Sparring was equally fun as it was a low level practice, friendly competition without the seriousness of blows and wounds but enough to keep the Queen on her toes. She was surrounded by knights in the field, both seen and unseen, while the playful match was open for any passerby to see, if they were to travel the dense path. Eirene caught the new company as her present partner ducked to tend to a hilt jab to his chest and spun around to them, pointing the sword in their direction. “Why don’t you join? The thrill of being involved is surmountable than watching.”
She had no skill with a sword, to speak of. Sabine’s life had never given her the opportunity to learn how to wield a weapon such as that. If she was lucky she could reach a small blade and make a few swipes, but even then it spelled out certain doom. Sabine’s skills lay elsewhere: influencing others to be at the throat of comrades or trusted friends … destroying objects with an angered shout. Hands folded neatly behind her back and she bowed her head to the Queen. “I beg your pardon, but I’d be completely useless to duel. I don’t even know the proper technique.”

“I doubt there’s need for worry. Looks like it got its kill and took off. No animal attacks without need to, food or threatened.” And if it did, the creature wasn’t entirely what it appeared to be. It was his indication when encountering other animals for the picking, watching their actions and knowing if they had a second form. That would have been the theory if he hadn’t known the source of the blood, exactly where it came from and where the trail of blood led to. Rowan didn’t know another was close by to find the aftermath. “It probably is close by,” he added, closer than she knew, “but so long as you don’t happen upon its territory there’s no threat.”Â
“Whose worried?” Her lips pressed into a thin line, eyes gazing over at the thicket as if she would see some mangled deer emerge. Even then she might help herself to get away from something that nightmarish. A brow rose, “And how am I meant to know what it’s territory is? It’s not as if there’s iridescent markers about the woods. This belongs to a lion. This belongs to a wolf. Oh, alright. I’ll just stay in the neutral forest.” Laughter laced her tone, Sabine shook her head.

Eyes glanced between the woman and her hand while he drew closer. “In these parts? It’s easy to guess it was a deer or raccoon, dragged off into the thickets. I’m betting on a deer since they’re easier  to come by, more to offer.” His brows raised as he turned his gaze back to the point of origin, flowing the trail past where they stood. “The brush is all weighed down by something large, but doubtful it’s sinister.”
“The question is --- what killed it.” And was it still around. She wasn’t exactly armed, but the Pagan held a belief that if she could cause chaos in a man she could do so in an animal ( but she’d never been inhuman enough to try ). Sabine straightened, wiped the blood from the supposed deer onto her thigh and turned to the man. Well ... what she assumed was a man, she couldn’t quite see that high up. “And is it still nearby.”
The Awakening of Sabine Jerevinan
some information on Sabine!
Sabine is the apprentice to The Bone Prince, Aolis.
The daughter of the most recently replaced Anchoress ( so not the current one ), Sabine’s life was kept a secret for a very long period of time. Her mother was ashamed to have given into temptation, and the fact that she bore a child from that particular instance was not something she was proud of.
Sabine was always kept close by the Anchoress and was initially being trained to become a Priestess of the Mother, but her parentage was kept a secret.
However, Sabine’s mother did not know that the man she had lain with was a Pagan. Sabine herself inherited the lineage. When her mother found out it had disastrous effects.
she was never a particularly well-liked child. often times it resulted in other young ones often resorting to cruel forms of teasing or harassment ( or an attempt for it ). Sabine’s magic made an appearance in the unique form of wishing. with the torment came eventual thoughts of fighting back, and with that came the surprising reaction: the children turned on one-another.
Sabine became the center of many scuffles, never the intended target but always the instigator. whenever a supervisor came around she was always unscathed while the others were pulling at each other, biting, scratching or hitting each other
suspicions rose from her mother, who kept a scrutinizing eye on the girl. when she was confronted and meant to spend an evening alone in repentance to The Mother, Sabine resisted. in her anger ( and fear for being locked in some cruel form of solitary confinement to prayer ) and with a shout, she destroyed a marble statue carved in the likeness of The Mother. the Anchoress’ realization of what her child was resulted in a botched attempted on the girl’s life.
for this indiscretion, the Anchoress was cast out and Sabine was sent away.
curiosity naturally came with her exposure and Sabine made it her goal to discover how she could manipulate her magic. whether it be influencing chaos among a thrall of individuals ( which came with much practice ), or deconstructing physical objects
Sabine spent much time wandering aimlessly, eventually coming to Dystrka, which seemed most advantageous for a being of her talents. she’s not a particularly well-liked individual, considering she tends to spark fights wherever she goes, and there’s always a wake of chaos behind her, whether large or small in scale
she sold her talents to interested buyers, typically assassin’s who wished to use her ability to cause discord in their work. she was favored among small battalions for influencing groups of enemies to attack one-another, or riot against one-another
now she works as Aolis’ apprentice, trailing him around and learning whatever additional spells he affords her.
more detail about her being Aolis’ apprentice, what she does and how they were discovered and given the position will be posted after discussion with the mun (:
