@jensenbarnes: @lucyfinch I have never been more proud to call you a best friend as the time I saw you as a zombie.
Day one, I stumbled through hello on 5th avenue | Jensen & Bee
Bee pushed her glasses further up her nose, unable to help but feel foolish that she had gotten so spooked. Crowds had just never been her thing, especially when they were of the squealing teenage girl variety. As she watched the gaggling group make their exit, she couldn’t help but let out a sigh of relief, and then proceeded to feel guilty for doing so.
It shouldn’t be her that was so grateful to see the back of the girls. The look of alarm on her new companion’s face hadn’t gone amiss to her and it looked like, although the girls recognised him and therefore made her think that he had a status of some sorts, he really was out of his depth with them, although he had recovered rather well.
He looked apologetic and she quickly wanted to dissuade any worries he had about making her uncomfortable. If anything, she should be the one attempting to console him as the girls had all but attacked him. She wondered if this was what her brother and sister felt like when they suddenly found the paparazzi on top of them.
"Oh!" Bee said in interest when he told her about his style of music. She was almost glad that his music wasn’t one of those popular radio tunes the people in her classes talked about, at least she could somewhat justify her ignorance then. However, she had never said no to listening to that kind of music before and wondered if perhaps Leo, who was definitely big on the music scene given his company, had ever heard of a Jensen Barnes.
"That’s really interesting," she said, no falseness at all to her words. It was rare for Bee to instigate a conversation with a stranger, but she did find herself genuinely intrigued by the man and he didn’t seem too intimidating either. His fans sure were, but he had been nothing but nice to her ever since she had collided into him.
As soon as he asked for her name though, she flushed a deep red and immediately looked down, tucking her books under her chin and allowing her hair to fall over her face. She seemed to always have this reaction—or something akin to it—nowadays when people prompted her to introduce herself. Perhaps it was because the words that spilled from her mouth were a lie.
"Bee Dickens," she finally said, looking up at the man and giving him a small smile once she was sure that Beatrice Randall wouldn’t try and infiltrate herself into the conversation, even though Beatrice was just as meek and mild as Bee was.
Jensen let himself fall slightly more comfortable as he noticed that Bee had began to relax. He should have been used to teh crowds by now, especially if he had relocated from Los Angeles himself. It seemed silly for him to fall uncomfortable with bombarded in the way he was, but it never seemed to creep up to him every time.
He was just thankful he was nowhere near the level of all the 'big time' celebrities. In fact, he would hardly even begin to call himself a celeb. He was just a regular guy, doing what he loved. It was cool that people could love it along with him, though. That was one aspect he truly loved. But at the end of the day, he wasn't the type go out clubbing every weekend or go to all the biggest, latest events. He was honestly just happy to sit back at home, have a few friends over or vice versa. He hardly lived a celebrity lifestyle.
Jensen couldn't help but slightly tilt his head to the side, followed by a smile as he saw the small blush flush across Bee's face. He found it adorable, actually. Granted, if he asked his so called fans the same question, they usually gave the same reaction but this time felt different. He didn't feel pressured to have to ask them, he truly wanted to know her name.
Jensen would have shook her hand or something but her hands were already full and he didn't want to wreck more havoc on the woman's books since they had already taken a number not too long ago.
"Pleasure to meet you, Bee." He spoke calmly, letting any last bit of edge from the group of girls finally leave with each step they took farther away from the two, even though they were already out of sight, mixed in with the rest of the bodies exploring New York streets.
He didn't want to be the type that lingers around like the lost puppy that followed you around every street corner, Jensen would leave the woman if she wanted to be alone. He wouldn't blame her, especially after what had happened while she was in the presence of him. There was nothing more uncomfortable than a stranger following you around just because you made the choice of saying hello.
"Well, uh," he glanced around the streets briefly before redirecting his gaze back to Bee. "If you wanted help carrying those books and heading this way..." He trailed, "if not, it was lovely meeting you, Bee." He smiled, nodding towards the small red head.
Day one, I stumbled through hello on 5th avenue | Jensen & Bee
Out of all the bizarre happenstances that Bee had experienced lately, this one was giving the previous ones a run for their money. Her forehead creased in complete confusion as she took the picture, wondering what on earth she had just stumbled into. Her siblings had often had their own pictures taken in the middle of the street, but that was by paparazzi when they fell out of a club in the early hours of the morning. They didn’t necessarily have fans, only people who noticed them from when they were splashed on the cover of Us Weekly. This seemed to be a different scale altogether.
She caught the mouthed words that the man—Jensen, had the girls said his name was?—gave her and just gave him a small smile in return, not sure what an appropriate response in this kind of situation would be anyway. As the girls immediately began crowding her to see if the photo was acceptable or not, she quickly backed away, hoping that would be the last of her photographer duties.
Luckily, they seemed satisfied with hit but continued to hover nearby as if waiting for a marriage proposal from the man who was now apologising to Bee. Keeping a wary eye on the giggling group of girls, Bee returned most of her attention to the dark haired man and just let out a nervous little laugh. She wasn’t even going to pretend to understand what had just happened.
"It’s okay…" she reassured him, holding her books closer to her chest and feeling uncomfortable when the group of girls began side-eyeing her and whispering to each other. She frowned and looked back at the other man who was now explaining why he had somehow managed to catch their attention and her eyes widened a little behind her glasses when he explained that he was a singer.
"A musician?" she echoed. She’d never been all that big on the music scene, preferring to listen to movie scores instead of more current songs. She didn’t know what kind of musician this Jensen was but, given the apparent age of his fan base, he seemed to have a following from young people at the very least. She tucked a lock of brown hair behind her ear and gave him another smile.
"Really, it’s alright. It just caught me off guard is all," she explained, shaking her head at herself. She had honestly never been a person who had scared easily. While timid, she rarely jumped when her older brother had decided to pull a prank on her and she barely flinched at horror movies. It was easy for her to stand her ground but lately she had been on tenterhooks what with everything that had happened with her father. She was a lot more on edge and the screaming girls had certainly caught her off guard.
"Seems like you have fans here," she pointed out, giving a small and subtle nod in the direction of the girls who were now realising they probably weren’t getting anything else from the man.
"Jensen Barnes they said your name was?" she asked, hoping he wouldn’t take offence at her not knowing who he was.
Jensen automatically assumed Lucy was wrong, evidently the Sex and the City tour bus wasn't pace he would get stopped at but he almost wished she wasn't wrong. He could tell that the woman was uncomfortable and he hated that it was at his fault. He didn't know her at all but he held the sense of respect to hate that he was why she was in that funk. Maybe it would have been best if he let her go on her merry way and forget what happened.
