It was normal for her, and that was hard to forget! But still! 

“Just think about when your an idol!“ Kaylee cheered, “Then every night will be like tonight!“

“A forever fairy tale!” She cheered,”It’ll be great! Cute clothes, dancing all the time doing contests! And we won’t have much longer ta wait! I can feel it!” Because you guys already talked about your eggs moving. 

“Oh we should practice autographs together one day! I’m sure that’ll come in handy quick.”

Chi wasn’t quite sure how to respond to that, and simply said, “Thank you?” She found it hard to look at the man’s face, and instead focused her gaze on his chin. Should she make small-talk while dancing? Or wait until the dance was over? What was the proper response?!

Since the dance was slow enough, and the tempo of the music wasn’t intense, she decided it was a good idea to try small talk, if he didn’t seem interested, she would just focus on dancing, “Are you from out of town?” She finally asked. 

Ah! She speaks. “Yes, my family and I have only come by to visit our cousins for the holidays. We spend most of the year in Sinnoh. Have you ever been there before?” He thought about the region he called home and the festivals he used to sneak out to see.

“Uh, thank you!“ Probably not the best response she could’ve given…

Given the way this man presented himself, she guessed he might be a Noble or something? Either way, she tried not to tense up, and tried to salvage any sense of a ‘good impression’ as she could. 

At least though, she could dance. Ballroom dancing, walzing, you name it. She found it quite fun! So, as long as she focused on that, and not on herself making an idiot of herself, she should be fine, right? 

Reo was pleasantly surprised with how well the princess danced. “See? There’s really nothing to be flustered about, you’re doing amazing.”  At least she was good at something related to her station, because she clearly wasn’t good at communicating.

It didn’t take too long for them to finish Rin’s make up… though when the hairstylist arrived, she was quick to ‘touch it up’ aka… fix it, before doing Rin’s hair. 

Before long though, Kaylee was hurrying back towards the Ballroom. The sounds of people celebrating and dancing the night away was like a beacon calling her loudly!

“Wanna dance?“ She cheered!

Rin stayed still as her make up and hair was messed with. She awed at herself in the mirror, and took a quick selfie, before following Liechi. She slowed down as she approached, a bit embarrassed by the sudden wardrobe upgrade. She was soon distracted by the offer to dance.

“Of course! I’d love ta!” They started dancing, and Rin spoke up again after a moment,”Thank ya so much fer this, Liechi! I feel like I’m in a fairytale!”

Chi hadn’t thought this far ahead yet, “A-ah! O-okay!” She accepted his hand, Her other hand gripped at her skirt, “You may.” She corrected herself with a more regal tone. She hiked her skirt up slightly so she wasn’t stepping on the trim as she allowed him to lead her onto the dance floor. 

He lead her out onto the floor and started leading her in a dance. He really hadn’t expected a princess to be so socially awkward. It was equally annoying and endearing. But since he was playing nice tonight, he would focus on the endearing bit. He leaned his head down slightly to whisper,”Your highness, there’s really no need to be nervous. You look stunning, and as long as we’re dancing together, I won’t let you fall.”

Welcome to the New Years Ball, Reo!

Chi stood near the wall, staring out at the people as they danced the night away, and was still trying to work up the courage to go dancing herself… 

She really should do something, right? Dance? Mingle? She looked over and saw her parents talking to some important looking guy, and scanning over she saw Koma talking with some guy in a fancy looking uniform. And of course, out on the dance floor, Aura and Kaylee were dancing the night away. She really should go do something too, right? 

She looked around. Okay. The first person she saw, she’d mingle with. Whether it was to dance or to chat. Her eyes scrolled over and saw a guest by himself. She gulped down her fear and approached him.

“Are you having fun? I-I mean! How are you enjoying your evening?“ Crap. Already messing up? Way to go Chiyo.

Reo had been mingling at the ball he was forced to attend with his parents. His sister, of course, was at home. He slowly made his way through the crowd of people, stopping to chat with most of them. He finally had a break to himself for a moment when one of the princesses got his attention.

He ignored her stammering over herself and smiled,”I am having a wonderful evening, your highness. This ball is absolutely lovely,” A new song started up and he bowed slightly and held out his hand to her,”If I may have this dance?”

Kaylee quickly jumped off the bed and hurried over to a large vanity table, “Okay! sit on the stool!” She cheered, as she opened a drawer to fetch her make up!

“Do you think there’ll be any famous coordinators downstairs for us to meet downstairs?“ She asked. as she continued to pull out different make up sets, “Like, Idols and stuff?“

“Make me even prettier, kay?”She said, sitting on the stool. “I hope so! Wouldn’t it be amazing if we could really meet some coord’nators ‘ndidols i-r-l! Although, we can’t really ask for autographs in a nice ball like this, huh?” It wouldn’t stop the fact that meeting them would be exciting!

“Of course you can!“ Kaylee had already called one up while Rin was changing, “You can have it if you want! I’ve got lots!“ 

She sat down on the edge of her bed, and clapped her hands, “Oh! Can I do your make up while we wait?” 

“Are ya sure?” She spun around in the dress and smiled. She definitely wouldn’t say no to keeping this dress.

She nodded her head,”Yeah, if ya want, ya can?” Why did that come out like a question. “I don’ mind.”

