Itâd become almost routine to go out to the old abandoned factory around that time at least once a week. Typically it was reports of some kids trying to climb the fences or a passed out drunk. Thatâs the call he was expecting when his radio came alive with the sound of a dispatcher, though seconds later came the correction to his expectationsâsuspicious activity at a residence. Taking note of the street heâd just driven past and realizing it was exactly a block away from the place of the call, Jeremy immediately made a turn. Picking up the radio he shared his proximity to the residence, calling in that heâd be checking it out and would call for back up if necessary.Â
Within minutes he was parked in front of the correct house, making his way up toward the entrance. Since noticing a car in the drive way Jeremy wanted to make an attempt at checking in on the owner first. After a series of knocks and no response he was about to make his way around to the back when he heard movement behind the door. âSouthport PD,â he announced with another knock. When the door finally came openâfollowing the initial shockâhe had to fight back a curse. Every thought circling his mind being on the notion that the situation was fucked.Â
He knew about her return, of course, shortly after hearing the news heâd began doing everything in his power to avoid coming face to face with her. So much for that now. âCamilla,â he starts, clearing his throat, then his mind along with it as he reminded himself of the reason for his standing there. âWe got a report from one of your neighbors. They saw someone they didnât recognize lurking around on your property. Is anyone here with you?â As professional and steady as he was keeping his demeanor, Jeremy was also hoping sheâd offer some reasonable explanation so he could call in an all clear and get the hell out.
