THEIR STORY
(tw: death)
Jefferson Thomas Sterling, but everyone calls him Jeff, is the oldest son of Jefferson and Catherine Sterling. Growing up in a family considered "old money," Jeff had a pretty cushy childhood with constant nannies and a private school education. His parents always made sure he had the best of everything, so he spent a lot of time at charity events and the country club. His mom, Catherine, made sure he knew how privileged he was, which kept him grounded.
With his grandfather and dad both being lawyers, it seemed like a no-brainer that he’d go into law, too. At first, Jeff wasn’t too thrilled about it, but once he found out he could specialize in environmental law, he got really interested. Finding a spot for practical experience wasn’t tough since his dad ran Sterling Law, the firm started by his grandfather.
When Jeff graduated and passed the bar, he jumped into working full-time at the firm. But life threw him a curveball when his dad tragically died in a car accident when Jeff was 29, and he suddenly became the owner of Sterling Law. Some of the older lawyers didn’t take too kindly to having a much younger boss, which led to some serious challenges. A few left, and others made it tough for Jeff to keep the firm running smoothly, causing the once-great reputation of Sterling Law to slip a bit.
Determined to restore the firm’s good name, Jeff reached out to an old friend for help, and they’re currently in the process of rebuilding. Despite the chaos, Jeff is pretty happy with where he is in life. Sure, it would be nice to come home to more than just his two cats now and then, but being a bit of a workaholic definitely gets in the way of his dating life. Overall, he’s just focused on making things work and seeing where this journey takes him.
