Grey continued running after the petite brunette, finally both reaching the apartment building. "Jennifer, please stop.." the male pleaded as they began to head up the stairs, his focus suddenly being pulled away from Jennifer and to their apartments. "What the hell? .." he questioned eyeing as the doors were broken in.
Jennifer stopped, her body freezing in place, "no, no, no, no" she cried, rushing into her apartment to see everything in tatters on the floor, the photos of her mother scattered in the rug, her cups smashed, couches sliced, there was nothing intact. "What did I do?" she cried, Bailey running scared into her arms as she held her close. Sinking to the floor in a puddle, tears slipping down her face before she realised –– his looked the same. Moving to her door, she gasped. "I–I am so, so so sorry," she whimpered, seeing the destructing laden in his apartment; oblivious to James in her room.
Grey looked around with a pained expression. All his belongings destroyed, clothing and all with rips, picture frames that were evidently thrown against a wall, curtains torn and his room, a complete mess. Clenching his jaw, his eyes landed on his adoption day papers now torn to shreds on his wooden floor. "Fuck.." he muttered under his breath before walking over to Jennifer and bringing her into an embrace. "Shhh"
Jennifer shook her head, her eyes only springing more tears. "I-I am so so sorry," she whispered into his chest. "I... I tried to leave him," she croaked, not being able to take in the mess. Their lives had been destroyed, their belongings, their loved items, all torn to pieces and scattered. "I–I can't believe he did it to you too," she whispered, flinching as Bailey growled at her door, her ears catching the sound of falling items. The cogs turned and suddenly, she heard feet. Handing Bailey to Grey, she moved back to her door, stepping inside to see her bedroom door blown open and James inside. "What the fuck did you do?" She screamed, running to push him; anger flooding her. "What's your fucking problem, James?"

Grey 's eyes suddenly went wide as she handed him the dog, getting up and shoving James before he could process anything. Setting the dog couch, he found himself walking over to her bedroom where now the three of them stood. "Jen, stop, okay, that's not going to help." he called out, trying to get a hold of the girl.
Jennifer wasn't mad because he'd ruined her space, her things; everything she owned. She was mad because he'd gone to far –– to hurt another person and their personal things. It wasn't fair; he wasn't fair. "No, it's not fair, he's can't just do this anymore!" Her voice a low growl as her fists hit his chest, even with a strong punch, James seemed slightly harder, only wincing slightly. "I hate you," She uttered, hitting him harder. Her hues not showing any fear as he looped her wrists and squeezed. "Such a stupid fucking girl, who do you think you are to leave me, who do you think you are other than one massive waste of breath?" He hissed down at her.

Grey 's arm wrapped around her waist, trying to pull her away from Jame's sight but struggled with her movements. Seeing James reaction, Grey grew angry, putting the girl behind his back before giving James a good shove, making him trip slightly over his feet. "You fucking watch how you talk to her!" he growled at him, his eyes now dark with rage. "You want to hit someone because your fucking pride and ego are hurt? Take a swing! Go!"
Jennifer was terrified of James; merely because she knew what he was capable of and the lack of remorse he had, nothing ever fazed him and guilt wasn't in his vocabulary. Fidgeting slightly as Grey moved her, she shook her head, "Grey, don't do this," she begged, the last she wanted was for Grey to get hurt because of her; even if he was taller and probably stronger than James. But she winced as James hand swung at Grey's face. "Who the fuck are you? This is between me and Jen, nothing to do with you - fucking idiot. Move out my way," James growled, shoving him back.
Grey felt the sting from Jame's blow, cutting his lip slightly. Tasting the blood in his mouth, Grey allowed for himself to be shoved just before swinging back. "It does have to do with me! I'm fucking tired of you putting your disgusting hands on her, you piece of shit! You're not a man, you're a god damn coward. You want a punching bag?! I'm right here!" he called out, an arm holding Jennifer to his back. Now he was truly, immensely pissed off.
Jennifer 's hand grabbed Greys arm, the tears springing in her eyes, "James, stop it." She yelled, at least it was normal for her, at least no on else got hurt, but now; Jen had never been so scared of seeing someone else get hurt. "Oh do fuck off –– You don't know pretty little Jennifer like I do, you think you're some macho man protecting her you asshole? I suggest you leave, right fucking now. Before you make it worse for yourself." His tone growing with his anger, his fists connecting with Grey's upper body, before landing another shot at his face. James was a man who couldn't be contained when angered.
