Flesh will never give us, what only the Divine will
The moment we find ourselves wanting to please another human is the moment we have disconnected to the essence of God’s total love for us. As I lean into the truth of His wisdom breathed through the scriptures I’m reminded that disappointment will happen. It is a certainty. He has shown me that loving others (and ourselves) well through failures and disappointments is a question of where I’ve placed my expectation. On God or on man. God is teaching, refining, renewing and loving us all uniquely and according to His purposes. If we believe this, our response will be one that reflects more of His love and not our emotional response that is attached to the failure. Failure is just another part of life. An uncomfortable part of life, but a necessary part and very normal part. Perspective is key and our reliance on God to help keep our perspective on Him is vital to deepening our relationship with Him. We begin to see how He is working in our lives vs. looking at the situation. It’s a prayer I find the Spirit whispering often in my ear…..”Lord guide my thoughts to Your purpose here.” As Oswald said in his devotion today “Stay right with God and let Him do as He likes, and you will find that He is producing the kind of bread and wine that will benefit His other children.” May we encourage and uplift each other as we go through this maturing process of becoming deeply zealous for our Lord.
