So I heard this story second-hand, many years ago, but the gist was that a friend of a friend lived in what was generally considered a bad neighborhood, because he was a super poor college student and it was what he could afford. He didn’t have any furniture, he just slept on a blanket on the floor and had a milk crate for a chair and like an old wire spool as a table. No TV, nothing in the fridge, no microwave, basically just bare walls and a roof to keep the weather off. So one day he comes home, and there’s a man in his apartment, just standing there, with this look of utter amazement and horror on his face, and he turns to the guy who’s just entered and says, “This your place? ‘cause I broke in to rob you, but shit, man, you ain’t got nothin’. Wait here, I’m’a be right back.” And the burglar left, leaving a puzzled college student alone in his empty apartment. But sure enough, the burglar came back a while later, and brought some friends, and they delivered a table, a couple of chairs, and a small TV. “I think I got you a bed, too, but that might take a couple days.”
So, the poor college student made some friends. And he didn’t ask where they got the stuff.
Broglar.

//IT’S NOT ALWAYS ABOUT YOU// Hi! My name is Lilly and for those of you who don’t know me, I make two YouTube videos a week for the world to judge and hopefully enjoy. Being on the internet is wonderful and liberating but it’s no secret that the world wide web can be cruel. Over the past 6 years I’ve had my fair share of horrible comments spewed at me and unfortunately, dealing with them is part of my job. Fortunately, there’s always a silver lining and being exposed to hateful comments has helped me become more logical when dealing with emotions. After all it would be exhausting to get upset every time someone called me an “indian terrorist whore.” Excluding the blatantly racist, sexist and disgusting comments, I’ve noticed a trend when it comes to people leaving negative comments under my videos. In my opinion, a majority of people who leave negative comments have one thing in common: they can’t seem to look beyond themselves. If an idea, story or experience doesn’t relate to them or include them, they feel offended. For example, I recently made a video titled “Why I’m Not In a Relationship” that outlined all the reasons I’m not ready for a relationship in my life. I received comments from people saying things like “You’re wrong. You shouldn’t put down relationships just because you don’t have one. My boyfriend and I are very happy.” It was confusing for me to read these comments because my video was about me, my life and my belief on relationships. My video wasn’t titled “Why YOU’RE Not In a Relationship.” Similarly, I did a recent post about wisdom being a passport full of stamps, encouraging people to travel. I said “I encourage you to save up money every month to travel the world.” Yet again a gang of offended people replied “that’s not very humble of you. Not all of us can afford to travel.” Instead of thinking about ways they could possibly save to travel, their first reaction was to think about all the possible ways the post could offend them. I see this trend very often when I post videos. People will listen to something, instantly feel offended by a different viewpoint or one that doesn’t relate to them and get defensive because they’re not being represented in my content. There’s a certain level of entitlement there that social media has given birth to because these days people don’t want information for knowledge, but instead only to decide how it affects them. It’s the same mentality people have when they say #PrayForEveryone not just #PrayForPalestine or #AllLove should be used instead of #GirlLove. People get offended if they are not included, not realizing that not everything has to be about them. But this post isn’t about me getting annoyed at negative comments because that wouldn’t be productive. It’s about the fact that noticing this trend has led me to conclude something I would like to share. I personally believe that people who leave negative comments underneath YouTube videos and instead don’t use that energy for something more positive and productive, are simply sad, insecure people. I truly don’t mean to offend anyone but I really can’t justify any other reason someone would spend time saying argumentative things to a stranger. I’m not talking about helpful criticism or starting an intelligent conversation but rather about people who skew information, hear what they want to hear in accordance to their feelings and then express discontent or judgement. That’s my opinion and you’re free to disagree but having concluded that, I’ve made the connection between self-absorbent people being sad. Long story short, if you want to be happy, have an open mind and don’t be so quick to use a defence mechanism. Not everyone is out there trying to upset you or judge you. Next time you open your mental tool box, use understanding before defence and see how that helps build your attitude. It’s not always about you and that’s okay. That’s what makes the world wonderful and full of different ideas and perspectives. But at the end of the day, regardless of the comments you do (or don’t) leave, I appreciate you being here and engaging in some way. In the most humble way, I just enjoy sharing ideas that may help enlighten you or inspire your day. If you enjoyed this post and the ideas presented, you can pre-order my book “How To Be a Bawse” at http://bit.ly/2bWRHAa. If you don’t want to, that’s cool too. Have a great day either way and have fun opening your minds to the world. With love, Lil xo #BawseBook

when you crave social interaction and friendship but you’re still an introverted, anxious mess:
Once my friend Henry was accused of wearing wireless headphones by a substitute so she said for him to hand them over so he took them off and handed them to her. Then later on she asked him a question and he didn’t respond so she said it louder and he still didn’t respond. She asked why he was not responding and he said “I can’t understand you ma'am, you took my hearing aids.”

I’m loving watching the Jasper discourse from Earthlings roll in because personality-wise she’s so Vriska… “She’s always believed that she can be the best and anyone who doesn’t accomplish the things she does is worthless and weak and deserves what comes to them, so how will she deal with being imperfect?” idk dude but I’m on the edge of my seat for more content that I can project Homestuck characters onto.
