“Why is no one coming up to us?” Momo asked, hovering over the table that Nayeon, Jeongyeon and her were at. Well, Nayeon and Momo were at, Jeongyeon was sitting behind them a few feet but at least she was there. For the past 15 minutes people seemed to almost take a wider path to avoid the booth.
“Hey! Come join the musical!” Nayeon yelled at a scrawny kid who scurried away when he realized she was talking to him, Jeongyeon snorted a laugh.
“Maybe if you take off your shirt they’ll come up.”
“Just shut up and stay back there where no one can see you. People are probably afraid of coming up to you.”
“No experience required, everything can be taught!” Momo read off the paper Dahyun had given her stiffly.
“Hey how’s the tabling going?” Sana smiled as she passed by their table.
“Pretty much…awful. I don’t get it- usually I can’t get people to stop coming up to me,” Momo sighed.
“Well…I mean, I’m new but even I felt a little intimidated coming up to you guys. You’re not the most approachable group you know?”
“Not the most approachable? You three are like the Bermuda Triangle,” Jihyo appeared next to them, again with her clipboard, “Oh man, people may not be talking to you guys but they are for sure talking about you. I just had to see this for myself,“ she snapped a picture on her phone before turning to Sana, “Sana right? We haven’t officially met.”
“Oh I know who you are, Park Jihyo.”
“Right, I guess I have a bit of a reputation too-“
“No, I just notice all the cute girls,” she smiled easily, “Anyway, I’m gonna go look at the other clubs. Good luck!” Jeongyeon briefly looked up from her phone to watch Sana leave,“So, your new friend Minatozaki- super hot. You sleeping with her or should I?” Momo’s jaw clenched, feeling something she hadn’t felt to this intensity often- maybe ever: defensive, “Jeongyeon, I stay out of your way. Stay out of mine.”
“Oh so Minatozaki is yours, got it Captain,” she smirked.
“She’s not mine. We’re just friends.”
“Oh so you are insufferable to everyone. I don’t know if that should make me feel better or not,” Nayeon scoffed.
"Yikes, if you guys actually want involvement you’re going to have to change your strategy,” Jihyo suggested at their bickering.
“Sit in, would ya?” Jeongyeon stood, patting Jihyo on the back.
“Wait what? I have other things- and she’s gone. I hate when she does that.”
“Where is Jeongyeon going??” Dahyun exclaimed coming to check on them.
“Who knows, who cares- you don’t want her to be the face of this thing anyway. Momo and I can do this on our own."
"Can you? Because you have one signature on here and it’s Sana’s.”
“Really! Score!” Momo clapped happily. Dahyun pressed her palm to her forehead. Okay, maybe this wasn’t the best idea but it could be worse…While Dahyun ran them through what to do yet again Jeongyeon actually came back, a rolled up poster and tape in hand.
“What’s that? Jeongyeon?” She ignored the younger girl and began taping it to the front of their booth.
“Great, you’re back, I’m leaving- wait what the hell-”
The sign read in large, handwritten block letters:
SIGN UP TO AUDITION, KISS A CAPTAIN
“Get in line nerds! Listen to this chick talk about the musical, sign-up and choose your captain!!” Jeongyeon yelled, putting her hands on Dahyun’s shoulders and pointing. That caught people’s attention.
“Wait, I did not agree to this!” Nayeon protested. A crowd began to form as they actually realized what Jeongyeon had done.
“Me neither!!” Momo watched in horror as people actually started lining up. Quickly. Very quickly.
“Sorry, I’d help but Nayeon said you two could handle this on your own. Good luck!” and with that Jeongyeon disappeared yet again.
“Umm, I’m not forcing you to do anything you’re uncomfortable with…” Dahyun assured them. Jeongyeon was an ass but at least she was a smart ass.
Momo and Nayeon blinked at each other. There competitive sides winning out,
“Kisses on the cheek only.”