"Yeah," he nervously laugh, but he could mask it well enough to not make the group of girls feel like they liked a dick of a musician. He wasn't trying to be a dick towards them but more trying to hold respect for both them and the woman. Luckily they all seemed happy enough to have just gotten a picture from Jensen and started to scurry off in their own direction. "Nice to meet you ladies." He called off soflty before they walked away, hearing giggles come from them as they drifted off. Jensen closed his eyes and softly laughed.
Eventually when they girls were out of hearing distance, he turned his attention back to the woman and nodded his head yes. He was relieved they were leaving, hoping it would let her relax back to how she was. He wasn't blind and could notice how she tensed up as they were in their presence.
Her not really knowing who he was gave Jensen a sort of thrill. It was like a blank page and he could set his own first impression on her rather than assuming what he was supposed to be like, just like how the girls just had for him. But, he imagined his first impression probably wasn't the greatest as the first time meeting her, she was bombarded to take pictures of other people with him.
"I kind of do the more acoustic sound." He began, explaining why she may not know of him. "It's not exactly something you hear on today's radio or anywhere, really." He didn't know if she was a music person or not, but either way, it was refreshing. Most of the time, or how Jensen imagined it, the only way you knew of his music is if you were looking for it. But Jensen also knew nothing from the other side of music, all he knew was that he made music, that's it. He didn't live in the glamorous life style, didn't go out partying every night or do drugs like how numerous musicians did. He stayed out of the light and that's how he liked it.
"Don't suppose I could get your name?" He asked carefully, hoping he hadn't frightened her, or more so the girls frightening her.
The mood it changes like the wind, hard to control when it begins | Jensen & Lucy
"Ohhh, you know I’d kick you out on the streets. I’m not a softie,” Lucy nodded. While she and Jensen got along swimmingly, they both needed their creative spaces and she figured that him practising his music while she was rehearsing a dramatic death scene would be off putting for the two of them. It was why they had never been able to be in each other’s company 24/7, not because they began to get on each other’s nerves, but because they would surely have noise complaints from their neighbours if they actually lived together.
"I don’t think I’d cry at Julian’s funeral," she commented, feigning contemplation. Everyone knew how much both Jude and Jensen meant to her, but unfortunately for their mutual friend, he had two Los Angeles locals on either side of him more often than not. As much as she teased her fellow Aussie, she often wondered just how he put up with the two of them, although Jensen was a much calmer and sensible version of herself.
She continued to blush a bright red colour when Jensen teased her about Jasper. Honestly, she was having a lot of trouble switching between all these ‘J’ names. Someone was going to have to let up and get a different initial.
"I just… guh,” she groaned, burying her head in her hands. She had never acted like this before about anyone until Jasper and his stupid cute face had came along and ruined everything. She noticed the shift in Jensen’s tone and gave him a thankful smile. She’d never really had any female friends to talk with, only males like Julian and Jude and now Andrew. She was glad that she could still have a typical ‘girl’ talk with one of them, gender aside.
"I normally only ever see him when I’m doing the whole soldier rehearsal thing," she told him, wondering if she should admit that sometimes she just called up the man with a pointless and empty question just so she could have a conversation with him or meet up with him, but thinking about that made her realise how pathetic it would sound if she actually came right out with it.
Lucy had never really thought of herself as being drop dead gorgeous. She liked the way she looked but had never ever thought of herself as being the kind of person that guys threw themselves at, which was why she hadn’t yet entertained the idea of Jasper maybe liking her back. On top of her average-yet-she-was-mostly-happy-with-them looks, she knew her personality left a lot to be desired. She was often grumpy and cranky, especially under stress and when she wasn’t, while she could be happy and upbeat, she had a sharp tongue on her. She rarely used it unkindly, but it was there.
"Ugh, I dunno, Jensen…" she trailed off unsurely, wrinkling her nose.
She was grateful for the distraction when he claimed that she would never get him on the Sex and the City tour bus and playfully slapped his arm.
"Oh my God, don’t be so insecure about your masculinity. Girls will come flocking to you if they see you on that!" she teased him.
"Oh, well in that case, I can fly myself back to L.A. in no time." Jensen straightened himself up on the couch, pointing with his thumb back to the door he entered in through just moments ago. Evident he was only teasing, though. He was firmly here to stay in New York, ready to make this his new home... but whether it was temporary for a few years or permanent would only be able to be told with time.
"Riiiiiight." He teased, knowing Lucy would be an absolute wreck without Julian. "You know, with you not being a total softie 'n all." Sarcasm was evident in his voice, he could get a few things that would prove that Lucy could be if she wanted to but she was fantastic at putting up the act to cover it within seconds. He knew it went hand in in hand with her being an ctress 'n all. Lucy definitely had that one up on him. "It's because we all know you're savin' up those tears for mine. I know how hard it'll be on you when I'm gone." He poked his elbow at his favorite blonde, letting a glimmer of playfulness bounce in his eyes.
"Well, if he knows the same Lucy that I do," he began, letting the playful glimmer dim as he let himself stay serious on the subject of Jasper, "it won't take long before he's asking you to do stuff outside of just the whole solider ordeal." Which he meant in all honesty. Be friending Lucy was one of the smartest things Jensen could give himself credit for. He couldn't try and remember his life much before she was in it.
"Just, trust me on this, alright?" He felt confident in what he was preaching, especially if Jasper seemed to be this good guy that she had been explaining. He would be brainless to try and look past Lucy. If it was up to Jensen, any guy would be more than lucky to end up with her, especially once they get to know her. "Or just leave me alone with him for three minutes and I'll give him the Lucy low-down, he'd come crawling to you within seconds."
Jensen raised an eyebrow of teasing uncertainty to Lucy. If it was anything, he was more than glad his what he wouldn't call fame wasn't to the level of anything major. To him, he was just a guy doing what he loved, it was odd to think that people would recognize him for it. "I guess that's an even bigger reason to stay off of it." He grinned. He knew he could get nervous in big crowds of people, which was odd for an musician but given the right circumstances, he could be quiet and nervous. He could bare them if he had to but he preferred not to.
"I'm good to walk."
Day one, I stumbled through hello on 5th avenue | Jensen & Bee
Bee clutched her books tighter to her chest so she wouldn’t let go of them so easily again. She’d never thought of herself as much of a clumsy person but ever since she had been less sheltered and had been able to explore the city more instead of being cooped up in her parents’ house, she had gotten herself into more than one sticky situation. Luckily, the man she had walked into was one of the kinder locals.
"No, I didn’t lose anything, I don’t think…" she told him, looking around for any spare pieces of paper that may have fallen out somewhere. There was nothing there though so she figured her books must still be intact.
