medical attention, now. jay leans in as minhwan presses their heads together, nuzzles his face into minhwan’s fur and takes a deep breath in, lets minhwan’s familiar scent fill his lungs, and he focuses. they’re both alive, they’re together, there’s hope here. they can get out of this, but they need to keep moving. “okay,” jay whispers, pulling away just enough to stand up. he wraps his arms around minhwan’s shoulders—carefully, hoping not to hurt him any more than he already is—and presses his side against minhwan’s, using his whole body, every ounce of strength he has, to support the werewolf. he knows this is going to be painful for minhwan (for them both, really, but he’s not worrying about himself right now), but they can’t stay here. “I’ve got you. let’s go.” jay takes another deep breath in, pushing all his pain, his fear, his anguish to the back of his mind to be dealt with later, and focuses everything he has on moving the both of them towards the school.