Kaylee stuck her tongue out at the man as he turned and walked away, and turned back to look at Rin, “Awe, Rinny! Your dress!” She paused for a moment, and looked her up and down, “I know just the thing!” 

She grabbed Rin’s hand, and turned around to run back towards the Grand Staircase, and towards her room. She rushed past the curious faces of the Staff as they went too and from the Ballroom with food, refreshments, and so on, and right up to the Royal Quarters of the Castle. She didn’t stop until she was safely in her room. 

There, she finally released Rin’s hand, and ran straight to her oversized walk-in closet, “It’s in here somewhere… here it is!”

She pulled out a modest ballerina-esque pink Princess gown, with a flowing skirt, and a lacy top. 

“Here you go! Try this on, and I’ll get a hairstylist up right away!“ Kaylee beamed!

Rin let herself get pulled along by her friend. She wiped at her eyes as her friend went into the closet and pulling out a dress.

“I can...wear this?” She asked, hesitantly accepting the dress. She went to try it on. She came back to the room proper, still holding the messed up dress, and looked in the mirror,”Woah! This is...Are you sure I can wear this?” She patted her head,”Hairstylist? You have one here?”

Welcome to the New Years Ball, @jiaaycu!

“Now announcing, her royal highness, Princess Kaylee!“ 

Kaylee exited through the doors, and onto the balcony with her head held high. She absolutely loved events like this! She wore a beautiful, Princess style, ballroom gown that poofed out around her waist with lots of tulle lining underneath to give it that beautiful poof, and wore a beautiful jeweled ribbon in her hair. It didn’t matter to her one bit that she was the youngest, and therefore introduced after her sisters. For her, any excuse to wear a fancy Princess Gown was a joyous occasion to her! 

As soon as the family dispersed and started down the stairs to mingle, dance, and eat, Kaylee started down the stairs as well. She used the handrail to guide her down, since she couldn’t see her feet, and hurried over towards her friend, who she had spotted in the crowd. 

“Rinny!“ She cheered, before giving her friend a hug, “You look so…“ Be nice, Kaylee, “…nice?“ She added after a pause, and pulled away to grab her friend’s hands, “Guess what? The Egg started shaking! Mom said it will hatch in a few days in the incubator, and then we can go to Kanto!“

“Really? Thank you so much!” The light purple ankle length maxi dress she was wearing right now was the nicest dress she owned. It wasn’t a ballgown or anything super flashy compared to the other people there, but she hoped she didn’t seem too terribly out of place. You look gorgeous Liechi!”

“Oh! My egg was shaking earlier too! It’s so exciting that we’ll get to see them soon!” While she was talkig to Liechi, she was openly aweing at the ball. She was so distracted that she didn’t notice there was a problem, until she was covered in red wine.

Rin froze, staring down at her dress. That was her best dress. Did her best dress just get ruined? Her vision grew blurry as tears gathered in her eyes. The person who had knocked their glass off, apologized, but it didn’t really register to her. What did was that the dress was 3 month’s allowance worth and now it was messy.

Kaylee wanted to snoop so badly though… but Rin was right, snooping now would only get them in trouble. Instead, she looked down at her Egg, “My parents would know too!” 

She shifted about impatiently, “Awe! I wish they’d just hatch right now so we didn’t have to wait!”

Rin flopped back on her bed. “Right??? We just got them, but I already want to know what they’ll be! They probably won’t be the same pokemon because they look so different.

“Pink and starry......” She mused,”And red and swirly...There are just too many options! C’mon, Leici! It has to have been a few minutes already!”

Kaylee sat herself down in the pile of stuffies, and placed her Egg on her lap, “I bet mine is going to be really pretty!” She squee’d and held it up to take a look at it, “I hope they hatch in time!”

She took the condemming ribbon off the Egg, “Do we need to… wrap it in blankets or put it under a heat lamp or something to get them to hatch faster?”

“I dunno. They probably need heat or something... We should ask-” No they weren’t going to ask Mila now,”-uhm...Dad. Maybe he’ll know. Do eggs take a long time ta hatch?” She hoped not. She didn’t even think of the possibility of missing because they didn’t hatch on time before that.

“I would say we should go find him now, but maybe we should give our moms a few more minutes so they don’t think we’re snooping.”

Kaylee startled as Rin grabbed her, and hurried off with her. Luckily, they made it from the door safely, before Rin’s Mom opened it. 

She clutched her new Egg gently in her arms and sighed. This was it! They were finally Trainers! They each had their own Pokemon! Well, soon… they had to wait for it to hatch first…

“I am worried about Mila… but… I am so, so happy we have our own Pokemon now!“ Kaylee said, as she tailed after Rin!

Rin’s room was...a mess. Or in her words, organized chaos. There was a path to the bed and to the closet, some space near her tv, and a little bit more room than that, but by the edges she had stuffed animals, books, Dvds, and magazines piled on the floor

“It’s hard ta believe that they’d to such a thing...”Rin sighed,”But yeah...We have our own pokemon.” She sat her egg down on the bed and slapped her cheeks to snap herself out of it. “Yeah, we have our pokemon! Ah~ What d’ya think’ll hatch from ‘em? I bet mine’ll be so cute!”
