It’s something like a regular evening. Dim sky, lonely streets, distant hum of people on their ways home. Kind of quiet, though Jinki doesn’t know what he expected. He’s sat on the steps in front of his apartment with a battered suitcase on the stair beside him. He’s forgotten where he’s been, where he’s coming back from but what matters is that right now, he can rest.
Right now, Jinki just sits, idly tapping his knee and subconsciously asking himself when he’s going to get a haircut. It’s too long now.
Anyways, it doesn’t matter what he looks like if he’s got no job. But, even still...

::he's still got a smidge of limp, a gap in his teeth, but he pauses at the door as he passes, rubs his eyes and--:: hyung! ::he shoves the door open and bounds in to wrap his arms around the familiar form:: hyung hyung hyung~!!!!
[`his balance falters, but thank goodness there is the sharp counter corner to keep him from falling. the wood jabs his back and jinki groans hoarsely. he holds back the cussing because you’re in his arms and being cuddly. can’t ruin that]

It’s so empty. [`scowls, elbows on the counter as he looks out into the empty bakery. there’s no clanging of pots in the background, or shouts of demands from the floor. just a lot of silence and wind whistling out the freshly cleaned (by jinki) windows]
[`he doesn’t want to talk to himself, but] How lonely. Tch! [`he peers to the side, to the glass display case. a tray of poorly made ghost-shaped cookies set on the top shelf. yes, he made them himself]
Urg.. [`frustrated with the lonely aura, he yells] WHERE IS EVERYBODY!?

"The thing?" Eunji swallows. Right. Dialect. Satoori. She thought she had that under control… She’s not ashamed but lots of comments are just unnecessary. "Ohh. Well, that’s… Basically it to know about me? I’m nothing incredible or anything, if that’s what you’re thinkin’." She smiles softly, turning off the mixer. "Are you feeling okay, Jinki? Looks like you took advantage of that open bar, here, let me get you some water…"
A beer wouldn’t be too bad right now, she thinks, as she fills up a cup from the faucet and presenting it to the cashier. ”Twenty fiv— Hey, watch it!” Wide eyes snap open when she sees his hand threaten her creation, so she snatches his wrist gently, directing it out. “Shhhh, aish, you are far from fifty! That’s decades, eons away! You’re still young.” She quickly takes her apron, dabbing the batter off of his face with a tender hand. "No worries, okay? Will you help me with the icing…?"
"Eeeverybody's incredible in some way," he says with a slight slur and halfway through a burp. "Even this dude right here! I'm great somehow! Right? I mean, I've got a great hairstyle sometimes maybe... I make a lot of people smile! I think. I... can count money relatively fast?" So maybe Jinki isn't really all that incredible either, but he does believe that Eunji could be.
The hand against his face brings a little half-sober smile, and the comment lifts his drunk spirits. "Definitely a good kid. Definitely unlike those-- those twins..." He trails off. It's a story for another day.
"...Also, I can't do icing or uh...Any of.. that..." he lets out a sheepish laugh, swaying in his seat.
"Okay, I’m all ears."
Her tongue grazes her teeth as she tiptoes around the older man. She could deal with this. She had experience dealing with kitchen drunks with her older brothers, and Jinki? He didn’t look like he could hurt a fly, though she let out a tsk on her tongue, collecting the teaspoon from the floor. "Two years ago I was in Busan and trying to make candy apple icing." She replies, turning on the mixer before she directs him to sit in the chair himself. "It sucked. Never try to make candy apple icing. People can change a lot in two years, mm." She muses, taking the colours she had set out and dropping several pink drops into her mixer, watching the mixture change colour with a happy hum.
"You still seem humble to me, Jinki. Innocent? Well I don’t know that. But definitely humble n’ nice." Her nose crinkles with her smile, tapping his shoulder. "Yaaaaah, Eunji! Eun! Ji! Is it that hard?” Her laugh carries throughout the kitchen. “Listen to me - you aren’t old…. Well. I don’t know. How old are you, anyways? You don’t look like an ahjussi to me—” her face flushes at the sudden compliment. “O-Oh I… I don’t know? Swag? I’m not well versed in swag— I mean, I wish, but— Yeahno.”
"Busannn... Oh, Busan!" He points an accusing finger at Eunji, stabbing the air in front. "That's why your voice does the.. the thing. But hey! You're in Seoul now and you can cook and... and uh well that's all I know about you, haha... But you seem like an OK kid, Eunjoo."
Jinki belatedly takes a seat on the chair he'd offered, watching Eunji's mix as she swirls in colour. Jinki frowns, a habit he's gained after a long while of seeing the effortless work of bakers and decorators. Just how can they just create food so easily? Why is nothing burning? Where's the fire? Did he leave the stove on in the apartment? He needs another drink.
"Well! I'm turning 25 next month..." a finger is suddenly in the fluffy pink mixture. "And I'm gonna be 25... Almost 50... ALMOST 50!" He shouts, slapping his hands (along with the freshly coated finger) against his cheeks. "This is it,Eonja, I'm dying soon, make sure the bakery lives on..."
Two minutes, she had left her position for two minutes and she found… Jinki, was that his name? At least someone had shown up to the macaron demonstration. She was getting to be worried, but at the same time she’s glad someone showed up.
His face and eyes are into the shell batter. Dangerously close, at that, so with a huff, she stomps over and pokes his nose with the wooden spoon she was carrying, brows furrowed and cheeks puffed in a sullen h u f f.
"Close. Eunji. It’s Eunji!" Her shoulders bounce with the syllables as she stuffs the utensil back in her apron, smoothing it down. "Jinki? That’s your name, right?" Eunji tilts her head at her coworker. "Now, are you here to make macarons or are you just here to drool in them? Saliva isn’t a flavour the customers enjoy…"
"Euuuunji. Simple enough to remember..." he says and lifts his face out of the bowl with a final long whiff of the batter.
"Let me-- Let me tell you something, Eunji" a lazy hand props out a chair for her, elbow knocking a teaspoon off the work area. "I started to work here two! Years! Ago! Back then, I was so... so simple so... humble and innocent..." His eyes are misty, not because he's reminiscing, but because a bit of batter got in his eye.
"I've gotten so old, Yeonji. I've become a man of shame!" His body falls onto the table with a heavy thud. "Tell me, as a beaut born from Venus... Do I lack swag..."

Everything is nice. This is great. He likes this. Jinki likes this--this being having a hand occupied with a now half empty glass of beer. He won't overdo himself of course. It's a store event with new employees and he doesn't want to ruin it as that drunk senior who peed on the floor.
But two glasses is no different from one... And four isn't different from two... And six isn't where he wanted to be, but it is where Jinki finds himself, slumped into a bowl of what could be batter.
"Your name is .......ji," he says when he peers up and finds a face looking over him. This is probably her batter. "..Well uh...whoops I guess."
