THIS. MOTHERFREAKING THIS.
Excuse me as I causally anonymously mail this to all my relativesâ homes
Iâve said it before, Iâll say it again: Equating all Muslims with the Taliban or Al-Quaeda is like equating all Christians with the Westboro Baptist Church or those who bomb abortion clinics.
^ Ameen.
This needs more notes. All tumblr is about gay rights, And how racism against black people should be stopped. Please note, I fully respect that and support it. But please dont forget about all the innocent Muslims that are being killed all around the world just simply because they are Muslims.
Seems like an appropriate time to re-reblog this.
Photographs of immaculate, domestic interiors are common to us today, with countless images of private homes readily found in design magazines and on social media. The tradition of documenting personal rooms, however, was an exclusive one when it emerged in Europe at the start of the 19th century. Before the advent of photography, those who could afford to commissioned artists to paint small, highly detailed watercolors of the interiors of their homes that they would then slip, like photographs, into display albums. Such paintings offer a glimpse into the decadent lifestyles of the 19th centuryâs well-to-do and the art of recording finely decorated interior spaces. Currently, 47 such paintings are featured in House Proud, an exhibition at the Elizabeth Myers Mitchell Gallery at St. Johnâs College in Annapolis, Maryland.

From Doreen Garnerâs portfolio in BOMB:
âI identify, extract, and exploit the tissues that bind the sexual and the grotesque, specifically regarding the black female body. Treated as spectacle and disposable specimen, these women and their storiesâHenrietta Lacks, Saartjie Baartman, the victims of Dr. J. Marion Simsâare a driving force. Identifying the voyeur as the subject, an oppositional gaze is directed towards fetish, objectification, and racism.
âTake the power back, twist it, and sharpen it. Probe all cavities of the privileged viewer experience. With viscera and bling, a material mush is formulated of beads, Swarovski crystals, silicone, rubber, teeth, condoms, teddy bear stuffing, Vaseline, etc., held together by glass walls or latex membranes.âÂ
Black students at Harvardâs Graduate School of Design say there are no design courses that consider race and justice. Hereâs an outline for one.
