It’s been a time...I’m still here with a beating heart, two brave children and a wonderful career in Community Radio. My piano has been calling me lately - so I’ve learned to love it. The RPM Challenge is an international Dare to make an album in February. Who am I to pass up a dare to make music?!
9 track album
A collection of songs written by Jill Staveley, arranged & performed by Steelburner, - recorded as part of the RPM challenge.
~They met on the road, playing music late at night. She got pregnant. They both chose home life - never losing the determination to find a way to keep playing the music they loved in a way that incorporated the presence of their kids, together as a family. Steelburner is based upon the musical marriage between Watson's unique and powerful approach to playing stringed instruments and Staveley's strong and expressive voice singing songs that explore truths of parenthood, family life, and the desire to redefine the role of a 40 year old mother in the music industry. Held together by the DeMarsh brothers on drums & bass, the whole band has a garage-folk sound, and the presence of a family. We are:Matthew Watson - guitar, mandolin, harmonicaJill Staveley - banjo, guitar, vocalsAdam DeMarsh - drumsDylan DeMarsh - bass~
Its a very poor quality recording. my apologies.
Sometimes, when the stars align, I get to play in a band called Hurricane Charlie. I hit the drums. Pat Walsh makes the magic happen.

About 10 years ago I recorded a solo album (Faithful to the Tomb), as well as the 2nd stavelEy project release..this song was on both recordings. 10 year anniversary this June!
The co-founder of a local rock camp doesn't mind sitting at a local coffee shop waiting for young musicians to show up.
Rock Block was amazing today! Some new RC4G supporters stepped up to help facilitate (thanks Candice & Melinda Richter), Matt Jarvis made a special appearance on drums, and Clifford Skarstedt Jr. came down to take some photos for our local paper! It was a wonderful community event where people were making music (even some moms took a turn jamming) and others were creating art with markers, pens and paper. So happy to be part of the magic in our town! We've seen such an out pouring of support to keep RC4G going, I'm excited to see the future unfold.
This was a beautiful thing that happened to me and my littles this summer!
10 days of RockNRoll under my belt with RockCamp 4 Girls* Peterborough...We just finished year 11! Www.rc4gpeterborough.com
We did it. Steelburner (Matt Watson & Jill Staveley) promised a release in the Spring of 2016 - and despite life having other ideas - we did it. It might only be one song - but it is a mighty track recorded by us, in our sweet home, while the littles were in the back yard eating popsicles. It’s a good life we live - we are lucky to make the music that we do.
Spring is almost over. Steelburner kept trying to record - but life kept getting in the way! So Matty is inside putting a guitar track down on Sweet Sisters while they enjoy a relaxing Father's Day. Any luck - and we'll release at least one Steelburner song in Spring 2016 (later tonight!) and have the rest of the album out by Summer's end. #steelburner
