This has been bothering me for YEARS!
I have kept the following hidden for 6 years, and this is my first time EVER mentioning about it to public eyes.
I used to email Vic Mignogna a lot, starting in late 2006. That was after I found his email address here ([email protected]).
But I actually thought of him as someone I could call my friend. I was so happy when I got to meet him for the first time at an Anime convention near me. When I told him I was the same name that I had for my email address, HE REMEMBERED! And when I told him my real name, he gave me a hug! I even got an autograph from him on a picture I hand-picked of him! I even got a picture with him (but I lost the camera).
I even made two gifts for him, once for the first time I saw him in person, and one for the second time I met him. I even met his girlfriend at the time Michele Specht, in which I made a gift for her too. I asked Vic the second time I met him at an Anime Convention if he remembered me, and he said he remembered my face. I was so happy. I even asked if I could give him a kiss, and he let me and I kissed his cheek! I even got a picture of him and Michele.
From the emails to the times I met Vic in person, I thought he was the type of person that I thought and could ever wish for someone to be. In an email, I even told him of something personal that I was going through and although his answer was short, his answer showed that he really cares. And I remember in another email a while after that one I asked him if he remember that same email I wrote to him, and he said he remembered it well. I was surprised.
I was even a member of his Risembool Ranger fan club, in which I was active in a lot. I even joined the Rangers Bible Study there. I even had my mom to buy the book I needed for there. I was happy being a part of Vic's fan club, being a fan of him, admiring him and thinking of him as my friend.
But something happened to me that changed how I felt about him, for the worst.
It was the last time I joined the Rangers Bible Study...
Here is what I said in regards to the last Rangers Bible Study that I ever went to:Me: "I think I have this right.... but the question was brought up in today's Rangers Bible Study chat questionaire of what happens when one passes away....You said that according to the bible, when one dies, they appear before Him to determine where they go next.... If He finds that they accepted Jesus then they go straight through the gates of Heaven but if they did not accept Him then they go to hell.... Yet it is like you do not go to hell just for you having a different belief that is not at all bad.... like the Chinese.... or people with no religion at all.... Then it was mentioned about it is what you do with God's gift in your life that determines where you will go.SO.... my concept of that is this: I guess accepting Christ means, just being an all around good person; and you have lived you life the best way that you could.... even with those with different beliefs that aren't at all bad.... you did not take your life for granted. And by God's gift is life.... He gave us life.... and abusing that life that He gave you is when you steal and/or you murder a person or people with no remorse whatsoever.... just cold blooded. Those who have done all of that, THEY are the ones that should go to hell and never see light again.Anyways I think I got it....right?"
I really thought I was going to be correct, and I thought he felt the same way I did.
BUT HERE I FOUND OUT OTHERWISE.
HERE is the SHOCKING, and (should I say it) HEART-WRENCHING response that I received from Vic:Vic: "hi there,Thanks for your question. Here is the answer...No, I'm afraid you're not correct on that. The Bible makes it very clear that all men are sinners, seperated from God by their sin. It also makes clear that there is nothing we can do... no amount of good deeds we can perform, to make us clean before God. We are completely incapable of living a perfect life on our own, and therefore a wall of sin keeps us from being able to be with God. God knew we could not save ourselves, so He sacrificed His only son Jesus to pay the price for you and me on the cross. "Accepting Jesus" means confessing that you are a sinner, and asking God to apply the sacrifice of Jesus to you. You invite Jesus into your heart and from that point on, you live a life that reflects God. Once you do that, you a child of God and will have eternal life in heaven.Just being a "good person" or "doing your best" is not good enough. We will always fall short. The Bible states very clearly that we cannot work our way to heaven. There is no giant scale in the sky that weighs our good deeds and bad deeds. IT is very simply this.... no matter how many bad deeds are on one side of the scale- if Jesus is on the other, you are clean before God.This is not about "religions". Jesus said in John 14:6 "I am the Way, the Truth and the Life. No one comes to God except through me."Good or bad things you've done, american or chinese, rich or poor.... none of that matters.What you do with Jesus and His sacrifice for you is all that does.I hope that makes sense... thanks :)vic"
SO! In other words, he is saying that being an all-around good person and doing your best is not good enough to get into Heaven. And! He is saying that HIM being kind to his FANS is worth NOTHING!
And after that email, the more I thought about it, the more I felt his response to me was wrong. But when I mentioned it to my mom, my decision was made clear. And after that, not only did I remove myself from the Risembool Ranger fan club, but I stopped emailing him and deleted EVERY email he EVER wrote to me.
So there are a couple of things that I learned from this experience:
Is that I have gotten too close to him and thought too highly of him as a person.
Is that the rumor of Vic "shoving religion down people's throats" is true (look in the email sent by him BY HIS EMAILS [email protected]). And also, maybe you should look into him being homophobic thing more closely. For example, someone anonymously wrote their experiences in the comments section, and this person is a female-to-male transgender. Please read it.
So this is a true story of what happened to me 6 years ago, and I hope no one gets TOO MAD at me for this post...
