Luke Skywalker studied the intensity of Anakin’s ice blue eyes. He understood all too well that his nephew and Tahiri were tied together by more than their bond of friendship. They were true Jedi, and someday they would become powerful Jedi Knights. […] But, he worried that these two Jedi candidates were in the habit of rushing headlong into dangerous situations. What if they found themselves in one they weren’t ready for?
Junior Jedi Knights: Promises, by Nancy Richardson (via kriffing)
FEALTYBOUND:
her stare is unwavering, though it softens exponentially when the other begins to speak – genuinely speak. THIS WAS NOT A BURDEN FOR A CHILD, and while senya was perhaps too young when she was chosen to serve the eternal empire, to take space in the emperor’s court as one of his personal war hounds, it is their ideology that makes them different. THE JEDI HAVE BEEN FLAWED FOR LIFETIMES ! in the age of the old republic, and even long into future generations – they ingrained such backwards views of thought, of emotion, of belonging. heavy shoulders roll, her heart does indeed break tahiri, as it had once broken for her daughter / her sons / the life that she had wanted though it hadn’t been real.
the air feels thick with agony, body language alters, tailored to the moment as the former knight steps forward. valkorion had once painted her as weak for such blatant displays of empathy – her children had forsaken her for it. but it had been something she had been allowed beneath the pristine armor of the empire, and it had been something she’d been inclined to keep. a hand outstretches, fingers settling idle on the curve of her companion’s shoulder. grief is a powerful creature, it is relentless and all-consuming if one does not learn to process it, to understand it. ❛ you believe loss makes you unqualified, but they do not teach you that sometimes PEACE COMES ON THE BACK OF CONFLICT - and war takes. ❜
that idle brush turns into a loose grip, her form cranes slightly, eyes boring through her. these are the things that can stunt warriors, her own mentor had gone through such a similar conversation in a way ; war was an evil, designed to be felt on every level both physically and mentally. ❛ sometimes people cannot be saved - from death, from themselves. you should not be left to shoulder such a weight on your own, tahiri. ❜
SHE JOLTS AWAY FROM THE TOUCH AT FIRST, as if she’d been burned. she wasn’t worthy. she should never have been made a jedi knight. the only reason any of this had happened was because she had been reckless. she should have evacuated with the other children on yavin iv. if she had master ikrit would have never died and anakin never would have had to rescue her. maybe then she would have been strong enough to help them properly on myrkr. all she was now was scarred, pitied and alone. everyone treated her with kid gloves because of anakin --- because of what had happened to her. THEY KNEW SHE SUFFERED but they didn’t know what to do about it in the middle of a warzone.
there was more important things than the fact that she couldn’t deal with the grief that had consumed her and rendered her hollow and empty. her existence was insignificant when the fate of the universe was at hand. she did what she could, killed yuuzhan vong when told, used the ability to understand their language to help decipher what she could. she existed, she did not live. ❝ i should have died. not him. they should have taken me. anakin was meant for more than this. he was our future, our HOPE. what am i meant to do without him ? all they do is pity me and whisper. they don’t treat me like they used to because I’M NOT HER ANYMORE. the monsters made me part of them. ❞
all the words rush out of her as she finally relents and gives into the emotions she had desperately tried to push down and hide. all her fear ( unbecoming of a jedi --- it could easily lead her to the dark side in the time of war. jaina had slipped, she could too ) and sorrow that had held her back. shaky hands find senya’s shoulders and she holds onto her for dear life, face hidden in her neck as she begins to sob, months of self induced torment finally freeing itself.
❝ i don’t know what to do. ❞
canon post part 3: the remix
tahiri thinks in three different languages: galactic standard, yuuzhan vong and tusken raider. she has come to embrace this as she knows that all her different pasts make her stronger though it is not something she would really discuss with anyone other than tionne and luke skywalker due to general mistrust and dislike of both yuuzhan vong and tusken raiders. (the latter to a lesser degree obviously)
the fact that she thinks and embraces the yuuzhan vong part of her freaks out more than a few of her fellow jedi. the yuuzhan vong devastated the jedi order, so the fact that she is partially one of them is something that they don’t really trust.
there are a few jedi who survived that refuse to have anything to do with tahiri because they are worried she may be a sleeper agent of some sort.
tahiri doesn’t wear makeup, she doesn’t really understand it because of her past and the people she hangs around with (which are mostly men) that being said, she wouldn’t oppose being made up by someone she trusted just for something a little different.
tahiri is a very touchy person, she craves physical contact since she was starved of it from the ages of 3-9 years old. (not even touching on the yv torture) she’s very much a hugger but will adjust to whomever she’s spending time with’s personal preferences.
I’ve been broken. I was broken by the Yuuzhan Vong. I broke when Anakin died. And again when I learned that I could see him again, in little moments. Every time you break, outside forces can shape you, and you can’t do anything to stop them. No, I don’t think it matters when Jacen became a Sith. I think it matters when he broke.

