Two of my favorite bars in Chicago appear in Dr Dave Wondrich's article "Best Bars In America 2013" in Esquire magazine.
Congrats to The Aviary and The Barrelhouse Flat. Great bars and deserving of the honor.
Drink there now!
Juniper. Sweet juniper.
While I won't be making anybody else's Negroni this week, rest assured I will be drinking them. If you're out drinking Negroni's this week stop by -
RM Champagne Salon Hot Chocolate Red Door
Who are each donating a $1 per Negroni sold to a charity of their cause.
Rhubarb&Raspberry syrup: 1kilo chopped rhub. + handful rasps., 500ml H2O, 400g sugar, simmer covered 35min. Cool. Strain.
Tasted the Glenmorangie Signet this week.
Big chocolate and spice. Beautiful packaging.
I wouldn't exactly recommend a cocktail with this scotch, but if you really must: Old Old Fashioned.
Love this bar. Love this Bartender. Love this cocktail.
A simplified, at-home version of a celery gimlet, this cocktail was inspired by salt and vinegar, which bartender Naren Young of New York's Saxon + Parole claims 'hit your palate in places that other ingredients and acids simply don't.'
