Your mom and I have always said how eager you are to please people—— guess we both didn’t know just how much.

Tonight I learned kindness can go a little too far, maybe.

                      ....I was getting Bosszilla her morning coffee, and he saw me struggling trying to carry everything. He seemed so nice and sweet and not like he wanted me to do that to him. 

        —— Guess this isn't one of those cute 'finding love in a coffeeshop' stories, huh?

You see, Little Foot— that thing in your hand is what we call a strap on. Commonly used by lesbians and—— well now I guess straight white girls.

"Already in the freezer next to the ice cream." She could sense the poorly formed lie in the air, both women knowing full well who the nuggets were really for. A half quality chef could stick anything { excluding vegetables } in front of the child, and she’d munch down. The dinosaur nuggets were for Senora James, single mother of one who loved putting opposing reptiles into battle….. The loser facing death by drowning — in sauce — and decapitation. “For a two year old, the kid sure does go through the big ass bags fast.” 

A knowing smirk accompanied the remark as she tossed the final item in the fridge. A few steps brought her to their table, collapsing into one of the less than comfortable dinner chairs. “-And the bass player is hot as shit. You gotta check her out— see if she checks me out when I’m not looking.”

Moving over towards the freezer, the woman opened the freezer, cool air greeting her, to make sure the precious food item was where it should be. Closing the door, Riley turned back, finding herself in the same position she had been in before. Biting down on her lip softly, the young mother thought she had been caught up her lie — well, no thoughts about it. She knew, but continued to play dumb. "She's a growing girl, Brooke. She's gotta eat!" Feeling proud of her 'expertly' formed lie, her hand grabbed a few more chips and stuffed them into her mouth.

Settling into a chair next to her best friend, the woman relaxed against the table, elbows propped on the hard surface and body tension free. "And the true motives decide to come out," a playful smile itched its way onto the brunette's face.

"Though, it was the role I was born to play — Wing Woman! Caw caw!" With the last outburst, tiny wing's were formed by her petite hands.

As the women put away groceries, Brooke paused as she came upon a bag of chips— the obnoxious opening noise scratching out across the room. Laying the ruby red bag on the counter, she returned to the task at hand— but not before stealing a chip. 

Mouth filled with greasy goodness, she garbled out, “I’d say yeah, but don’t wanna give you the illusion of free will or whatever.” Returning to the groceries once more, she continued with, “Come on, it’s a new group I just landed. They’re wicked as shit.”

She took inventory of all the items her roommate had picked up, making sure the blonde hadn't forgotten anything Riley had specifically asked for. Creamer — check. Coffee — double check. But where was her...? Did Brooke forget? "Did you forget Leia's dinosaur chicken nuggets? You know that's all she'll eat for lunch."

Grabbing a few chips herself, Riley leaned up against the wooden kitchen counter, popping some of the morsels into her mouth as her comrade spoke. "Free will? Who would've thunk it?," a thousand watt smile plastered onto her face. "Don't worry. You know I like seeing your new bands. Getting to say I'd heard them before they were big is one of my favorite things."

She hadn’t known where the replying voice would come from, but the couch was among one of the last places. Brooke hadn’t even seen the girl when she’d passed the living room.

                                        — — Perhaps it was the groceries in hand. 

"Yeah, out— the spacious region where actual people roam. Christ, it’s a small gig, hundred people at most.”

The familiar haze that came with sleep began to fade from Riley's senses, and the world around her was able to be perceived once more. Realizing that Brooke had brought back groceries, the young mother slowly walked into the kitchen and began putting the groceries away. 

She realized there was no use in fighting her feisty roommate and began to play along with the plan at hand. "And there's no use fighting you on this, is there?"

The tiniest of smiles formed, lighting up her delicate features ever so slightly.

After kicking off worn down flip flops, Brooke padded into the kitchen- arms brimming with groceries. Without looking to see where her roommate was, the blonde called out,

"Find a sitter for your child— we’re going out."

Hearing her roommate's voice call out from above, Riley shot up from her spot on the couch, not remembering when she had fallen asleep. She was lucky, however, Leia was down for a nap. Propping herself up against the arm rest of the seat, the petite brunette looked around and found Brooke in the kitchen.

With the sleep still in her voice, she responded, "Out? Brooke, I don't know...."