canon post part 2: electric boogaloo.
tahiri fucking loves to learn, it’s why she loves her time with tionne so much because she truly loves listening to what she has to say and learning about the last and what it can mean for the future. where tahiri can, she always will make sure to find relics and bring them back to tionne or have them sent to her. especially jedi relics as tahiri believes they need to be protected and treasured.
one of the first things tahiri did after the end of the war was to catalog everything that happened to her into holodiaries and journals. it helped unpack everything that happened to her, though some of it was in third person as tahiri thinks of herself as a different person to before she and riina merged.
the fact that tahiri knows very little about her family other than the manner her parents died bugs her more than she would admit. she often wonders if she had any other family out there that she didn’t know about. she still is yet to find out about her grandfather who was a jedi before order 66, including his name.
tahiri actually enjoys c3po’s company and she’s usually the one to distract him if he’s getting on someones nerves. some think it’s because they talk as much as each other.
she visits kashyyyk every year and a half to visit anakin’s resting place (as that was where han interred his lightsaber), often on her birthday as that way he can’t forget it. however, she is unable to do this during her time with wraith squadron due to the fact that it’s a security risk.
she doesn’t admit it, but it hurts more than she would like to admit that anakin never appeared to her, especially in her weaker moments. while she does move on, a part of her did die when he did as they were soulmates.
a list of canon i’ll add onto at some point.
tahiri doesn’t really feel pain due to her torture from the yuuzhan vong, this is helpful but can also hinder her because she can often not really notice she’s injured until someone points it out or the blood loss gets to her.
when she was younger if she wasn’t with anakin or the solo twins (and tenel ka) at the temple she was with master tionne solusar. tahiri sees her as a motherly figure and as someone who is always willing to listen to her when she needed someone adult to talk to. it didn’t take long for tahiri to wear master solusar down and also be trained by her, though it was informal. tahiri thinks the world of her and would do anything she asked.
don’t touch tahiri on the back of her neck. you will most likely be punched in the face. the scarring there is sensitive but also brings back awful memories of her torture.
tahiri and han get along surprisingly well.
unlike most from tatooine, tahiri doesn’t actually mind sand that much. she actually misses dry weather more than she would admit.
tahiri doesn’t like cities that much, planets like coruscant and eirudu just make her extremely uncomfortable due to her partial yuuzhan vong nature. she will go there if she has to, but she feels much more comfortable (and can relax more) on less mechanised planets.
what if we were sparring and your shirt was clinging to your body with sweat and your eyes were really intense and that got me distracted enough for you to pin me to the ground and sit on top of me? and maybe you were breathing all heavy and gave me a smug little smirk while saying “i win” and then i went “are you sure?” and grabbed you by the collar to pull you in for a kiss? and perhaps once we separated i said “because i think i’m the real winner here.” with our foreheads still pressed together? i think that’d be kinda cool idk!

❝ actually i would classify you as a very sweaty mess. ❞ ANAKIN KNEW BETTER THAN TO TAKE ANY OF HER COMMENTS SERIOUSLY. on her face is her cheekiest grin, hair tied back as they sparred. it was good for her to do so, especially with her sight not being what it was. it had been discussed, her getting cybernetic implants as well as surgery to fix her scarring, but the other personality that lived inside her ( a parasite, gnawing at her insides ) SCREAMED at the idea. the lightsaber was bad enough in its eyes. maybe after the war she would reconsider it, if she ever could be cured of the affliction she now had.
there’s a twinkle in her eyes as her blade disappears and she clips the saber back on her belt. that was enough for now, they couldn’t push themselves too hard. they were at war, but they would be useless to the effort if either of them harmed themselves while training. especially since neither of them had a jedi master anymore since ikrit had died. THEY WERE ON THEIR OWN NOW. that scared her more than she would like to admit, but that was a conversation for another time. it takes her only a second to saunter towards him, wrapping her arms around his shoulders and beaming up at him. she had anakin still. that was all that mattered.
❝ you are very hot though, but i wouldn’t describe you as a mess, i’m the mess in this relationship thank you very much. ❞
@betraiyal said: ❝ family isn’t who you’re born with, it’s who you’d die for ❞ ask prompt.
❝ do you know i’ve known your family for longer than i knew my own. ❞ SHE OFTEN WONDERS WHAT IT MAY HAVE been like if master luke had found her parents before they had died. it’s not healthy to dwell upon the past, she knows that. IT LEADS TO THE DARK SIDE. she has spent a lot of time alone, trying to figure out exactly who she was. the ryn network had welcomed her as one of their own and she had travelled from planet to planet helping where she could and passing on information. it was welcome, something she may not have had the chance to do if she were there in her capacity as a jedi knight. it gave her a sense of purpose, something that had also been stripped of her when she had been stripped of her old self.
this was someone that she was still trying to figure out. years away had helped, of course they had but there was always going to be a part of her that craved being around the solos who had welcomed her as one of their own even though anakin had died. a family unit had been something that had been taken from her from the very beginning. THE JEDI HAD BEEN HER FAMILY. jacen had gone out of his way to make sure that she knew he still cared, even with anakin gone. it had helped more than he had realized. loss was harder to get over than many would be willing to admit. with anakin’s death she’d lost part of herself.
she’s curled up next to him, resting her head on his shoulder. a simple comfort that she had missed while she had been gone. it had been lonely out there. ❝ you’ve been my family for years. well before you left me that note. i’d die for all of you. always would have. you’re my brother, even though anakin is gone.❞ a pause, her voice lowering, this was a secret from the locked chambers of her heart.
❝ we would have been married if he hadn’t died, i think. he was the only person for me.❞
