The truth is, terrorists can come from anywhere. The word itself does not define race, colour, creed, gender, or political party. A terrorist is someone who seeks to cause fear in others, whether it is to get a point across, further a larger agenda, or make a statement. All of those are redundant and overlapping. Some terrorists are accidental while others are deliberate. Some have mental health issues, such as narcissism, paranoia, delusions, and fanaticism. Some may be politically or religiously motivated. Most think they are doing it for the greater good. Others don't think, they just follow blindly. Terrorist don't come from one country. They are your neighbors, coworkers, family members, friends, etc. They are white, black, brown, yellow, red, pink, orange, Christian, Jewish, Muslim, Hindu, Sikh, Catholic, atheist, Protestant, prolife, prochoice, gun control activists, NRA members, hippies, snowflakes, citizens, immigrants, refugees, students, teachers, mothers, husbands, brothers, cousins, and lovers... The point is, they are everywhere. No, the point is not to scare you, the point is to make you realize that banning certain groups, building walls, being afraid to speak up for injustice, and being in a constant state of personal terror means that they win. Don't be afraid, but rather love. Love your neighbor, understand where they come from. Learn about other cultures. Learn another language. Travel. Listen. Think. Explore. And be brave!
