  It had been a few months since the last party was held by the Duke of Sandringham. Jamie had obliged, what with his new title of Laird of Broch Tuarach, and ran into some familiar faces as well as new. This one particular new face, a beautiful woman with stark white hair and captivating blue eyes, had been on Jamie’s mind ever since the party, yet had no idea who she was. He only knew her name, Elsa. Any other information that could have been said to him during their time together was lost over time…and due to being way too drunk to recall much else of that night. 

  Though at the moment, instead of thinking of the white haired beauty, he was sitting at the head of the table with his sister and brother-in-law eating a hearty breakfast and discussing everyday things in the home, when Jamie’s nephew came running in with news.

  “There’s a carriage outside the house! Uncle, it seems as though they’re important. It’s like guards are surroundin’ the whole thing!”

  With a furrowed brow, Jamie shot up from his seat and looked out a nearby window to see that his nephew was right. A carriage, large in stature, had quite a number of guards all around it. When the door to the carriage was opened, Jamie noticed the woman stepping out of it had white hair and the same piercing blue eyes he’d been missing for four months. 

  “Elsa…” He spoke fondly, though it suddenly hit him that she had found him. How? “Jenny, have the staff clean up wha’ they can as quickly as possible. We’ve got company…”

Stepping out of the carriage into the fresh countryside air would have brought a smile to her face under ordinary circumstances. Being surrounded by nature has always grounded the young Queen. Today it was hard to feel anything but afraid. She hadn’t thought when she found the man who stole her heart that night that their reunion would be this. It feels unfair to drop all of this on him this way but she is without an option.

Lieutenant Mattias approached the door and knocked with authority as Lord Petersson took walked her to the door. “You’re sure you’re going to be alright in there alone?” He questions her faith in the Laird of Broch Tuarach again. His past reputation leaves a great deal to be desired in his opinion.

“Yes, I’ll be fine.” She assures him and when the door is opened and she sees James’ face her chest grows tight.

“Hello, James.” She smiles, a bittersweet expression. “It’s good to see you again.”

Normally, he didn't mind company so long as it wasn't red-coats or anyone who could possibly jeopardize his or family's well being. This situation though, Jamie wasn't sure how to handle himself. It had been months since he's seen her, wondering if he'd ever get a chance to see her again. Yet here she stood in all her beauty before him, with a slightly taught expression that made him feel on edge.

"Elsa. It's eh - if I may be honest, this is all quite unexpected. There was no letter sent or word of yer arrival, which I am curious as to how ye found me. But yes, it is lovely to see ye again."

His smile was genuine despite the feeling of wariness in the pit of his stomach. Something wasn't right. He could tell just by the urgency he saw in Elsa's blue depths. Something was on her mind and she needed to see him in person about whatever it was. He hoped she was alright.

"Oh, how rude o' me. Please, come inside. Yer...guests...are welcome as well, of course. And em - welcome to Lallybroch." Jamie extended an arm out for her to take, giving her a gentle smile before leading her inside his home.