Grey pushed Jennifer out of the way as he saw James throwing more fist. He really didn't want her to get hurt, hopefully a shove to the side would be better than knocking his entire body into her. Feeling the blows once more, he let his head hang to catch his breath. Getting back up, he shoved him once more this time knocking him down. His rage was off the walls, being a completely different person. "That's all you've got? Seriously you fucking joke?" Grey chuckled. At that given moment, he wasn't Grey the next door neighbor. It was Grey, the abandoned foster kid fighting to stay alive, fighting to keep those around him safe, tired of the abuse and bullies.
Jennifer let out a scream of a cry from her lips, her hand gripping her lips as she plagued what to do. Did she ring the police, get in between them? "James, stop it. Stop, please," she begged, hoping there was some form of decent being in him. Her arms curling around her body as Grey leant down over James. "Oh you wanna see what I've got," James laughed as he rocked back onto his feet and using his body weight to shove Grey into the wall, his fists red from the previous punches he'd thrown, his fist contacting Grey's stomach several times before it all went askew. Something in James snapped and he unleashed what seemed like 20 years worth of pent anger in violence. Jen cried, grabbing at James' shoulders. "James, stop hurting him!"
Grey didn't think James would get back up so quickly. Feeling his body slam against a wall, his head bounced back giving him a wave of pain. Feeling the punches to his stomach, things began to crack, causing him to cough up blood. His eyes suddenly found Jennifer's, looking up at her with sadness and concern. He wouldn't give up just yet. "Jen, move, now!" Grey shouted, in fear that he would hurt her. Swinging his head back, he head butted the other male, finally being able to set himself free.
Jennifer heard it, the cracks and the blood that scattered his face. She'd never felt fear like that, worry. Why did she have to involve other people in her problems, why did she have to hurt people. But she didn't listen to Grey's words, she knew how violent he could get. "James, he's not the one you want, leave him alone!" she screamed, hanging onto his arm till he looked at her; only to be pushed onto the covers of her bed. "Fucking asshole," James hissed, taking only a few second to hit Grey again, it was the con Jen had found in him, his energy levels usually rocketed from boxing; it was like fighting a wall with James. "She's my fucking girl. Get. The. Fuck. Out." James hollered in between punches and his knee hitting his stomach.
Grey was now turning into a pulp, feeling where bruises would come in later on if he could survive this. "You're a scum, you're aren't a man.. You're just some fucking joke." Grey said lowly with the bit of energy he had. "She's not your girl, she's the love of my life so tough luck, dick." he spat, swinging at him again.
Jennifer 's breath caught at his words, he loved her? That was something the brunette had never really felt before –– what it was like to be loved. Grabbing her phone, she called 911, "hello, I need someone to come asap, my boyfriend seems to have lost it and has turned violent," she whispered, reeling off the address and holding her phone so she could hear James speak. "You fucking asshole, I'm gonna kill you. Beat you till no one can fucking recognise you," James harrowed after Grey's fist hit his jaw, sending a crack, his fist contacting Greys face repeatedly before turning to kick him. Jen let out a low cry, the tears falling down her cheeks as she pulled his blazer. "James!" she shouted, pulling him from Grey with what little strength she had, "You need to stop." She cried, slowly tugging him closer with the blazer that sat on his shoulders.
Grey couldn't last much longer. Sure he worked out and looked big, but fighting was not his forte, just when he was a child. Breathing heavily, he heard as she made the call, watching the anger in his eyes. "Jen-bathroom.." Grey called out, warning the girl to go and hide, he knew how badly things would turn when the cops arrived and didn't want her to fear or get hurt. "Go.." he whispered, feeling another blow, now shutting his eyes.
Jennifer couldn't breath, she'd been sobbing so hard, her hand over her chest as she looked at him. "No, no Grey," she whimpered, grabbing James with some force; a sudden adrenaline rush and shoving him. "Fucking asshole," she hissed, watching him fall and land with his head clocking the table and letting out a his, her fingers wrapping around the broken leg of her hair and holding it to his face. "I swear to fucking god James," she sobbed, arms shaking as she glared at him. "Leave him the fuck alone," she cried hitting him in the chest and crying. James' hands grabbing her arms and tightening his grip, his hand meeting her throat. "I fucking dare you," she whispered, praying for the cops to arrive, for anyone to stop him.
Grey laid against the wall, pretty sure he had a few broken bones here and there, and definitely a swollen face. Trying to hold his head up, he gave himself a push seeing as Jennifer was now in his grasp, suddenly giving him a burst of energy. "Don't you fucking dare." he called out, colliding his body with James, making sure to tackle him down with the bit of strength he had.
