It had been her fault, really. College life had been busier than she’d expected and somehow Jere always managed to be her last priority … not because he was the least important thing in her life (far from it) but because she knew that he’d always be there. But that had left her with barely any time for him at all. She’d been gone for two and a half months and she wondered if she’d managed to call him more than twice.  

Had she thought that things would change, she would have fought for them. She loved Jere and she knew she always would, but none of this was fair to him. So, she’d let him go.

“But we’ll … we’ll still be friends? Won’t we?”

He smiled, soft but sad, “Always.”

Fire Song | Jere & Harry

Jere breathed out a long sigh, as Harry Lennox colorfully asked who he was.  He tried to think what kind of life Harry must lead that a fire didn’t seem memorable.  Jere was a firefighter, he saw fires a lot, but he still remembered.  He was probably high at the time, Jere considered before forming the ghost of a polite smile.  “I’m the guy who pulled you out of the fire.”

He wondered if that’d jog his memory at all, or if Harry would even tell him how the burn was.  It hadn’t seemed bad and Jere imagined it was probably mostly - if not completely - healed by now, but still.  It was only polite to ask.  He’d saved the kid and that meant that, unfortunately, Jere felt a little responsible for him.  At least, in that particular area.

Earlier that day, Jere had thought it might be a good idea to swing by and pick Rora up from work, but in that he’d met up with the youngest Lennox rather than Rora, he was starting to rue the decision.  Still, he knew Harry had to have a challenging life.  As little as Jere was enjoying this interlude, Harry had to live his whole life that way and Jere could only imagine how much that must suck.

“I guess you’re probably all healed up by now?” he tried, again.

No, I totally feel you!  And aljdfkjdskljafkljdsajfksd the fact that she’s starting to forge those relationships laksjdfkljdskl afkjds afkldjsakfl and tbh he would def get all of that bc he’s kinda in the same boat, to a degree.  I mean, he has an extended family bopping around, but he kinda feels like he missed out on the immediate family experience and tbh I think he’s way closer to his friends than his parents and just...yeah.  So, he comes from the other side of the issue, but it amounts to a similar situation.

GDI JACK but it’s true.  And I feel like he def does weird dad things with Pippa sometimes and just smh and he probs likes to teach her things and swears he’s gonna teach her to fix things so plumbers can never pull the wool over her eyes on things and I just smh

(I feel like Marc is v good at throwing the football around but less so at the grocery store. tbh I feel like he makes a lOT of jokes and doesn’t really do much help w/ the planning what they should eat and just kinda throws things in the cart “i’d eat that” and it’s probably best if jere goes w/o him most times smh

I def feel like that didn’t really change anything for Nick at first.  He’s like YEAH BUT I DON’T SEE THE GUY OVER HERE SNEAKING IN TO TRY AND GET YOU BACK but tbh if he ~had done that, Nick probs would’ve just been like, “OMG good thing you cut this stalker creep loose,” so tbh Jere literally can’t win but anyway.  I think the fervor did die down bc, yeah, it was mutual and it was her idea and yeah.  As for whether or not he can tell she still like shim, I think that’d def depend on how she acts around Jere atp?

okay so i feel like these two could be awesome friends??? and they met when jere was dating rora??? i feel like marc is def protective of his sisters, too, but not nearly as protective as nick and he’s more of a ~you’re cool until you aren’t~ type like he’d let his sisters pick whatever guy they wanted to date and that’s fine w/ him right up until they hurt them (meanwhile there’s nick who isn’t gonna even let that be a possibility lol)??? and like idk what nick felt about jere but marc was def cool w/ him the entire time.

Ommmmggggg dude they'd be the most awesome friends!!!!  And they def need to be roomies!!!!!  (Though Nick probs reminds Marc all the time that he’s totally cool to crash at Nick’s place any time <3333  and shhh you didn’t hear this from me but Nick kinda wishes he would move in.)  I can totally picture Marc and Jere doing everything from tossing a football to grocery shopping and I cry bc I feel like Jere is tooootally useless at computers, like that time your dad thought iTunes was a virus?  Yeah, that’s Jere.  Marc could literally hack ppl right in front of him and Jere would be like, ‘what’re you doing?’ and he could probs say ‘facebook’ and Jere would just be like, ‘ok cool.’  I mean, I don’t think Nick has nearly Marc’s lvel of expertise, for instance, but I think he has a normal sense of these things but Jere is utterly hopeless.  (Also I love the idea of a bachelor pad abutting the bachelorette estate bc actual insanity ESP when they get their powers + having a Cole - or Pierce - there automatically links the Potters to half the towns population lbr *throws confetti* which equals even more hijinks)

Tbh, it’d def mean alot to Jere that Marc was supportive of his relationship w Rora.  Like, he def doesn’t wanna cause her any trouble w her family or anything and tbh Nick is probs enough of a handful for anyone so there’s that ;DDD  I do think Jere was ‘Nick approved’ but he’d still give him the stink eye from time to time (I mean, the honest truth is - a big part of why he finally relented is bc he could tell Jere was a basically good guy but mostly bc Rora wanted it and he’s weak when it comes to disappointing his sisters but tbh NO ONE will ever be good enough for his sisters and that’s just that) and being a little grumpy about it.  But yeah as soon as they broke up, he was probs like, “Should’ve known better, should’ve known he’d hurt you” *protective bear brother* smh and probs al ot of police vs firefighter jabs ensued.  But I think since it was mutual, Nick didn’t have much of a leg to stand on when it came to holding onto that grudge so I think atp, Nick occasionally wil still give him the stink eye, esp if he’s w Rora, but mostly I think he’s cool w Jere atp.

