For Fun // Choice Para
The war had begun and Paisley wanted nothing to do with it. The idea of fighting, confronting the freaky werewolves, and seeing her friends hurt- or even dead- left Paisley with a bad taste in her mouth. This wasn’t her fight, this wasn’t fun, and Paisley had always lived for fun. Seeing the werewolves out of the windows of the castle she glanced around frantically. Students seemed to be acting so casual, so naive, so clearly unaware as to what was about to go down. Paisley had always assumed they had been lied to by Rattigan, call it liars intuition, but she knew he had been planning something bigger, and now that the day arrived she wanted out of their as quickly as she could.
Without a second glance, and only the clothes on her back, Paisley casually walked to the door. It was best not to draw attention to herself under Rattigan’s watchful eye. Paisley was often brighter than she seemed, and perhaps that had always been a part of the large lie that was her time at Hogwarts, she had always been a very bright girl. Glancing around the hall frantically she saw places she would never see again. The place where she met Lydia before they often fucked or had threesomes, the place where she had lost a part of Bobble’s invention, the place she dragged people she barely knew, like Mikey, Petey, Davey, Philly, and Jimmy, on the adventures of a lifetime, there was the place she told someone her name was Wangero for the first time, the places where people would comment on her ever changing hair and the strangest style in all of Hogwarts, the place she had first tried drugs, and the time she had discovered she had a half-sister named Bella. These were the places where memories were created both good and bad. Though this had been her home, she knew she would never want to return, she hadn’t wanted to be in school in the first place. She had always just wanted to have fun, but anymore this place was not going to be the place where she would be able to have fun. Not if Rattigan won. This war was bigger than her, it was bigger than any of them, and she could feel the lies Rattigan had fed them only made him stronger.
Would she go home? She didn’t know, but she knew first she had to get out of the place that was no longer as fun as she had remembered. Bursting through the doors Paisley ran ahead, intending to leave school behind forever, to never have to see a textbook again. Getting one last longing look at the castle of her childhood, she turned and headed for the trees. Or so she thought.
In front of her was a women, so much taller and more god like than any person she had ever seen before. She was beautiful, in a way words couldn’t describe, but frightening in that exact same way. “Paisley Winkle?” She asked smirking wickedly, a voice that Paisley instantly recognized but could not place.
“No” Paisley stated lying, fearing it was one of Rattigan’s minions here to kill her before she could even make to safety.
“Still lying I see, even Hogwarts couldn’t break that from you could it?” She laughed a wicked laugh. “It has been fun watching you squirm for so long, and watching others squirm with you.”
Paisley was confused, this woman knew who she was and she had never met her before, but her voice remained eerily familiar. “I’m Wangero.” She insisted, not ready to give up this lie.
“Oh you dim girl, you are Paisley Winkle, and I am Margo.” She smiled as Paisley face lost composure and fell to a state of confusion. “This has always been one of my favourite parts.”
"For years now, I’ve been manipulating dimensions to do what I want, to keep me from my own boredom. I brought two different worlds together in order to create a little chaos and try to shake them both up. Over the years I have been quite successful, death, destruction, and even a war now.” She gave Paisley the look of a wicked witch. “Of course you do not remember anything from the past life you’ve lived, now do you?” Margo gave a laugh that sent shivers down Paisley’s spine. “Why don’t we change that?”
With that Paisley suddenly remembered wings and flying, being seperated by a border from Bella, the sister she had never had, but she was so much kinder, and they were all so much happier. She had so many friends, including Bobble, they were going on so many adventures, seeing so many things, and having so much fun. There she was not estranged from a family, there she had never even heard of drugs, there she saw a world where she could have all the fun she could ever want and people who loved her. Paisley longed for a life like this.
“That’s me?” She asked happily. “I’m Periwinkle.”
“Yes, yes that’s you.” Margo waved her hand annoyed, she didn’t seem one for happy or sentimental moments. “Now what are you going to choose?”
Paisley sat there, she had made great friends here at Hogwarts, but it was going to be destroyed if Rattigan had his way and she didn’t want to have to live through her life knowing that her friends were all dead. She would rather be happy then to remember they existed at all.
“Periwinkle.” Pais said quietly. “I think I want to be Periwinkle.”
Margo then stepped to the side behind her was not a forest now, it was a door. “Then you will enter here and say goodbye to those you knew here forever.”
Taking a deep breath Paisley closed her eyes and stepped through the door, her face plastered with a smile. This is what life was supposed to be about right? This was for fun.