She gave the man another nervous smile and stood up, unable to help but notice how handsome he was. While a lot of girls would perhaps use other words to describe how he looked, Bee often stuck to the more traditional ‘handsome’, a word that seemed to walk straight out a Jane Austen novel. She was sure that this guy wouldn’t look out of place, surrounded by Elizabeth Bennett, Emma Woodhouse and Elinor Dashwood. The sudden mental image of him wearing pantaloons caused her to duck her head in order to stifle a giggle.
When she peeked back up at him through her glasses, she was about to thank him and be on her merry way, when she heard a sharp squeal coming from the side of her and she immediately jumped. She surprised herself with the sudden action and jerked to the side, accidentally bumping into the brown-eyed man again and she shook her head at herself.
"Sorry, sorry, I just—" she began to explain herself when she was cut off by yet another squeal, this one coming from a group of girls instead of just one. And they were heading her way.
Or rather, they were heading in the man next to her’s way and Bee raised her eyebrows in surprise as they flocked to him, all clamouring for his attention at once. Confused, Bee couldn’t fathom what kind of situation she had just walked into and took an automatic step back.
"Oh my God, Jensen Barnes!" one of them was screeching while another was voicing her disbelief about she didn’t know he was in New York. Bee frowned. She had never really been up to date on pop culture. Was this man famous?
"Can we take a picture with you?" one of the girls asked. The small book-holding brunette was about to slink away when one of the mob appeared in front of her and shoved a camera phone into her hand. Oh, so she was on photography duty then.
She gripped the phone in one hand and looked up as the girls began surrounding the man and tried to figure out what pose they were going to do. He looked just as bewildered as she did and she caught his eye, giving him a confused tilt of her head.
"Um… smile?" she ventured, before taking a snap.
Jensen smiled, nodding towards the woman as she assured she didn't lose anything. Whatever it was she was holding, it seemed to look important enough to not want to lose anything, Jensen was just glad nothing was lost at his hand. "You've got quite the armful, don'tcha?" If he knew the woman more, or even if they were going near the same place, Jensen would have asked to help lighten her load, carry a few of her books to avoid further events happening like what just did between the two. But, Jensen also knew how odd and forward that could seem, as well as just a mere simple invasion of privacy and that was a rare delicacy in large cities.
But as Jensen heard the woman giggle softly, he couldn't help but curiously raise an eyebrow to her. It was almost faint enough that he wasn't sure if the giggle came from her, it could have just as easily come from a by stander. In that case, Jensen wish it wasn't. He felt like he managed to blend himself in well enough, especially after his talk with Lucy explaining that some people might actually recognize him in New York. When he left his apartment, he easily grabbed a pair of his Ray Ban glasses and s light scarf, figuring ti would be the look of nearly every other man in New York, and to his luck, he was right. The biggest difference in attire from New York to L.A. was just the climate, that and a few more suits wandered the streets.
Jensen quickly snapped out of his observation towards the outfits in New York daze as soon as he felt the woman bump into him once more. Instinctively, he grabbed onto her arms softly, hoping to avoid her dropping her gathered items once more. He already felt like he at least owed the woman that much, especially since he was the cause of the first fumble. He was about to tell the woman to quit apologizing, but each time he began to open his mouth, he heard the squeals that he assumed she heard as well. Jensen wanted to let out a sigh, but he knew he had to refrain. He was flattered that he apparently had a following in New York, he loved them, he really did, but sometimes he just wanted to have peace and quiet. He thanked his moon and stars that he wasn't any kind of One Direction or Justin Bieber fame, if he had fame at all.
Jensen nervously smirked at her, knowing if it was as uncomfortable to him, he knew she must have felt that or more. Following his nervous smirk came a laugh to match. His assumptions were confirmed as soon as she took a step back from him. He wanted to curse himself loudly for her having to be in that position. But Jensen also knew he couldn't be rude even if he tried, it wasn't really much in his nature to even think of it. So instead of dismissing the crowd of girls, Jensen threw a sympathetic look to the woman who was now standing away from the crowd, all while vocally confirming his presence to the girls.
Before Jensen could really agree to the picture, they were already posing around him, getting ready to smile for the camera. In one swift motion, Jensen managed to fake confusion and mouthed 'I'm sorry' to her as they shoved the camera into her hands. He placed his arms behind the two girls that stood closest to him and bared a smile formed between his lips.
Mentally, Jensen was cursing Lucy for jinxing him but she was right to begin with. He thought that New York was mostly filled with actors from Broadway getting attention, not really much of a person like himself. "There y'all go." He spoke, released his hands from behind their backs, allowing the pose to cease for not only himself but the girls as well, hoping they would scatter quickly after. But instead of waiting to find out, he walked over to the woman who handed back the camera, "I'm so sorry about that."
He glanced between her and the girls, figuring she probably didn't know much about him which at this point was refreshing. He also figured he could clear any confusion about who he was to the woman, not because he could boast and brag but to explain what had happened. "I'm from out in L.A., not really a big musician but a musician at the least. This doesn't happen often and I apologize for you being wound up in it."
The mood it changes like the wind, hard to control when it begins | Jensen & Lucy
Lucy threw Jensen a joking, dry look when he continued to tease her about the poster. It really hadn’t been her proudest moment and she was sure that she’d never hear the end of it if she actually told him the true story, complete with details of Jasper’s involvement as well as her Southern Belle improvisation.
"I’d call your landlord and tell him you were using your apartment as a brothel so he’d shut you down," she deadpanned. Jensen would see through her act but to anyone else, she may very well have been serious. It was times like this when she was pretty darn confident about her acting abilities.
"Oh, Beiber’s already given him his seal of approval. He was all ‘Yo… dawg…’" she began, before it became apparent that she was slowly and surely losing her composure and sanity when it came to the topic of Jasper. She felt like she was back in high school. No, literally, that was how she dealt with crushes back then, resorting to death by couch pillow and long whiny talks to Jensen.
She continued to cling onto Jensen and told herself that she would continue to do so until it well and truly sunk in that he was staying here, only a few blocks from her and she laughed into his shoulder, giving him another quick squeeze for good measure so she could at least try and contradict his words.
"You can so breathe, you wuss!" she reprimanded him, a giggle chasing her words. Eventually, she did let go though but kept an arm around him just so she could feel his solid presence and be reassured that she wasn’t going to wake up to find that this was a dream and Jensen wasn’t staying after all. He was her best friend and she wanted to see him every day. The only other person that she cared about in that same way was Julian and speaking of which…
"Wait wait wait!" she cried, holding up her free hand to halt him even though he had already finished speaking. She narrowed her eyes and suddenly looked appalled. "Julian knew you were coming and he never told me? That dick! Did you know he did the same thing to me when he first moved here. I thought he was still traveling and then he text me like ‘Surprise! Haha! In New York! Yay!’ and I was like ‘wow, asshole’. Can you believe him?"
