Hello everyone in the ttrpg community and industry!

My name is Jellyfishlines or Irving if you’re a friend of mine in the tabletop sphere. I’m a queer and disabled TTRPG streamer, player and I’m currently working towards designing ttrpgs. I’ve played many games over the years and have been working towards building an audience when Twitter was bought out. I’m in too deep to give up now and I’m planning on going strong. Tbh, I'm significantly less concerned with people casually using the word crazy to mean busy or overwhelming or something than I am with people adopting clinical psychiatric language in an attempt to appropriate the pathologizing function of psychiatry for themselves (as in the case of people using "narcissist" to essentially mean "evil person" and diagnosing everyone in their life as a narcissist).

antipsych post breaking containment maybe one of the most annoying experiences on here because you leave your circle by more than a couple degrees and suddenly a very very basic statement to the effect of "imprisoning and torturing suicidal people at their own cost is not actually a form of care" will get one million blogs called the-fucking-scrungular-bungus reblog commenting your post like "umm. crazy person says what? xD #you people need to go outside and touch grass #if you think all mental illness should be approached by "respecting others' autonomy" you are PRIVILEGED #tell me you never had to call the cops on a homeless person without telling me #and before you come for me i literally have clinical depression. so #queue know you want it #ash don't look"

The concept that married people live longer is interesting. I'm sure there is some merit to the idea that if you're married there is someone there to nag you about going to the doctor, but I think much larger factors are having the finances of dual incomes and access to an immediate support person.

Surgeries require having a designated person to look after you. Many injuries require driving to somewhere like an emergency room which can be hard to do if you are the one injured. If you're home with the flu, it's hard to tell when it's bad enough to go to the hospital without another person checking on you. And if you pass out it requires another person to find you like that to get medical aid.

You can prop it up as the benefits of marriage, but I think there's a much deeper discussion to be had about how we've built society around marriage as an inevitable conclusion and neglected to build support systems that function outside of romantic pairings.

I get the importance of the transfem community warnings but sometimes I see shit like girls talking other girls out of trying to get their teaching certificates because of the potential for harassment from conservative parents and idk that's very real but also at a certain point we are just doing preemptive hiring discrimination to ourselves

Like on the one hand it is very real that societal transphobia would like to see us all unemployed, forced to do survival sex work. But also that's not the only reality available to us at this point! And sometimes I worry that we are self policing in a way by flooding so many trans girls with this message of "your only options are to get super good at onlyfans or be Raytheon's strongest coder" when like, so many of the women I know are teachers, home care workers, nannies, day care workers, postal workers. Not glamorous, but like, idk the world of lower middle class pink collar jobs is available to us more or less at this point. Other girls have office jobs, some girls have to work food service and retail. But we get to exist in some form besides either NEETs or internet famous porn girls. And obvi hiring discrimination is real, and obvi disability issues come into play for a lot of us that makes a lot of the work I just mentioned inaccessible. I'm not saying things are sweet out there. But there is a world out there where you can live. Maybe not in the exact way you want, maybe not super easily, but you can live.
