Hey tumblr world, it’s me. It took me awhile before I came here again. Maybe depression has its habit on coming back to me very often or maybe I am just too appealing for sadness. I haven’t been myself lately. This has been the longest 4 months of my life and still I’m making the best mistake or the proudest moment in my life that only the future can tell. I’ve been practicing practicality for so long. I told myself not to dwell on my emotions quickly because I’m wasting time that can be done productivity. I could just think about making plan about my life after graduation. Sorry self, I’d rather dwell on my fantasies and imaginary life than trying to put everything into place and fall into reality again. Maybe, if there is one thing I learned about myself this time, is that I can always go back to what I was before. Adulting is probably the most boring stage of a human being’s life. You started to grow and learn how to spend most of your time about making money then sleep then die. I just hate how I’m starting to be like that. Call this immaturity or whatever you want, but you can always mix your daydreamings and reality check at the same time. That is what I’ve been trying to teach myself lately. To be the best I can be without living my heart and soul into the place where I now I can never be happy. And who say’s passion can never feed one’s stomach? People always say stuff like “If Steve Jobs gave up we wouldn’t have Apple,” or “We could have missed out on lightbulbs if Thomas Edison was lazy” But imagine what we HAVE missed out on because somebody gave up.

Tonight I had dinner with two friends of mine in Nashville. We ate at some trendy new place that specializes in small plates and americana vibes. We sat in the back corner, away from everyone else. We discussed being OG instagrammers, we discussed the future of print magazines, we discussed the dark side of influencer culture. We discussed failures and triumphs and being vulnerable and authentic. In this world of social media and digital perfection I am so beyond thankful that these digital spaces have allowed us to create real world tangible connections. It has allowed us to have conversations in real life and slip away from the digital addictions of our phones. A two hour conversation with no real phone use. It seems so rare in today’s world. No selfies, no shots of food, no snaps or stories, two glorious hours with phones off the table and real engaged conversation with peers and with friends. That’s whats important in life. If you have a digital platform I implore you to use it for positive and to use it to encourage people to make connections and time for each other. This world is dark, but if we take moments every day to come together in real life with real connections and real community we as a greater humanity can surely make the world a bit brighter.