Ok, so I feel like Jere basically moved into the apartment as soon as he turned 18 and could move out of his parents’ home.  I think his relationship with his family is…strained, but he always had a great relationship with their aunt and tbh I think he loved her like she was his own, yknow?  And I feel like he might’ve promised her that he’d look after her nieces, if they let him stay.

Anyway, they did, and he’s continuing the deal he had with their aunt: that he basically keep everything running smoothly (which at an old house like theirs basically is a full-time occupation tbqh I would know hahaha) and I think he really likes the girls and loves hearing about NYC and is really, really grateful that he got to stay bc tbh I think he basically has six bucks to his name tbh.  Like, he started out pr poor and then he was like, “Hey, I wanna do something to help ppl,” so he became a firefighter but that doesn’t pay ~that well and yeah hahahaha but he doesn’t mind.

Anyway, he’s just happy to be here and if they ever have some plumbing or roofing or whatever issue, he’s the one to call.  (Also he secretly is developing ~feelings for Tess but he knows she’s not looking to get into anything rn so he keeps that to himself.)

i feel like celia takes pretty quickly to jer tbh. like idk that she’s super thrilled to be here and i think she can come off a little ~distant~ most of the time, but i think that jeremy is also the first person that she met and he was really friendly and he knew their aunt and i think that celia is hella curious about her (although i think she has mixed feelings b/c there’s this family she didn’t know she had, but also wondering why her aunt never reached out to them before all this, you know? like they could have used her help a long time ago, but idk that she’d take any of that out on jer, so yeah). 

but she also realizes that she really needs to be v nice to him b/c shit breaks a LOT in this house and like everyday it’s not “is everything okay?” but rather “what is broken today?” 

also i think he’s def her go to person when she has questions about how to get somewhere or where the best (probs only tbh) chinese place is or whatever. 

i def don’t think she has any clue about him liking tess but i think she’d be cool with that pairing if she did. <3

Jere is like ridiculously patient and I do think he’d take her however she comes, yknow?  He’s just pr chill and I think he def gets that they’re all in pr intense culture shock and wouldn’t blame them for any of that.  I also think he would love to travel and see the world.  I mean, don’t get me wrong, he looooves his this town and he’d def come back here after all that this is his home etc etc etc but I think he also just assumes he’ll never leave bc ~money and so I can see him asking alot of quesitons about NYC and their trip.  And he’d be more than happy to answer any of her questions!!!  I think it probs makes him think of his cousins and the Clarke girls reconnecting except their aunt is dead and he def thinks that’s hella sad so he’d do whatever he could to help breach that gap and also soothe whatever aches etc etc etc

HAHAHAHAH I do feel like he spends most of his spare time fixing things, but he def doesn’t mind.  He likes being useful and if there are apples around, he’s more than happy anyway I s2g his needs are so small hahahahaha  Plus he’s like, “This is still the best deal I could possibly have, not gonna do anything to blow this.”

HAHAHAHAH omg he probs get bemused when they ask him things like, “What the ‘best’ x is,” and he’s just like, “Well, that’d def be y and that’s mostly bc it’s the only x in town.”  But if theirs isn’t good/there isn’t one in town, he can probs point them towards the closest one too ;DDDDD

It’d def mean alot to him that she’s cool w Jere/Tess bc he def wants her family to be comfortable w it if anything ever happens ofc but tbh he probs doesn’t think they would be that cool w it bc I feel like he doesn’t think he really deserves Tess and so he probs assumes her family thinks that too :((((

Okay, so we actually talked about maybe Rachel having babysitter Jere (and Leslie too) when he was like ten so they would have known each other pretty well back in the day and you know Rachel wasn’t the kind d babysitter to stick them in front of the tv and def took them hiking and swimming and to te library etc. um but yeah idk how much they kept in contact since then?? But I do think that Rachel was sooo happy to meet her extended family here and hole she’s not related to JERe he is related to her cousins, so he feels like family and I can see her inviting him to bbqs and birthdays and other family get togethers??

Oh, yeah, I def think they’re friends!!!!!  Whatever else may or may not be the case, Jere cares about her a LOT.  In fact, I’d argue he still loves her.  I mean, I think the form of love has shifted more to friendship for him, but yknow what I mean?  He can’t picture his life wo her and he def doesn’t want to.  I do think that Jere was determined not to loose her altogether and determined that they find a way to keep each other in their lives, when they broke up, and yeah I def think it’s probs weird bc when they’re both single, he probs still takes her out to things??????  (Just as friends??????  Which is probs hella confusing for everyone tbh??????)  I can also see him jokingly going, “Hey, if we’re both single when we’re 60, let’s get married and travel the world” or something dumb bc he’s like, “Like hell she’d ever be single” but he kind of assumes he’s gonna end up alone and *bursts into flame*