In all honesty, she was probably just most likely, definitely trying to keep the conversation away from Jasper for as long as possible but Jensen slyly brought him up again and she groaned.
"Well, Rick’s a sheriff, he’s a soldier, I guess it’s kinda in the same field," she mused before realising what she was saying and snapping out of it, quickly shaking her head. "What, no, he does not have a zombie fetish!"
She grinned excitedly, continuing to go from one mood to the other when Jensen suggested that she could show him around and she nodded enthusiastically, already knowing where the best spots to take him were.
"It’s a lot to cover on foot," she informed him. "But it’s alright, we can just take the Sex and the City tour bus."
"Well if that's the case, I'd have no other option but to move in with you." Jensen crossed him armed across his chest while tilting his head to the side with a playful squint. "Then you'd be begging to have me back in my own apartment." He knew very well that Lucy was obviously joking. It didn't take much for him to be able to break through any cover she was putting up towards him, whether it was in a playful spirit in or in the act of hiding emotions. "That was good." He commented on her dead straight face, raising his finger towards her to give her props.
"What the hell is the element of a surprise if he were to tell you I was coming. Besides, he knew that if he told you I'd probably kill him so it was either my surprise gets ruined and you attend a funeral or the surprise sticks and everyone is happy?" Even though if Lucy knew anything about Jensen himself it was that he would honestly never hut anyone, let alone a fly. And his tone signified that he was keeping the humor thing going between the two. "So, yeah.. I can believe him. It's fun to get you punk'd."
Watching Lucy wiggle under pressure of the mention of Jasper was something newly acquired from Lucy. He could tell Lucy didn't really want to talk about it just in the mere avoidance of feeling feelings. But Jensen also wanted to Lucy to know that nothing changed between the two, that if she needed a girl to talk to, he could be a girl... to an extent. All in all, he wanted to be there for anything if she needed it. Just because she moved from L.A. didn't mean Jensen being a best friend to her went with it.
Watching Lucy slowly catch on to what Jensen was in playing was fun to watch, causing a slow smile to venture to his face. "Yeah, yeah.. you say that now. Just wait until he starts walking around saying braaaaaaiiiiiins and I'll just be here ready to say I told you so." Jensen nudged his elbow into Lucy's side, even though his elbo didn't have to travel long since she kept a good grasp on Jensen's arm as he sat beside her. "I'm joking." Jensen shook his joking tone, looking to Lucy, "do you see him much aside of the getting help on the solider role? I mean, it's pretty evident you like him."
"Well, lucky for you I'm not leaving any time soon." He noted, nodding his head to the fact that he was here to stay. "But if you make board any Sex in the City bus, I swear to god Lucy Finch... I'd rather carry you on my back myself while walking for hours."
If that tour bus didn't scream tourist, Jensen was 100% uncertain of what did. Besides, being seen on that with the terribly off chance that someone might recognize him would have been awkward as hell. Jensen hardly thought of himself in that light but he would just to avoid embarrassment.
Day one, I stumbled through hello on 5th avenue | Jensen & Bee
Bee was a fan of morning classes as it meant that she could go and learn whatever was on the agenda for that day and then have the rest of the day to herself to do as she pleased. Of course, with Bee being who she was she most likely wasn’t going to do anything too crazy and would probably end up at the library again or a quiet little coffee shop where she could find a comfy chair and read her paperbacks until it got dark and she had to head home.
That day, as soon as her lecture ended, she stood and ducked out the back door of the class so she wouldn’t be swept up into any conversation with her classmates. They were all nice people but she still preferred to keep herself to herself and not talk too much or make her presence known, just in case anyone recognised her. The press had never been particularly bothered about her before but she was pretty sure they’d have a field day if they knew she had changed her appearance and name because of what her father had done.
She buttoned up her duffel coat and wrapped her woolly scarf around her neck before tucking her books under her arm and making her way off of the campus. She wasn’t sure where she was heading, but it was barely noon so she could just wander until she got too cold and wanted to stop in somewhere.
She was slowly reaching the stage of her cheeks going numb and the tip of her nose going red because of the winter breeze when her path was interrupted by a collision with someone and she quickly gasped in surprise, her books tumbling from her hands and landing on the concrete. Normally, she would panic about them getting wet but, what with the cold air, the sidewalks were bone dry so she knew that they would get away with barely a page curl.
Leaning down to gather them up, she forgot to apologise for walking into the person, too preoccupied with rescuing her paperbacks and making sure that they didn’t get trodden on when she eventually heard a voice, much too deep to be a female’s, apologising genuinely. She looked up and saw two warm brown eyes through her glasses and the kind face of a young man who looked… well, put it this way, her cheeks weren’t so cold anymore.
"Oh, it’s okay," she reassured him with a small smile, gratefully accepting her books when he held them out to her after helping gather them up. She switched them from arm to arm until she eventually got a decent grip on them and stood up.
"I’m sorry, too. I wasn’t really paying attention to where I was going," she admitted. In truth, she was lucky. Most people in the city wouldn’t take as kindly to being barged into like this guy had.
As soon as the woman tried to apologize, Jensen immediately waved his hands in front of her hoping she would stop. She had no reason to apologize. Jensen should have been watching where he was going rather than observing the buildings and everything else that New York encompassed when the everything would still be there the next day. Especially since Lucy did promise to show him around a bit.
"No, no. Please don't apologize." Jensen glanced around the area where the two were gathering the books, making sure nothing was getting trampled on my the New Yorker that roamed the streets next to them. "To be fair, I wasn't really paying attention either."
As Jensen stood up, he held his hand out for the woman, allowing her to stand up easily without losing balance and undo everything they had just done. "You didn't lose anything did you?" Luckily, Jensen didn't recall seeing any notes or papers flying out but to be fair, he wasn't really focused on watching what was being dropped until it was already said and done. Thankfully, she didn't seem to be like the type that would yell bells and whistled towards Jensen for not keeping his eye out, like how he had seen people do in L.A. from time to time.
Though, the New York streets seemed a little different than L.A.'s, aside from the climate change. That was one thing he was definitely still getting used to and going shopping for winter closed wasn't exactly something Jensen was too excited about. He had a handful of things, but if he was going to have to deal with the cold for more than just a year, he knew it was bound to happen.
And it was safe to say the cold was definitely something Jensen wasn't entirely used to. Back home if the temperatures broke below sixty degrees, everyone was breaking out their coats and scarves but it seemed like here, that was almost a silly thing to do. Most of the time a light jacket was seen in it. And by the way the woman was dressed, Jensen assumed she was familiar with New York. But, the same could have been said about Jensen's appearance since he hardly own anything heavier than a jacket.
