J. Matthew Gottwig

I write literary fiction, sometimes with speculative elements, sometimes not. Sometimes I write pure spec. It just depends on my mood. I'm Active SFWA and pursuing a MFA from the University of Baltimore. My story "Tether" won the Montana Fiction Prize for 2018. I slush for sub-Q Magazine and help organize Charm City Spec.

Bryan Camp

Bryan Camp is a graduate of the Clarion West Writer’s Workshop and the University of New Orleans’ MFA program. He started his first novel, The City of Lost Fortunes, in the backseat of his parents’ car as they evacuated for Hurricane Katrina. He has been, at various points in his life: a security guard at a stockcar race track, a printer in a flag factory, an office worker in an oil refinery, and a high school English teacher. He can be found on twitter @bryancamp and at bryancamp.com. He lives in New Orleans with his wife and their three cats, one of whom is named after a superhero.

Gwendolyn Clare

Gwendolyn Clare’s novels include the young-adult steampunk duology INK, IRON, AND GLASS (2018) and MIST, METAL, AND ASH (2019). Her short fiction has appeared or is forthcoming in Shimmer, Fantasy & Science Fiction, Analog, Asimov’s, Clarkesworld, and Beneath Ceaseless Skies. Clare is a New Englander transplanted to central Pennsylvania, with long stops in Chicago and North Carolina along the way. She has a BA in Ecology, a BS in Geophysics, and a PhD in Mycology, which completes her acronym collection (for now, at least). Alan Smale

Alan Smale writes science fiction and fantasy, currently focusing on alternate history and historical fantasy. His novella of a Roman invasion of ancient America, “A Clash of Eagles”, won the 2010 Sidewise Award for Alternate History, and the first book in a trilogy set in the same universe, CLASH OF EAGLES, was published by Del Rey (in the US) and Titan Books (in the UK and Europe) in March 2015. Sequel EAGLE IN EXILE went on sale on March 22, 2016, and the series concluded with EAGLE AND EMPIRE in May 2017.

Tom Doyle

Tom Doyle’s American Craftsmen trilogy (Tor) tells of the hidden magician-soldiers and psychic spies fighting among us, with a backstory that weaves classic uncanny tales and secret history together into a new American mythos. Malka Older

Malka Older is a writer, aid worker, and PhD candidate. Her science fiction political thriller Infomocracy was named one of the best books of 2016 by Kirkus, Book Riot, and the Washington Post. She is also the author of the sequels, Null States (2017) and State Tectonics (2018), as well as short fiction appearing in WIRED, Twelve Tomorrows, Reservoir Journal, Fireside Fiction, Tor.com and others. She was nominated for the 2016 John W. Campbell Award for Best New Writer. Named Senior Fellow for Technology and Risk at the Carnegie Council for Ethics in International Affairs for 2015, she has more than a decade of experience in humanitarian aid and development. Her doctoral work on the sociology of organizations at the Institut d’Études Politques de Paris (Sciences Po) explores the dynamics of multi-level governance and disaster response using the cases of Hurricane Katrina and the Japan tsunami of 2011.

Ariel S. Winter

Ariel S. Winter was a finalist for the Los Angeles Times Book Prize, the Shamus Award, and the Macavity Award for his novel The Twenty-Year Death. He is also the author of  the novel Barren Cove, the children’s picture book One of a Kind, illustrated by David Hitch, and the blog We Too Were Children, Mr. Barrie. He lives in Baltimore.
