It took some twenty plus years to get to this point, but I am not ashamed!
I don’t suddenly like all parts of me, the awkward “imperfections” will still make me feel self-conscious. But I am no longer racked with shame over loving my body and showing it as such. My body is not a sin. I am not a “stumbling block” to be covered up. I am not impure or a temptation, so please help me drown out the voices that ever made us feel as such.
Our bodies are magical things, beating, breathing, and balancing in ways we rarely stop to appreciate, and we should celebrate them in whatever ways feel right for us.
For me, that means letting the sunshine warm ALL of me, not just the parts deemed “respectable.” I recommend everyone give it a try at least once. It’s overwhelming how freeing it can be to just love on your own skin. Just don’t forget sunscreen!