Looking back to the woman's appearance, Jensen would have been an idiot if he didn't admit to himself that he thought she was pretty. Of all the people he had to run into, luck struck with her looking like she did. Although, he thought that was a pretty shallow thing to think and he immediately hated himself for thinking it. He hated the people that merely only judged people on their outward appearance and that type of habit wasn't something Jensen took often.
The mood it changes like the wind, hard to control when it begins | Jensen & Lucy
Normally Lucy was a good actress, except when her nerves got the better of her. She was actually quite an anxious person which meant that as soon as Jensen brought up the ripped down zombie poster, all her decorum went out the window. Blushing a bright red, she risked a glance up at him and the knowing smile on his face only proved to her that he didn’t believe her one bit.
"Okay, so I kind of ripped it down. Not in a vandalism way, just—well, it’s a long story, you had to be there," she told him, sighing and covering up her face with her hands. It was astounding that she had played a number of different roles, with the majority of them being classy women who did not stutter nor falter under pressure. She had hoped that those experiences would help with how she carried herself off camera but instead, she returned to being her flaky and bumbling self as soon as the credits finished rolling.
This obviously didn’t help her along when she thought of Jasper. She would like to be calm and collected in front of the other man and not frighten him off, but that was hard for her to do. Jasper had now been subject to the full force of a flustered Lucy Finch, which meant that, in her eyes, there was little hope for her actually impressing him again. Unless she made a mean batch of cookies which she was absolutely sure would end in tears. Or fire.
"I know him quite a bit. I call him whenever I have a question about the role and I’ve bumped into him a few times and just—here, Jensen, here, just slap me, slap the girliness out of me," she told her friend, leaning forward as if actually expecting him to slap all the stupidity out of her. The last thing she needed at that moment was a juvenile crush since she was still working on building her career in New York.
She immediately delivered a playful shove to Jensen’s shoulder when she caught onto his teasing, her hand slipping though as soon as she realised what it was he was saying. An apartment? So, that meant…
"You’re moving here!?" she practically screeched, launching herself over the couch cushions to tackle him in another hug, not holding back and unloading the full force of a cuddle attack onto him. The thought of Jensen visiting had always caused Lucy to anticipate the next time she would see him and had filled her with excitement but to actually be able to see him every day now that he was going to be staying here permanently? Well, that was the best early Christmas present she could ask for.
"Oh my God, you jerk! I thought you were only here for a few weeks! But you’re staying? Like, actually staying? Oh my God, this is awesome!" she yelled, probably waking up her neighbours given the early hour. She couldn’t find it in herself to feel guilty though, too hyped up on Jensen’s news.
"Oh, please," she said, sitting herself down comfortably in his lap. It was an intimate way to sit but nothing but platonic when it came to her and Jensen. "The girls are going to love you here. I can only pull guys with weird zombie fetishes."
Jensen let a laugh sound, shifting his gaze from Lucy out into the open space. It didn't surprise him that the poster was ripped down at her hands. Lucy had a good way of making a situation interesting and lord knows he wished she could have seen that one unfold. Knowing Lucy, it would have been amusing at the very least. "Guess going to buy one of those posters and framing in my place would have been frowned upon?"
"No way." He admitted, this side of Lucy was different. Of course he had seen her when she liked someone but it was safe to say this situation was a little different. She just acted different towards this supposed Jasper than she had anyone else. She was bashful and shy about it, which.. if you knew Lucy, that was definitely odd. "Am I going to have to go around and getting the J.B. seal of approval on this one? And no, I don't mean Justin Bieber."
But it didn't take long for his confident, sturdy ground shift to being tackled by a woman whose size you should apparently never underestimate. After all the years of knowing Lucy, you'd think he had learned to never un-expect the un-expecting.. Lucy was was full of surprises and even though Jensen was a hearty 6'2, Lucy was able to bulldoze him down without a second try even though she was a foot shorter than him. But as he fell over, he was able to let out a laugh that was genuine, something that he had been missing since Lucy left L.A.
"Guess the cat's out of the bag." His voice muffled by the sheer force of squeeze that Lucy was able to inflict out of her little body."Can't breathe!" Though, he was hardly complaining as he easily returned the hug back to Lucy.
Jensen pushed himself back up to a sitting position as Lucy comfortably found the place to sit on Jensen's lap. "As much as I'd like to torture you and lie, yeah.. I'm staying.. like, actually staying." He mocked back her words, but not in a condescending manner. He found it as just his way of reassuring what she was saying out loud to him. "it's actually just a few miles from here. Luck struck since I found it before I even knew were you were stayin', thanks to good ol' Julian."
Jensen hardly thought highly about himself and how he might have looked in the eyes of the fangirls, so it came just as naturally to him to laugh off the statement Lucy was giving him. "Hey. you might land a Rick Grimes someday, you never know." He teased. "You tellin' me this Jasper kid has a zombie fetish?"
All Jensen knew was they he still had a lot to learn. This was a whole new city to him and though he had been here once for work, he never really got to actually see the city, there was no leisure time and he never got the chance to walk around. Surely enough, he knew he would be asking for Lucy's help every now and then.
"You know this means you're going to be showing me around the place, right?"
Day one, I stumbled through hello on 5th avenue | Jensen & Bee
Venturing out into the city should have frightened Jensen more than it didn't. It was all unfamiliar territory, you could take a turn easily down the wrong street and end up god knows where. He was used to L.A., he could nearly walk the streets with his eyes closed and know which signs he was passing or he would know when to step slightly to the side to avoid the tables that sat outside of the restaurants but not in New York. But Jensen knew that if he was going to live in this new city, he would have to adjust. Lucky, Lucy was able to show him around a little bit but he was definitely still learning.
His apartment happened to be a few miles from Central Park, a place he was sure he would end up visiting if he needed to get away for a little while if he got the use to dip into his song writing soon. His apartment was cozy enough, but sometimes it was the change of pace of fresh air that really helped.
But today, his destination wasn't Central Park, in fact he wasn't entirely sure what his destination was. He figured he would just walk outside and go where ever his feet took him. He was able to take mental notes of where each place he passed was in correlation to his apartment, allowing him to not get too lost. Even if he did, the beauty of technology and a GPS would come be his lucky white knight.
The one familiar thing to him about New York and Los Angeles was definitely the amount of people that occupied a city square block. To some people, it could have easily been overwhelming but Jensen was easily used to it. He could understand how Lucy claimed he would adapt to New York with a charm. So far, she seemed to be right.
He evidently let himself get too adapted, or at least enough to let his guard fall over the abundance of bodies on the sidewalk as he felt himself bump right into someone who appeared to be carrying quite the number of books. Before he even let himself process what was happening, he was already on the ground helping the woman round up her books, hoping he hadn't caused her to damage any of them too terribly.
"I'm so sorry," he grabbed each book that fell close to him, "I wasn't exactly paying attention to where I was going." As he collected a small amount of books in his hands, he shifted his gaze to the woman. Jensen was almost taken back, for some reason not really expecting the woman to look like she did. She was pretty to say the least. Jensen smiled, handing her the books that he managed to gather while she scooped up the rest, "sorry, again."
The mood it changes like the wind, hard to control when it begins | Jensen & Lucy
Lucy shrugged her shoulders smugly when Jensen dubbed her as ‘Little Miss New York’. She wasn’t sure what it was about the city that had made her feel so at ease in it but she really had settled in rather well. In her eyes, it was pretty much impossible to not fall in love with the place. She hoped that Jensen would only feel the same too after spending some time in it. She had a feeling that she could sell the place to him.
However, her voice did rise a few octaves when Jensen mentioned the movie poster that she had tore down a few weeks ago. She still couldn’t get over how embarrassing she had been that day, and was eager to forget about it and quickly cover up what Jensen had seen.
"Oh, well, you know, most people don’t like zombies and I mean did I even do a zombie movie I don’t even remember they all just kind of blur into one for me do you want some tea?" she said, all in the one breath so she was left panting slightly, but that didn’t stop her from plastering a wide ‘everything is a-okay’ grin on her face. It almost hurt her cheeks.
When Jensen mentioned Jasper and how he had helped her with her role, Lucy rolled her eyes and gave her friend a playful shove to his shoulder. She liked to think that she hadn’t forced Jasper into aiding her and thinking back on their first meeting, she took comfort in the fact that he had seemed more than willing to help her out and answer her questions. She supposed she just had a bit of a tendency to be overbearing at times, especially when she was stressed or unhappy and was making a last ditch attempt to fix things. Then her voice got high pitched and screechy and people knew to step back and make themselves scarce if they weren’t going to be of any help to her.
"He’s actually really nice," she told Jensen, the thought of Jasper causing an involuntary smile to appear on her face, nothing like the usual wide and overenthusiastic grins that showed up when she got overly excited, but this was more of a gentle and fond smile that made itself known when she thought of the other man and she readjusted her position in her chair in order to just do something to try and get the dopey smile off of her face.
"His name is Jasper," she told her friend, her voice dropping in volume ever so slightly and she knew that if it had been Julian sitting across from her then he would surely find some way to tease her and attempt to entertain the idea of her having a crush on the soldier. That wasn’t the case though, she just liked the other man for his personality and willingness to help her with her role. At least she was pretty sure that was why she liked him so much. His face was just… well, it didn’t hurt to look/stare at from time to time.
Suddenly letting out a high pitched groan, Lucy slapped her palm to her forehead and flopped down against the pillows on her sofa.
"He’s really nice, why is he so nice?" she complained, picking up a pillow and dropping it on her face in a half hearted attempt to suffocate herself that she quickly gave up on in order to reply to Jensen.
"New York is way better than Nashville," she insisted, although she didn’t have much evidential proof of that to base her argument on seeing as she had never been to the other city before. Despite playing a lawyer before, she would make a pretty crap one in actuality. She grinned when Jensen mentioned the climate though. That’s what she loved so much about Manhattan. It was sunny when she wanted it to be and snowed when it was supposed to. Plus, she got a chance to break out all of her cute knitwear that she hadn’t had much of a chance to invest in back in LA.
"New York is… well, it’s great. I think you’d really like it. And the music scene is pretty great as well. I’m pretty sure people would flock to one of the bars in the Village if they heard Jensen Barnes was playing there,” she informed him, teasingly.
Jensen raised his eyes suspiciously to Lucy, knowing that if she was able to ramble all of that into one breath, that was enough to make Jensen pry. Usually, he respected privacy but this was Lucy for crying out loud, the two hardly kept anything from each other and even if they did, the secret was kept from the other for probably 24 hours tops. "Uh huh." He said, completely not buying her cover up. "No thanks on the tea, but let's try that answer again, shall we?" His words came out while a smile became present on his face.
"So," Jensen's mind tried to wrap itself around everyhing Lucy was telling him. She seemed to easily make her home in New York, from landing a role, to already seeking help with the role to starting a friendship with that said soldier. "How well do you know this Jasper guy?" To others, it could have just sounded like curiosity, but it was also a hind of being protective over Lucy. Not at all in the jealousy way, but Lucy was his best friend, being protective came with the package of it all. But he also knew Lucy had good judgement, if she thought he was a good guy, that was near enough to convince Jensen that he was a good guy.
Although, his good guy demeanor started to shift, causing Jensen to believe that Lucy Finch had her first soldier crush. Though, Jensen usually hated the word crush. To him, it sounded like you were back in the first grade, getting the giddy 'should I ask her to sit with me at lunch' feeling. It was a kiddish word, so many Lucy was starting to like the guy, more than just friends. But as far as Jensen knew, he was still fresh into New York, like... less than 24 hours in fresh. He couldn't make that kind of judgement. "He must just be sooo nice!" His voice sounded in the valley girl accent, almost making himself immediately uncomfortable with how well that accent actually sounded. "I did that a little too well didn't I?"
"I guess you're just going to have to show me the in's and out's of the place seeing as how I'm signing a lease for an apartment tomorrow." He finally spilled, playing the 'I don't know where I'll land" game would have been fun to drag out, but he also knew that announcing his stay would have been just as exciting.
"I don't know about that. Outside of L.A., I'm pretty certain hardly anyone would even stop to glance to see the name Jensen Barnes on a local poster." Jensen never kept u with popularity, that wasn't why he was in the music business. He did ti because he loved it, and even if it was just one person that was drawn into his work, that was enough to make him continue. He wasn't there for the oo's and ah's of it all, that wasn't his style.
"But if you say a Lucy Finch zombie movie is playing at a movie festival, you better believe that sucker is sold out." Knowing how much Lucy didn't particularly like her sci-fi role was enough to continue to tease her about it. He never once meant it in a hateful way, but just because that's how their friendship worked. It was always fun and upbeat, teasing was plentiful.
The mood it changes like the wind, hard to control when it begins | Jensen & Lucy
Lucy rarely liked people coming back to her apartment, even when she knew them all. She didn’t know what it was that set her on edge about it but she liked that her apartment was her own personal and private space. The only person who had set foot in it since her move to New York had been her dad when he helped her move in and Julian. However, Jensen was Jensen which meant that she didn’t mind letting him in at all. He had seen her at her worst and her worst wasn’t her almost painfully organised apartment.
When Jensen asked her how the city was treating her, she spun around to face him, her arms flying a little at her sides at the motion and she nodded, pondering his words a little bit.
