Finally finished this. Charcoal on paper, 48 in by 72 in. Based on a photo of mine from Iceland. Started it early in the pandemic, maybe May, when figuring out how to make art in my tiny studio apartment. I soon abandoned it to work on other projects. It stayed up in my apartment the whole time tho. Picked it up again later while living in Hamilton when I had a studio last fall. Finally finishing it here in Ithaca now. Weird how much change it has seen in that time. It barely needed anything to be done today but I guess hard to let go and sometimes it feels like I could just keep at it forever. 🦇🦇🦇Heading to Venice today with @n_evo and we are bringing @seemaybe in spirit! My first feature film The Cave Without a Name is a finalist for @labiennale ‘s cinema college. The Cave Without a Name is a gothic ode to night and the nocturnal, exploring how night and dream worlds offer resources for resistance to 24/7 capitalism. We will be participating in an intensive development workshop over the next two weeks to ready the film for production. They will then pick three of the nine finalists’ films to fund and premiere at the next Venice Film Festival.
