› see you again . . . !
even after he had a few years to adjust to seoul, youngha stop himself from longing for home. socially, he doesn't struggle. youngha is more than capable of creating another circle of friends. korea is a beautiful country, what's meant to be his home—and yet, youngha still misses the home he had left behind back in australia, along with the people he had grown up knowing. despite finally meeting the relatives his parents would talk about so often, he hasn't exactly made a stable connection with them. personally, youngha can't fathom why his parents desperately sought their approval, but it's nothing youngha has a say in. all he can do is accept his circumstances, all the while stomping on his desire to go back.
but, there are silver linings. he's enjoying his time in university, the lessons aren't all too bad, and his grades aren't terrible either. young has been making friends too, like he had hoped! if he was forced to pick one thing that he's grateful for though, it would be his unexpected reunion with ( @jihoonmk ), something he never thought to be possible.
that being said, it's not all sunshine and rainbows. more often than not, he'd spot a frown etched onto jihoon's face, especially after a visit from home. youngha never pried into the cause of jihoon's sudden disappearance, as long as he can see jihoon then youngha is more than content. still, it doesn't take a genius to figure out that something is amiss, even if jihoon doesn't say anything.
today seems to be one of those days.
he can easily find jihoon from the corner of his eyes, and there it is—the lack of a smile, which honestly makes youngha's chest feel heavy. "hoonie, over here!" he calls out from the other end of the courtyard, approaching with gentle steps. at the sight of his old friend, youngha musters a bright grin. "i've been wanting to see you! how are you doing?" he tries to go for subtle, hoping he doesn't step on any boundaries.
after having been away from australia for so long, jihoon honestly never thought that he would ever see anyone from his home country ever again. no one even really knew where he was, his father being the sole reason behind him losing contact with even those that he held dearest in this world. the hope of even feeling that same old comfort that he once had back then suddenly disappeared the day that his father fled with him to korea. the one person that could even make jihoon smile at times, the person who could give him some sort of hope, was even 'taken' from him.
even though he had tried his best to find some sort of 'happiness', especially after managing to lie to his father and more or less go into hiding, he still couldn't gain what he once had so long ago. well, that's what he thought at least. never did he expect that he would be able to run into youngha again, though it's as if someone out there was pitying him enough to give him another chance to find that smile of his which he lost recently.
he can hear his name being called out, the familiar voice breaking him out of his trance and stopping him dead in his tracks for a moment. looking over in the direction where youngha is, jihoon wants to smile but it's almost as if he had forgotten how to do so. it's not like it had been that long, though it feels like it had been an eternity since the two had last seen one another, no matter how many times he saw the other male now.
finally making his way towards youngha, jihoon does his best to muster up a smile ( or rather something that seems like one ). "hey...." his voice sounds almost weak, which he wanted so badly to hide yet failed at doing so. "i'm doing good.... h-how about you?"
no matter how many days go by, there's still that fear in the back of jihoon's mind that his father will pop up at any moment, and now the new fear that slowly begins creeping in of youngha disappearing right in front of him. maybe that's why, the moment that he gets close enough, jihoon practically throws himself into the others arms without a single care in the world about who could possibly be watching. he just really missed youngha.