"I like it," she said, eventually. She had heard that a lot of people struggled to adapt very well to the city, but Lucy had been adapting to new places her whole life and she had decided that she liked New York an awful lot. She couldn’t keep herself to herself in LA and not even in the acting sense. She was hardly a big actor anyway, but someone was always clamouring for her attention or asking for favours and she hadn’t experienced that yet in New York.
"Yeah, I really like it," she told Jensen, nodding in finality and knowing that he would probably take to is just as well. Of course, Lucy knew just how much of a charismatic guy Jensen was. It didn’t take long for people to fall even just a little bit in love with him, whereas she knew that most people were a little put off by her and her harebrained antics sometimes.
Still too excited about Jensen’s arrival to even think about doing the polite thing and offering him something to eat or drink, Lucy bounced onto her couch and slammed her hand into the cushion next to her, indicating that he should sit his butt there as she continued to slap at the furniture. She supposed she did have a lot to catch him up on after all.
“Well, I got the role in that new soldier movie I was telling you about!” she told him before leaning over to her coffee table and picking up her binder. “And these are all my notes. I actually have a real soldier turned civilian helping me out so I’m probably going to nail it. And I’m auditioning for Holly Golightly in this one off production of Breakfast at Tiffany’s soon!”
Lucy was nearly always keeping herself busy so she always had something to talk about, even if what she was telling Jensen was all strictly business. There was little that had happened in her personal life though that she thought was worthy of note. The events on that side of things could easily be summed up by a tumbleweed rolling across a dusty road.
"What about you, mister?" she asked him, crossing her legs and drumming her hands on her knees in a repetitive pattern. "What’s brought you to the east coast? Apart from missing me, of course."
Jensen knew that it would take a bit for Lucy to not be able to adapt to her new surroundings and he didn't expect New York to be any different for her. She adapted far better than Jensen ever could. He got along with anyone pretty easily, given they return the interest but he knew that if he decided to make New York his new home, he'd have to take adapting 101 from Lucy.
Jensen's eyed widened with the swift motion of raising his brows at the same time. He was happy to hear she found herself a job, let alone a real life replica of what she was taking on. "Well look at you, little miss New York." His arms extended, raising them up in down of the motion of signally Lucy. "Sounds like yuo're keeping busy. Even if I did see a crumpled up poster of your zombie movie outside the movie rental." He glanced back at the door, acting like he could see the store from where he stood. "I don't know how that can get tattered inside the store." Her eyebrows furrowed in confusion, only momentarily before shrugging it off.
"Nice of the guy to help you though. You didn't have to twist his arm too bad did ya?" He didn't know how all soldiers were, but he had a pretty good feeling that they either wanted the past to be in the past and not touch back up on it, or own the solider occupation proudly, saying they'd go back and do it a hundred times if it meant keeping well being of their country. Some were may indifferent, but Jensen didn't know this guy. So he liked to think it was a good heart that allowed him to help Lucy. then again, Jensen knew Lucy and knew it was hard to turn her down. She was too kind.
"Who's to say I have an agenda?" He asked, side eyeing her with a smile on his face. "Nah, I'm in between places now. Kinda had it with L.A. for a while." It wasn't that he had drama, he just needed a change of pace, a place where not everyone around was looking to put him to work around every corner. "So, it's either Nashville or this little bitty city." He smiled, nudging Lucy's arm.
"But, I know how much you'd miss me if I was in Nashville." He joked. But he still had to keep both options open. He had job offers in both cities. With songwriting, Nashville always welcomed all the writers they could get but he also knew music still lived in New York as well.
"Besides, the west coast still hasn't figured out what autumn and winter are."
The mood it changes like the wind, hard to control when it begins | Jensen & Lucy
Lucy’s previous ditzy moment was quickly overlooked and she didn’t feel the need to be embarrassed about it for once. Jensen had seen how she had acted through each and every high school crush to know just how harebrained the blonde could be and he had never thought any less of her for it. Like any big brother figure, he had teased her, of course, but he was one of the few people that Lucy had instilled her full trust in. Plus, he had seen her at her worst and hadn’t turned back.
The last time she had seen Jensen was still difficult to think about. The goodbye was painful enough but the reason that she had to leave still haunted her, the memory always crawling up her spine and causing her to shudder in disgust. She had always thought that despite her often frantic and erratic behaviour, she had common sense and a good head on her shoulders but apparently she could be dimmer than she thought she had the capacity to be. What she had first thought to be a harmless independent movie had turned into an unlicensed porno that she had stupidly agreed to without doing any background checks on the producer or director. After nearly being forced to have sex in front of a camera against her will, it had been Jensen who had got her out of the ordeal and it had been Jensen who made sure that the press wouldn’t get ahold of that information.
To this day, Lucy still felt completely humiliated but she was ready to put that behind her and Jensen’s arrival did the complete opposite of bringing up bad memories. Instead, a gleeful grin resided on her face as she hugged him, squeezing him tightly until she realised that she pretty much had him in a chokehold and quickly let him go so he could breathe. She playfully batted at the front of his hat so it fell over his eyes before beaming and excitedly bouncing up and down on the balls of her feet.
"Yeah you did promise that ages ago so it’s about time you got your butt here," she told him, shoving his hat back up again so she could nod enthusiastically and usher him into her apartment. It was still sparsely furnished and she had yet to pick a colour to paint the walls, but it was tidy enough and she had gotten used to calling it home.
"Come in, come in," she encouraged him, closing the door behind her before quickly jumping forwards so she was at his side in an instant. "How long are you here for?"
Jensen never liked goodbyes, especially when it meant his best friend would have been moving out of state. He promised himself that technically it wasn't a goodbye, just more of a see you later when she left. He promised not only her but himself that he would visit her, he just hated how long it actually took him to do so. Between work and his personal life, he hardly had spare time. But the second he caught sight of a break, he threw caution to the wind and darted out of L.A. as fast as he could without anyone catching sight of him resting.
"Honestly," he cleared his through, not entirely certain of how long his stay truly was, "I'm not really sure." All he knew was that he wasn't ready to go back to California, not quiet yet. It seemed odd to say that New York was already a breath of fresh air, given it was surrounded by buildings, taxis and crowded street corners. Who knows, maybe Jensen could be like one of those celebrities that have houses in nearly every major city, as well as off it in random mountain towns, though Jensen wasn't a not in the slightest. He was just a worker, a hard worker.
As Jensen look around the room, he noticed that she seemed to be settling in well, though it probably did help knowing she had family and friends here. Lucy had also been here and there enough to know how to settle quickly, with acting putting her on different locations. It was a lifestyle Jensen didn't know how to tackle.
