Spending time with Jihyo for the first time in what felt like forever was a major relief to Mingyu. It was a new year so he was tempted to use the lame joke about not seeing her since last year, though he ultimately ended up deciding against it. After all, she’d likely expect that from him, so if she saw it coming, it certainly wouldn’t be as funny. As he considered recent events and major things that have been happening in his life, he knew that he needed to confide in her some. Having Won to talk to about everything was wonderful, but there wasn’t much that Mingyu could tell him now that he didn’t already know. It was now Jihyo’s turn to be filled in, even if he did end up sparing her from a lot of the details.
The teen arranged for them to meet in the same McDonald’s that they sat and talked at while eating for the longest time several months ago. It seemed appropriate since it’s the very place that he learned a lot about the older girl. Now it would be a place for her to learn new things about Mingyu. So many secrets were kept inside of him for so long that it felt nice to let some of them out. It made him feel like he had less pressure weighing down on him. The two of them sat at the booth and he glanced down at his chicken nuggets and fries, which is what he’s pretty sure he had last time, too. Softly laughing, he finally spoke up.
“Do you want to guess why I invited you here or would you rather me just come out and say it?” His wording amused him since it was actually wildly appropriate. ‘Come out’. Heh.
it felt nothing short of amazing to meet up with mingyu again after what felt like a lifetime. jihyo wasn’t used to spending so much time away from her friends (the ones that she had, at least), which only made her that much more eager to have met up with him. mingyu had seemed insistent that they meet up at the same mcdonald’s as they had started meeting up at nearly a year ago (it was almost as if it had become their go-to location), so it was only a matter of time before the both of them had shown up, sitting together at their favorite booth.
“hmm, i don’t know. but i’m going to guess it has something to do with the fact that we haven’t seen each other all year,” she joked, light laughter momentarily filling the air before she placed a fry in her mouth. “kidding, but i’m not going to apologize for it. those year jokes are priceless, even if they are kind of lame. but the chance to use them only comes once a year, so...” it was then that she realized she was rambling, so she smiled at her friend before deciding to give him a chance to speak. “maybe it’s because you missed me so damn much? if not that, then... no idea! you’ll just have to come out and say it.”
