Some JackBum fluff with a hint of MarkJae(:
The maknae line were playing some game on the floor of the living room, a weird mash up of “Never Have I Ever” and “Truth or Dare” where if they have never done something, they were dared to do it right there and then. For some odd reason, only Jackson got roped in out of the older guys, pouting as Yugyeom demanded he take a seat next to him. Mark was watching them with mild interest from the couch while Jinyoung and Jaebum back to back, scrolling through their phones.
“Okay Bambam,” Youngjae started, “your turn to say something!” Jackson was wide-eyed, still trying to understand the objective of the game.
“Hm…” Bambam looked around the room, trying to get out of the punishment of having to drink the terrible concoction he, Yugyeom, and Youngjae created in the kitchen. A smirk appeared on his face when he spied Jackson nervously looking around the room.
“Never have I ever kissed my crush on the cheek without them realizing I did.” Bambam was full on grinning now.
“Wait, does that mean you have or you haven’t?” Jackson tried to clarify to distract everyone from his reddening cheeks.
“I haven’t, but my crush isn’t in the room right now to do so, have you done it hyung?” The attention of everyone turned to Jackson, who was now bright red.
“…no…” He muttered, looking to the ground. He had told Bambam of his major crush on Jaebum two hours prior, when they were changing into comfy clothes post-schedule.
“Sorry, what was that?” Yugyeom had an inkling of Jackson’s crush but wanted to see his hyung turn into a stuttering ball of embarrassment.
“I-I said, n-no.” Jackson turned to glare at the cheeky maknae who simply put on his innocent face, which none of them fell for.
“Hyung, now you gotta go do it!” Youngjae cheered, happy that no one caught his pinky finger drop down. Except Mark, who didn’t call him out, just smiling to himself.
Jackson let out a sigh of resignation and brushed himself off as he stood up. He really hoped a certain someone wasn’t paying attention to what had just happened. The maknaes watched him in anticipation, sure that he was going to back out of the challenge and have to drink the smoothie waiting for one of them to consume. Jackson took a deep breath to calm his nerves, sneaking over to the two members playing on their phones. Jinyoung merely glanced at him and went back to scrolling through Instagram. Jaebum was watching one of their old Just Right performances out of a whim and had tuned out the group to listen to what they sounded like so many years ago.
Taking another step, Jackson crouched down and leaned in towards Jaebum’s cheek. Just as he took another quick breath in, Jaebum turned, their lips nearly touching. It felt like everything happened in slow motion. Jackson had brushed his lips onto Jaebum’s before everything registered and all he could do was stare straight into Jaebum’s eyes like a deer in headlights.
Realizing what he just did, Jackson scrambled up and rushed out of the room. Jaebum blinked, slightly confused as to what just happened but his heart pounded at the image of Jackson being so close to him. Looking around the room, he saw Yugyeom with a surprised Pikachu look on his face, Bambam cheesing like an idiot, and Mark and Youngjae with soft smiles on their face. Jinyoung let out a huff,
“What just happened behind me, should I be concerned?” He raised an eyebrow at the expressions everyone had and silence in the air. Bambam shook his head feverishly, his grin still wide.
Jaebum took a breath and pushed himself off the couch, and with a sigh, turned to find Jackson, hopefully in his room. Stopping in front of Jackson’s room, he could hear Jackson pacing back and forth. Jackson was muttering to himself, something he did when he was stressed. Pushing the door just a sliver wider, Jaebum could hear Jackson saying,
“Damn it, why did you do that? I’m such an idiot.” A huff, “You’ve ruined everything now! Why did you tell Bambam that you like Jaebum hyung? He would never like you back.” Jaebum stepped into the room before more self-hatred could happen.
“Hyung! Um uh, that was uh, an, an accident. No, a dare! An accidental dare?” Jackson stammered out before he could stop himself, “I mean it was intentional but I didn’t mean to kiss you on the lips! It was meant to be your cheek, not your lips. Not that I minded of course! I was told to kiss my crush on the cheek but you turned your head at the last minute! I’m not saying it was your fault, not at all but yeah. Um… Yeah.” He finished lamely, embarrassed by his word vomit. Jaebum looked half bemused but also nervous himself.
He ran his fingers through his hair before replying to the nervous boy,
“So uh, what I’m hearing correctly is that you have a crush on me?”
Jackson’s eyes widened even further and shyly nodded, “Yeah, I mean I’ve liked you for the past 4 months, I only realized my feelings for you like, last week. Not that I didn’t like you beforehand, you know what I mean, I just-” Jaebum put a hand up to signal Jackson to stop talking before he gave himself an aneurism.
“Jackson, I have something to admit to you too,” Jaebum hesitated, “I like you too. Have been for a while, I don’t know when but one day you just looked so cute to me but I thought you didn’t like me that way since you always shied away from any sort of skinship with me.”
“Oh! I didn’t mean to, I just get nervous when you get close to me, you’re so attractive and nice and everything great that I didn’t know how to handle myself near you.”
“Jackson, you’re pretty great too. Amazing, even.” Jaebum took a step closer, “And the first thing we’re gonna do is fix that self deprecation, alright? Well, I should’ve said this first, but will you be my boyfriend?”
Jackson nodded with such enthusiasm his hair bounced with him. Another cute look to add to Jaebum’s collection of “moments Jackson was absolutely adorable.”
“Alright. The thing you did in the living room was not what I would consider a kiss, so can I actually kiss you now?” Jaebum asked, still slightly nervous that Jackson would say no. A step toward him was all the initiative Jaebum needed to press his lips against Jackson’s. A short and sweet kiss seemed to be the best thing to do in the moment, so a few seconds later, Jaebum stepped back. Jackson pouted for a split second before smiling at the older man. Jaebum stuck out his hand for Jackson to hold, which he took happily. They walked back out to the living room where everyone seemed too distracted by a video on Yugyeom’s phone, only for Bambam to say,
“Jackson hyung, I said a kiss on the cheek, not the lips. Guess you have to drink the smoothie now because you just lost!”
Jackson’s only response was a middle finger to the cheeky kid who cackled at him.
