“No, no, it can definitely be b o t h our things,” Jared replied quickly and genuinely, not wanting to steal someone’s thunder even if it was something as small as this. He was actually glad to meet someone who was unabashedly talkative because sometimes Jared felt alone in that. Though, Jared couldn’t help but laugh softly at the gesture the stranger was making, finding him incredibly enduring. And attractive, but he wouldn’t get into that. He was 90% positive this guy was actually on the Chicago Cubs, but now that he was 100% sure, he would barely contain himself. It wasn’t every day he met a celebrity and, yes, he was absolutely going to call him a celebrity. Jared loved baseball, almost as much as he loved movies. It was probably a tie. “That’s amazing, and I’m honestly starstruck,” Jared said with a soft, nervous chuckle. “I’m going to take advantage of those bragging rights, believe me,” he added a beat later, his lips pulled up into a smile. “Seriously, giggle away. I’m in awe right now.” Jared honestly had forgotten what he said so what the guy said next took him a little off-guard. “Oh, oh, yeah, that. Well, what do you like to do? Besides play baseball. I mean, we could try but I don’t think a game with two people would be all that fun.”
“Well, see. We’re gonna make a swell team, I can feel it.” Joseph’s smile remained firmly plastered in its position, eyes crinkling with mirth. He bowed his head slightly, torn between being over the moon that he’d been recognised outside of Wrigley Field and equally uncomfortable with the idea; it wasn’t like there was anything that could p r e p a r e a person for it. More than anything, though, Joey was glad his present company was on a similar wavelength to him - it seemed there was a shared sense of humour, and, well... being attractive never lost anyone any points. “As you rightly should be. You know I’m a star, but I have to say there’s a distinct lack of f a i n t i n g going on and I’m truly offended by that.” He shook his head in mock disbelief, releasing a sigh from momentarily puffed cheeks. Sometimes it was strange to think he was almost 3 0 - that he’d been a legal adult for that long. “By all means, do. God knows I did when I was first drafted.” A pause, Joey inhaled deeply. “I actually don’t know? The only things I do aside from play baseball are sleep, and eat. Which sounds sad, but whatever. I’m not ashamed.”
