I’m posting this pic to show other ladies without breasts, that it’s really okay to be BREASTLESS!! I meet so many ladies that have a hard time dealing with the fact that they had to get their breasts removed and I want to motivate them. We survived breast cancer, so we have a whole lot to be thankful for!! Whether we have no breasts, wear prosthesis, had reconstructive surgery, or have one breast, we have LIFE!! We’re still beautiful regardless of how others stare at us, think about us, or talk about us!!
Thank you so much @mrdblanks for this “IMPLIED” nude look!! My husband loves this pic and he loves my scars and I love him!!
The cancer affected my breasts, not my self-esteem!! Now, isn’t she lovely?? YOU are too!! 🎀🙏🏼🎀💕🙏🏼

Breasts don´t make a woman.
.
My idea, when photographing Inka, was to approach in the same way as with any other woman who’d ask me to create nudes. I came to this, after I made a research on the visual representation of women after mastectomy. In many cases, they are pictured in a dramatic or a gloomy way, with the scars covered by their hands, flowers or otherwise. Such a gesture implies to me the feeling of shame, which does not go along with our purpose to empower confidence in women who lost one or both breasts due to cancer. Inka’s body tells a story, but it’s not only a story of the scars. It is also a story of the rediscovered joy of living, the inner sense of well being, the natural beauty of a woman and many more.
Gentle warrior. First diagnosed with a stage 3-B cancer in her right breast and lymph nodes in 2010, Inka has been fighting the disease for quite some time now. She went through one and a half years of intensive treatment and continued the follow-up medical care usual for cancer survivors. 10 years later, another malignant tumor appeared and she had to have her remaining left breast and lymph nodes in the armpit removed. Her cancer is a result of an inherited genetic mutation therefore she was advised to have her uterus and ovaries removed too. Inka finished the last round of chemo in May 2021 and decided to pose for photographs to celebrate the beauty of survival and encourage other women who struggle to accept their bodies after mastectomy.
