Vouching.
When I think of vouching, I think back to the times where I had to fight for something or someone that I really wanted. But, I’ve only experienced someone vouching for me once. That process was never told on why and how that person vouched for me. I just thought vouching was necessary just to be a part of a certain group. In this case, it is true. My sorority big sister wanted me enough to vouch for me to show that I deserved to be in my sorority. But, I never thought that the word “vouching” would ever come back after I graduated from college and away from the whole sorority thing.
I was so shocked to hear one of the Physician Assistant that I worked with say that he was willing to “vouch” for me to get into a PA program. He saw through me, praised my work ethics and said that I would be a good fit for the program. I was ecstatic to hear such positive feedback considering that I changed my mind on what I wanted to become while working at the clinic that I am at now. However, I am so behind and so afraid that this “vouch” of mine can be gone in a blink of an eye. I am pressured to finish my pre-reqs for this program and can’t help but think if I am making the right choice at this time. Do I really want to become a PA? Or do I want to stick with nursing and become a Nurse Practitioner instead?
After graduating, I was deathly afraid that I would not be able to decide what I want to do. I knew I wanted to be in the medical field and I knew I wanted to become a nurse. I was almost certain that I was going to apply for Nursing School but I was opened to other options. After finding my job, I realized that nursing was not for me. I shifted gears and looked into PA programs but I had a long list of pre-reqs that I have yet to fulfill. I’ve gained a lot of clinical skills but I am stuck here. I’m really hoping I get accepted into the Post Bachelors program so I can finally move forward. Time is ticking.