Jennifer didn't know what to do, how could she help Grey? "Grey, don't! I can't have you getting hurt anymore. I love you and I'm pretty sure I need you," she sighed, her fingers brushing over his back as she watched the two boys roll on the floor in a tackle, her breath caught in her throat as she rushed to the door, noticing the blue of a police officer. "He's the one in the blue plaid suit, please! He'll kill us," she whimpered, her arms wrapping around Bailey as she rushed back to the room, praying and hoping Grey was alive, was okay. She'd never forgive herself otherwis.e
Grey could finally hear the sirens.... And Jennifer's given words. He suddenly stopped at her request, letting James have the last hit as the cops came barging in. Finally, he could breath for a second, his body laying on the floor. With his arms up following police orders, he could feel his body being lifted up, his eyes quickly trying to find Jennifers. "Jen?" he called out desperately.
Jennifer ran, placing Bailey down she ran to sit by Grey, her hand grabbing his, "I'm so sorry," she whimpered, her lips meeting his. "Officers, he didn't do anything, it was in self defence or James would've killed me." she admitted with a tearful sigh. Watching James being dragged up and hand cuffed. "I'll fucking kill you! The pair of you are dead, you think this is the end of it? Better watch your fucking backs." James screamed as he was carried away, her arms wrapping delicately around Greys physique. "I'm so sorry –– I love you," she blurted, tears still streaming down her face.
Grey sighed, his hand grabbing hers. "He didn't hurt you did he?" he asked with concern, trying to see if he could feel her body for any cuts or bruises.
Jennifer shook her head, even if he'd caused her a slight sting it was nothing compared to what he had gone through for her, "Me? No," she whispered. "I can't believe his did this," she whispered, her fingers trailing over the expanses of his face and capturing his cheek, still as handsome as ever; even bruised and bloody. "I'm sorry, Grey," she whispered, darkened and sad hues meeting his own.
Grey gave the girl a small smile as best as he could. "Relax, I'll be fine. Just a few scratches." he chuckled, knowing it was more severe than that. "My words still stand though, I do love you.." he whispered to her, caressing her cheek.
Jennifer shook her head slightly, "You're fucking crazy," she laughed lightly, her hand squeezing his as she glanced over his injuries, watching as a paramedic came in with her kit to attend to his injuries. "I love you too, it just... took me a while to see," she hummed delicately, her lips curling into a half smile as the salty streams dried on her cheks.
Grey chuckled before coughing, slight pain in his side. "that's what they tell me." he joked, still trying to be humorous throughout their struggles.
Jennifer held his hand and moved him to sit on the bed, sitting next to him with a half smile painted on her lips. "Thank you –– for being my knight in shining suit," she jested with a smile, her lips meeting his for a fleeting moment before the paramedic checked for wounds.
Grey could feel the paramedics already trying to help him out, but his hand never left hers. "No problem, love.." he whispered to her, quickly returning the kiss.
Jennifer sat to the side, trying to keep him close without getting in her way, her fingers intertwining with his as her thumb rubbed the back of his hand. "Im sorry he hurt you, he ruined your things–– it's all my fault," she whispered, watching Bailey run in the door and jump on her bed, licking Grey and letting out small barks. "she loves you," Jen added
Grey groaned as the paramedics looked him over, taking notes and whispering to one another. Looking over at the dog, he chuckled softly. "And I love her." he replied, his free hand coming down to pet the furry friend.
Jennifer sat there in silence for a moment, looking over his bloodied features and injured limbs, her heart dropping at it all. She'd done this to him. None of this would've happened if that apartment stayed vacant, if she hadn't liked him. Her stomach swirled for a moment and she let out a low sigh; a worried one. One thought still in her mind; Vivian. Grabbing her phone, she sent a text to her father about a favour and his lawyer, worry creasing her. Her lips meeting his cheek, "You're one of a kind,"
Grey smiled over at the girl before hiding his face in the crook of her neck, the pain he was feeling being unbearable, of course he didn't want her to see that. "Alright, Mr.Cortez we're going to have to bring you over to the local hospital, we all pretty much agree there's a couple damages that have to be x-rayed and taken care of." said a paramedic, watching the both of them as they sat quietly together.
Jennifer used her free hand to run her fingers through his hair, her head settling on his. Sitting there for a moment and enjoying the peace that surrounded them. "It's okay, I'll come with you. Betty will have Bailey and I'll stay by your side," she told him with a kiss, a reassuring smile on her lips as she rose to her feet, her arm wrapping around him in case he needed support
