Seanan McGuire broke my heart at least ten times in the 4hrs it took to read Lost in the Moment and Found, and at least a dozen more in the half hour since. This isn’t my doorway, this isn’t my child, why does it hurt so much? The stand-alones in this series are all beautifully, heart breakingly, amazing. First finished book of the year: Raven Tower by Anne Leckie (reread). A fantasy retelling of Hamlet where the Hamlet-ness of it all is largely set dressing. Told mostly in second person, or rather first person but that person is narrating the story to one of the characters, so it reads as mostly second person. I don’t like the ending.