"How's the city treatin' you?" He asked, his eyes still darting around the rooms, taking in everything. Everything seemed so familiar, aside from the unpainted walls. He could look at the decor, close his eyes and picture where things stood in her home back in L.A. easily. He had spent enough time in her home to be able to close his eyes and maneuver the halls and turns and doorways with ease.
"Anything exciting an old friend should know about?"Jensen narrowed his eyes, challenging Lucy to speak up about her life, even if he meant the challenge in a teasing way as he always had. "Three is only so much you can tell a guy over Skype and FaceTime."
Though if you were to ask Jensen about his life, it was nearly the same routine. Wake up, g o to work, come home, cook dinner and repeat. He didn't have a love ineterest or much of a love life, he just didn't have time. Work consumed him, but he wasn't a workaholic, he hated the fact that he was so busy. This trip was a way for him to change that. He needed a break. And if there was anyone who could help make an influence on that, it was Lucy.
The mood it changes like the wind, hard to control when it begins | Jensen & Lucy
Lucy thought that she had settled into New York and had adapted to it rather well. It was a massive change from Los Angeles but she liked the privacy of the city a lot more. No one crowded her in the streets or really recognised her at all when she was in jeans and a hoody and she loved that. She had always been big on the idea of privacy but had discovered that it was hard to come by in LA. People were nosy and bold and didn't like to keep themselves to themselves like New Yorkers did.
Although she would need to talk to her father before any rash decisions were made, Lucy had decided that she wanted to make New York her new home. For the woman who had travelled from place to place so much as a child, she had never really let herself get attached to one place in case she was uprooted again. She was an adult now though and it was time for her to decide what she did with her life.
Besides, she now had some solid friendships in New York to help her along. There were old friends like Julian and Sierra that she had known for ages as well as Andrew and Kyle whom she had grown to love as her brother and bearer of flower crowns, respectively. On top of that, she had befriended Jasper as well who was helping her out with her soldier role. All in all, she was keeping good company in New York.
There were people from the other side of the country she did admittedly miss, her father for one, but also the other friends she had made. Jensen was one of them. She had known the man since she was little and he was like another big brother to her. He had looked out for her when she had first been thrown into LA life headfirst and she really did miss him.
When a knock sounded on her door that morning, Jensen was still on her mind as she shuffled into the hallway in her bunny slippers. Opening the door tiredly, without bothering to check through the peephole who it was (another thing she would never have done in LA), she simply blinked when she saw Jensen standing on the other side.
"Hmm," was all she said, stifling a yawn before she leaned her head on the door sleepily. Accidentally hitting it a little too hard off the wood, she hissed when a jolt of pain shot up her temple and rubbed at the spot until the ache subsided.
However, that's when things became clear to her and her jaw dropped as she stared at Jensen. Wait, so she wasn't dreaming? He was really there?
"Oh my God. Oh my GOD!" she yelled, before launching herself at the man, wrapping her arms around his neck in a hug. He was a solid presence underneath her and she was almost glad for the slight aching of her head which reminded her that she was very much awake.
"What are you doing here!?" she squealed, betraying just how excited she was, because Lucy Finch rarely ever squealed.
Jensen felt his heart do the happy little flutter, not due to a crush that he had, which he didn't, but just due to pure happiness. It had been far too long since he had been face to face with his favorite Blonde Wonder. He didn't really feel like himself since she left, not because his demeanor changed completely, but more so just the fact that his best friend was no longer in the vicinity, it wasn't just a quick walk to herself but a long, long drive if he was brave enough to attempt it.
He quickly, instinctively wrapped his arms around her, pulling her in for a tight, hug, slightly lifting her up off of the ground like he had done in the past. It grew as a common thing between the two, given their heigh differences, it was somethinig easy for Jensen to do.
Jensen finally placed her back on the ground, letting his embrace loosen around her, getting a good look at the woman who was finally in front of him. "Do you really have to ask that?" He asked, a smile still evident on his face, hit hat slightly shading half of his face but he figured she was just short enough to see his face, regardless of any shadow that was present.
"I had to come visit my best girl, you know that. I promised you a visit a long time ago." He was happy to see her so excited, reassuring her that this visit was a good thing. He would love nothing more than to make this place his home as well. He had bee researching it for a while, knowing many in the music career easily bounced between L.A. and New York. Most of the time it seemed only the actors/esses resided in Los Angeles nowadays. He figured L.A., New York and Nashville would be easy to consider home for any of the musical inclined.
"So, can I come in or are you going to make me ask twice?" He grinned, knowing he could throw a tease at her any day, Lucy was completely capable of throwing any tease right back at her as soon as he threw one her way.
He could see her living quarters slightly from the door way, her shock led to her not closing the door behind her. It looked comfortable, just as her home had always looked. It suited her well.
The mood it changes like the wind, hard to control when it begins | Jensen & Lucy
Surprised weren't something that Jensen was particularly a pro at, in fact ninety percent of the time he was awful at it and would avoid them at all costs, whether it was a surprise for him or someone else. Mostly because it would go hand in hand with lying to someone about something, just to make sure they show up to the place on time and if you were to ask anyone, lying was something Jensen was terrible at. Though, in this case, he wasn't lying to anyone or setting up any big shebang where he had to make someone jump out of their seat by fifty people shouting surprise.
He had been planning this surprise for nearly two weeks and it was the easiest one he had worked up. No one was expecting him, no one had to collaborate with him to make all the pieces fit just right. Instead, it was all on him making each job a swift effort. He hadn't seen Lucy in nearly three or four months, making the object of surprise even sweeter.
When Lucy left Los Angeles, he felt like the city got a little dimmer deach day she was gone. Sure they had except Skype and FaceTime calls, nothing could replace the fact that he couldn't spend time with her face to face. She was one of the few in the city he really, truly trusted and enjoyed spending time with her. He would easily call Lucy his best friend, hardly anyone else was able to carry that title in his eyes. She was a rare gem, something Jensen would always hold towards her.
Luckily, Jensen was able to keep in contact with Julian pretty well, knowing he would be able to tell Jensen were the most likely place that Lucy would be. Instead of chancing a place she would spend time at, he took a stab in the dark and managed to find himself standing in front of her door way.
A grin started to form on his face, knowing he could finally see his friend face to face for the first time in months. It was obvious he missed her, he didn't have anyone else to tease or let loose with, seeing as how in his industry, most people didn't have time for fun and games. He loved his work, but sometimes he just needed the friendly face to lighten the mood.
Jensen brought his hand up to the door, letting a strong loud knock be head from Lucy if she was on the opposite side of the door, but happily, he heard soft footsteps sound from the inside, bringing a grin to Jensen's face. And as the door swung open, he was reacquainted with his long lost friend. "Surprise?" His voice sounded with glee, happy to finally see Lucy again.
