i like the phrases "it's not for me," "it's not my thing," and "i'm not the target audience" because they're the most concise way to express "this thing that you enjoy has merits but idgaf about it" without being aggressive

Grief From Childhood Friendships
Have you guys ever experienced that? I’ve been lucky enough to make life long friends from my childhood. Some I still talk to today. But then there’s some that get lost along the way and that’s part of life. I just saw her wedding photos on Facebook. And I sit here as a 30 y/o woman thinking this is not how I thought it would pan out. We were family friends, friends basically since birth because I was born a year before. And I always imagined us being at each others weddings. I have been lucky enough to attend one of my childhood friends wedding but that’s a different bond - we’re sisters. But we were also suppose to be sisters. And I guess because of my traumatic upbringing instead of clinging to different lovers to fill the void. I clung so hard to my friends with dear life. They are and always will be my family. It was easy back then though, we all went to the same school. We saw each other everyday & had play dates almost everyday. Their parents and grandparents babysat me. Then I moved and we still talked on the phone everyday. But then highschool instead of three on the line it became two & then college the calls stopped unfortunately. But I am greatly indebted to them for never forgetting about me and always calling me even all the way on the east coast. But idk as a child I dreamed of that moment - being there for all the special occasions. Especially weddings and to see none of us show up there, it’s heartbreaking. It’s very heartbreaking to grieve someone when they are still alive.
My official position is that Luigi Mangione is innocent because he's not the real killer and whoever the real killer is is also innocent. Two different people who are both innocent.
Luigi Mangione didn't shoot that guy, but the guy who did shoot that guy was on some A Time To Kill shit, ie yeah sure he did it but come on
i’m sick and tired of people pretending that burger isn’t delicious just to clown on americans. america deserves the ridicule, but why’s burger catching strays? burger did nothing wrong
i don’t think people understand how much of life is grief. not just people dying, but losing the version of yourself you thought you’d become. grieving the city you had to leave. the friends you lost not in argument, but in silence. the summer that will never come back. the feeling that maybe you peaked at 12 when you were reading books under the covers and believing in forever
WE FUCKING WON!!!!
I saw a post going around a while ago (including from a non-US moot) about getting comfortable lying to law enforcement
Here's the thing. In the US.
DO NOT TALK TO LAW ENFORCEMENT IN THE FIRST PLACE.
If you are in a situation where you're lying to law enforcement, you are already interacting too much. STOP TALKING.
You can ask if you are free to go. You can keep asking.
Per the National Lawyers Guild, ESPECIALLY do not lie to the FBI. Do not say things to them that could be construed as lying. Those are serious charges. The best way around that is NOT TALKING.
In the words of the National Lawyers Guild: SHUT THE FUCK UP.
Since lying to the FBI is such a serious crime, the feds will sometimes ask questions that they already know the answers to, just to see if you'll lie to them. That way, even if the initial charges turn out to be bullshit, they still got you on obstructing a federal investigation or whatever -- even if they immediately knew it was a lie and therefore were not obstructed in the slightest.
Do not talk to law enforcement.
I've never been in nyc but i feel like that would be such a vibe
[Video: A worker cleaning gunk of the bottom of the shallow end of a pool with a broom that's meant for pools. As they clean, they are often approached by the giant turtles that live in the pool who want the worker to give them shell scratches with the broom.]

some more about zohran because i've been begging all my classmates to vote for him for months! i think this is the first time i've ever felt real excitement about the results of an election

source 3
as you can imagine conservatives and liberals alike are absolutely hysterical right now!! the city's been flooded with ads fearmongering about zohran and there's been hoards of blatantly islmophobic attacks against him but i guess those millions of dollars from billionaires and super pacs went to waste!!!
i've been hearing a lot of people say the results of this election are potentially gonna signal a changing tide moving forward and goddamn do i hope that's true
Something that gave H.P. Lovecraft nightmares is the work of my favorite artist. In "At the Mountains of Madness" he specifically mentions "the strange and disturbing Asian paintings of Nicholas Roerich."
This is what Roerich's paintings look like:
