Jett jumped, startled by her sudden movement. He had barely left her side in weeks, only to sleep sometimes and when the nurses told him he needed to leave. He realized her first sight of him wouldn’t be a good one - his eyes were red with exhaustion and there were deep bags underneath, his hair was messy as ever, and the scruff that lined his jaw was thicker than ever. “Maggie, holy shit,” he said, unaware of what to do. He was losing hope that she would wake up. He jumped back out of his seat next to her holding her hand, and backed against the wall, staring at her.
Maggie blinked several times, unsure what to do. She looked around the unfamiliar room and her eyes met his blue ones. He'd caused such a commotion yet she hadn't even realized he was there. He looked like a dear in the headlights. She licked her lips and attempted to speak but her throat was really dry.
